​James C. Nevitt, 78, of Brownsville passed away at 9:45 AM May 27, 2017 at his home.
 
The Meade County native was a retired auto mechanic. He was a son of the late Junious Aloysius Nevitt and Beulah Christine Clark Nevitt.
 
No public services are scheduled. Gravil Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
 
Surviving are his wife Loraine Sowders Nevitt; four sons, James C. Nevitt Jr (Linda), Troy Nevitt and Craig Nevitt all of Largo, FL and Marty Lee Nevitt of Silver Springs, FL; four brothers, Junious A. Nevitt Jr., Dean Nevitt and Gary Nevitt all of Louisville and Bill Nevitt of Lexington; two sisters, Bernice Dillon of Louisville and Janie Barker of Newport Richey, FL; 10 grandchildren, Anthony Nevitt, Britt Nevitt, Scott Nevitt, Shawn Nevitt, Nick Nevitt, Taylor Nevitt, Garret Nevitt, Brandon Nevitt, Krystin Hooton and Sarah Nevitt; and two great grandchildren, Gage Hooton and Aroura Nevitt.

Alma Minton Luttrell, age 96, of Brownsville, KY departed this life on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at her residence. The Edmonson County native was born on January 2, 1921 to the late Tom and Mary Elizabeth Minton . She was married to the late John Arnold Luttrell.

Alma was a homemaker, a member of the Green River Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #577 and a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory, one daughter, Martha Beckner (Darrell) of Bowling Green, KY; four grandchildren, Kevin Luttrell (Courtney), Brooke Vincent (Jeremy) and Chase Beckner (Carly) all of Bowling Green, KY and Danielle Luttrell of Smiths Grove, KY; four great grandchildren, Alex Luttrell, Spencer Vincent, Beck Vincent, and Jax Beckner; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Minton; one daughter-in-law, Janette Luttrell; special caregivers, Sheila Preston, Karen Minton, Lisa Hunt and Frances Davis. She was also preceded in death by one son, Danny Luttrell.

Interment will be in Pleasant Union Church Cemetery.

​Billie Jane Whitaker, 66, of Bee Spring passed away at 6:50 AM May 23, 2017 at her home.
 
The Edmonson County native was a homemaker, and a volunteer at Edmonson Co. Senior Center. She was a daughter of the late Belve Vincent and Altie Vincent. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Leah Whitaker; a brother, Truman Meredith; and two sisters, Betty Jean Rasdell and Patty Lynn McKinney.
 
Funeral will be at 1:00 PM Saturday at Christian Home General Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member, with burial to follow in Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-5 PM Friday at Gravil Funeral Home and after 6:00 PMFriday at the church.

​Ora Lillian Tarrance, 78, of Bowling Green passed away May 20, 2017 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Warren County native was a homemaker and a member of Big Reedy Church of Christ. She was a daughter of the late John William Cox and Aline Carter Cox and the wife of the late Jimmy Tarrance. She was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Martin.
 
Funeral will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Big Reedy Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Tuesday and after 9:00 AM Wednesday.
 
Surviving are a brother, Edward E. Cox Sr. of Scottsville; a sister, Margie Kessinger of Delafield; and several nieces and nephews, including Edward Cox Jr. (Michelle), Edward Cox III, Destiny Cox and Sade Cox.

​Dr. Rhonda Ann Patterson, age 51, of Brownsville KY departed this life on Friday, May 19, 2017 at her residence. The Carthage, MO native was born on September 19, 1965 to the late Ronald Ray Patterson and Patricia Steeley Streng of Crossville, TN.

She was a professor of Biology at Western KY University and Southern Mississippi University.

Besides her mother, she is survived by one brother, David Patterson (Vickie) of Austin, TX; one sister, Elizabeth Schneider (Steve) of Kansas City, MO; one nephew, Ian Schneider; four nieces, Erin Zimmerman (Tim), Meredith Schneider, Marilyn Robinson and Priscilla Robinson.

​Johnny Stephen Skaggs, 69, of Brownsville passed away at 9:37 AM May 18, 2017 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Edmonson County native was a dozer/scraper operator retired from Stewart Richey Construction and a member of Mount Pleasant Church of Christ. He was a son of the late Kenneth M. Skaggs and Irene Kinser Skaggs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Skaggs.
 
Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at Gravil Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3-9 PM Saturday and after 12:00 PM Sunday.

Eleanor Gail Dickson, age 81, of Mammoth Cave, KY departed this life on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. The Nyack, New York native was born on August 24, 1935 to the late Andrew Joseph Lawrence and May Eleanor Polhemus Lawrence. She was married to the late Randolph Dickson, Sr.

Eleanor was a homemaker and a member of Lighthouse at Nolin Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory, four sons, Randolph Dickson, Jr. (Mary Lou) of Shepherdsville, KY, Larry Dickson of Hawesville, KY, Tommy Dickson of Shepherdsville, KY, and Roger Dickson of Bee Spring, KY; one daughter, Joy Tunks (Joseph) of Mammoth Cave, KY; two brothers, Warren Lawrence (Barbara) and Gary Lawrence both of New York; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

William “Pee Wee “ Gross age 84, of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Brownsville, KY. The Edmonson County native was born February 7, 1933 to the late Luther A. and Anna York Gross. He was married to the late Julia F. Gross.

He was a supervisor and machinist for Major Tool & Machine and was a member of the Church of Christ and attended the Senior Center of Edmonson County. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and helping people.

He leaves to honor his memory, one son, William E. Gross of Brownsville, KY; one grandson, John Lee (Kayla) of Smiths Grove, KY; one great grandson, Gunner Bo Lee; one brother, Randolph Gross of Bowling Green, KY; one sister, Laurene Stewart (Randall) of Mt. Washington, KY; several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Anderson, Charles, Alvin, Murray, Morris and Jack Dean Gross and one sister, Tracy Biddle.

Interment will be in New Liberty Cemetery.

​Elizabeth Page Brooks, age 87, of Mammoth Cave, KY departed this life on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at her residence in Mammoth Cave, KY. The Edmonson County native was born on March 29, 1930 to