Geraldine Childress Gipson, age 84, of Louisville, KY departed this life on Friday, May 27, 2016 in Louisville. The Hart County native was born on April 22, 1932 . She was the wife of the late Romie Gipson.

She was a retired factory worker for All Goods Foods and attended Ollie United Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Leroy Childress (Leavia) of Mammoth Cave, KY and Joe Gipson (Mary Ann) of Falls of Rough, KY; two daughters, Carolyn Casey and Sandy Whitaker both of Louisville, KY; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

​Georgia Crabtree, age 79 of  Smiths Grove, KY, departed this life on Friday, May 27, 2016 at her residence.

​The Clinton County native was born on  February 2, 1937 to the late Willie Arthur and Ethel May Forester Stinson and was the wife of the late Roy T. Crabtree. 

She was a homemaker and a Christian.

She is survived by five sons, Eddie Crabtree of Brownsville, Frankie Crabtree (Donna) of Oakland, Jeff Crabtree (Melinda) of Smiths Grove, Joe Crabtree (Daphne) of Brownsville and James Crabtree (Rebecca) of Bowling Green; five daughters, Helen Byrd (Tommy Cline) of Cave City, Shirley Vincent (Cliff) of Horse Cave, Peggy Hayes of Brownsville, Kathy Thompson (Norvin) of Cave City and Angie Woolbright (Roger) of Bowling Green and one sister, Betty Fitzgeralds (Delmer) of Byrdstown, TN; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

​Riley Elmore, age 72 , of Louisville departed this life on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in Louisville.
​
The Edmonson County native was born on August 30, 1943 to the late George Marion and Valerie Self 
Elmore.

He worked in drywall construction and was a Vietnam Army veteran. He was also a member of Poplar Springs United Baptist Church.

He is survived by his companion, Faye Boston of Louisville, KY; one brother, Michael Elmore (Hilda) of Clarksville, IN; one sister, Alice Williams of Taylor, MI and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by one brother, James E. Elmore and three sisters, Louise Williams, Nelsie Whobrey and Evelyn Vincent.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crusade for Children.

Interment will be in Poplar Springs cemetery with military honors by the Nisbet Alexander Memorial Post #6937 VFW.

​Eric Skaggs, age 56 of Park City, KY, departed this life on Thursday, May 19, 2016 in Bowling Green, KY. The Edmonson County native was born on October 5, 1959 to Joe Skaggs, who survives, and the late Willa Dene Davis Skaggs.

He worked as a truck driver for Buttram Farms and was a member of Faith Tabernacle Community Fellowship.

He is survived by his wife, Jamie Skaggs; one son, Jeremy Skaggs (Jennifer) of Gallatin, TN; three daughters, Erica Haley (Steven) of Auburn, Angel Russell (Adam) of Cave City and Samantha Francis of Merry Oaks; two sisters, Bonnie Ann Taylor (Danny) of Park City and Chrissie Deweese (Lannie) of Sweeden and five grandchildren, Emerson Poteet, Brooklyn Russell, Ally Russell, Kinslee Haley and Coenn Skaggs.

​Brenda Lee Cole, age 76, of Mt. Washington, KY departed this life on Monday, May 16, 2016 at her residence. The Los Angeles, CA native was born on January 30, 1940 to the late Charles and Catherine Pearl Creiman Bromley.  She was married to the late Fred M. Cole. 
She was a housekeeper at Meadow View Nursing Home and was of the Baptist faith. 

She is survived by one son, Freddie Cole, Jr. (Lisa) of Mt. Washington; two daughters, Cheryl Purvis of Mt. Washington, Cathy Fisher of Campbellsburg; two brothers, Tom Bromley (Adonna), Bruce Bromley (Diane); one sister, Linda Pezzola and best friend, Margie Rison; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Sue Estes.

Interment will be in Boling Springs Cemetery.

​Wiley N. Willis, age 94, of Brownsville departed this life on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at his residence. The White Star, KY native was born on  October 18, 1921 to the late T. Edmond Willis and Sarah Alvarro  Posey Willis.  He was married to Eva Scott Willis, who preceded him in death. 

He was  retired from Essex Wire Corp. and later was the owner of  Willis Café, started the Edmonson Co. Ambulance Service, refurbished several homes in the community, traded in used cars and had Wiley’s Market. 

He was a WWII Army Veteran where he received the Bronze Star; Purple Heart; American Campaign Medal; EAME Theater Medal with one Silver Service Star; Army of Occupation Medal with Germany clasp; the World War II Victory Medal , the Good Conduct Medal and the French Medal of Honor.  He was a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church, Commander Wand B. Doyle Chapter #32 DAV, State Commander of DAV in 1984, Nisbet Alexander Memorial Post # 6937 VFW and Washington Meredith Masonic Lodge # 355 F&AM.

He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Shaheen (Shaheen) of Houston, TX, Linda Hamrick (Steve) of Ft. Wayne, IN; one son, Russell McCann of Ft. Wayne, IN; five grandchildren, Robin McCann, Sindy McCann, Gary Marchal, Jr. (Janice), Mary Ann Dubiel (Eric) and Beth Clawson (Mark) ; nine great grandchildren, Holly Carr (Shawn), Andrew Griswold, Kylie Clawson, Evan Clawson, Eva Dubiel, Samantha Snell, Nicholas Snell, Crystal McCann and Brandon McCann; three Great Great Grandchildren, Autumn Buss, Tara F. ​Karen Kimble Vincent, 68, of Roundhill passed away at 2:32 AM May 15, 2016 at her home.
 
The Jefferson County native was a retired supervisor for P Lorillard Tobacco Co. She was the daughter of the late Willam Rowland Kimble and Anna B. Angel Kimble and the wife of the late Roma Vincent. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jeff Vincent and Ryan Vincent.
 
Funeral will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to take place at a later date in Sunny Point Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 PM Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday.
 
Surviving are two daughters, Erin Vincent (Jaren Durbin) of Roundhill and Theresa Merideth (Paul) of Louisville; a son, Douglas Edwards of San Diego; five grandchildren, Jason Higdon, Sara Bell, Lauren Higdon, Karanna Vincent and Noelle Durbin; and 10 great grandchildren.

​Leo Meredith, 92, of Cub Run passed away at 2:30 AM May 12, 2016 in Glasgow.

The Edmonson County native was retired from the Kentucky Dept. of Transportation, a farmer and a member of Stockholm United Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Elick Meredith and Celia Buster Meredith and the husband of the late Virginia Cox Meredith. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Meredith; a brother, Cleo Meredith; and two sisters, Rosetta Cannon and Marie Meredith.
 
No public services are scheduled. Burial will take place in Meredith-Thompson Cemetery. Gravil Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
 
Surviving are two daughters, Alma J. Meredith of Cub Run and Linda Sue Vincent (David) of Scottsville; a son, Steve Meredith (Sharon) of Mammoth Cave; a brother, Kenneth Meredith of Park City; a granddaughter, Renee Vincent of Scottsville; a great granddaughter; and a great great grandson.

​Chris Anderson, age 41 of Bowling Green, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 in Bowling Green. He was born on August 30, 1974 to the late Connie Lee Anderson in Burkesville, KY.  

He worked on the assembly line at Magna and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica Wallace of Bowling Green; half-brother, Anthony Anderson of Burkesville; one niece, Khloe’e Lee Anderson; one nephew, Trent Thomas Anderson; aunt, Teresa Gilbert; cousin, Dylan Gilbert; several other aunts, uncles and cousins.

​Matthew Norman Simon, 95 of Bowling Green died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Chandler Assisted Living with his children at his side.

Norman was the husband of the late Genevieve Rich Simon.  The Edmonson County native was a son of the late James William and Ion Duvall Simon.  He was preceded in death by three sisters, Nina Mayhugh, Madge Simon, Gertie Anderson; three brothers, Amon Simon, Harold Simon, Reynold Simon.  He was founder and co-owner of Simon Masonry and a farmer.  Norman was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a WWII Marine veteran.
 
Since his wife’s death thirty-three years ago, he continued to be the steady guide and beacon of their family values.  Their children were blessed to have Norman and Genevieve Simon as their parents.

His survivors are his four children:  Randy Simon, Debby Cherry (David), Libby Simon (Brent Rowe), Terry Simon (Judy); three grandchildren, Simon Cherry, Jenna Cherry, Sonia Simon; one sister-in-law, Ila Simon; several nieces and nephews; his caregiver, Shirley Malone; friends, Mike Murphy, Joyce Webb, Sue Stringer and George Comfort.

Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 on Wednesdayat Hardy & Son Funeral Home Bowling Green Chapel with prayer service at 3 p.m.  Visitation will also be 9-12 on Thursday at the funeral home.

​Nadine Potter Vincent, age 79, of Woodbridge, VA departed this life on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Brookdale Lake Ridge Assisted Living. The Edmonson County, KY native was born on October 26, 1936 to the late Sherman Lane and Elton Lowe Potter. She was married to James “Jimmy” Lee Vincent, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker, caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and would spend hours meticulously quilting. Nadine was a member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist and First Baptist Church at The Villages.

She is survived by three daughters, Vicki Benson (Richard “Reb”) of Woodbridge, VA, Pam Weimer (Dennis) of Valders, WI and Staci Fincher (Jeff) of West Chester, PA; one sister, 
Dehlia Booth of Brownsville, KY; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was also 
preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Denise Vincent.

Interment will be in New Home Church Cemetery.

Joyce Dean Pedigo, age 64 of Cave City, KY, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016 in Glasgow, KY. She was born on January 16, 1952 in Barren CO. to the late Thomas Edward Minor and the late Geraldean Martin Minor.

She worked in Cup Maintenance at Dart Container and was a member of Cave City Christian Church.

She is survived by: two sons, Brian Pedigo (Christie) of Smiths Grove and Kevin Pedigo (Venus) of Temple Hill; one stepson, Steven Wayne Pedigo of Lebanon, TN; one Brother, Gary Minor (Kathy) of Cave City; four grandchildren, Jacob Pedigo, Preston Pedigo, Elijah Pedigo, Jasper Pedigo and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Marvin Wayne Pedigo.

​Betty Lee Farris Shuman, age 92, of Morgantown, KY departed this life on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY.  The Edmonson County native was the daughter of the late Andy Farris and Nellie Whobrey Farris.  She was married to Blair C. Shuman, who also preceded her in death. 

She was a housewife, caring mother and grandmother and of the Baptist faith. 

She is survived by one son, William Henry Laird (Wanda) of Louisville, KY; four daughters, Jane Woodcock (James) of Brownsville, Joyce Huddleston of Lebanon Junction, June Speck of Louisville and Paula Lawrence of Mount Washington; one sister  Lucy Wolverton of Georgia; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Joan Bates; one great grandson,  Shane Huddleston and two son-in-laws, Donald Huddleston and Horace Speck.

​Nell Dean Vincent, 84, of Brownsville passed away at 8:10 AM May 3, 2016 at her home.
 
The Edmonson County native was a retired Custodian for Edmonson County Schools. She was a daughter of the late Charles Otto Vincent and Leva Basham Vincent and the wife of the late Noel A. Vincent. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilmer Vincent; and three sisters, Gladys Coates, Freda Stewart and Eula Mae Sanders.
 
Funeral will be at 1:30 PM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Dit Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Thursday.

​Karen Hardesty, 54, of Louisville passed away at 1:25 PM April 30, 2016 at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.

The Jefferson County native was a disabled machine tender for Mother's Cookies. She was the daughter of Roy Hodges and Surrilda Rigdon Hodges of Cub Run, who survive, and the wife of the late George Hardesty. She was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Jesse James and Elijah Compton.

Funeral will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Jack Meredith Cemetery. Visitation will be2-8 PM Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday.

​Mildred Watt Hunt Houchins, 96 of Smiths Grove passed away peacefully with family at her side Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Greenwood Nursing and Rehab.

The Edmonson County native was a daughter of the late Ed and Vernie Sturgeon Watt and is preceded in death by her husbands, Graden Hunt and Paul Houchins; two brothers, Wilkins Watt and Jess Watt; several nieces and nephews including Tim Adcox, Harold Watt, Doug Watt, Marcella Hood, Nola Hargis, Willodean Watt.  She was a homemaker and a member of Shadyland Church of Christ.

Her survivors include her son, Tommy Hunt (Gracie); two daughters, Carolyn Hunt and Alice Simpson (Vincent); seven grandchildren, Tim Hunt (Shannon), Tamela Hunt Haynes (David), Kevin Simpson (Jan), Dionne Hopson, Allison Botello, Donita Harper (Ryan); ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren; a special niece whom she helped raise Evona Adcox (Jim) and a special friend of 90 plus years  Nola Mae Mills.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Boiling Springs Cemetery.
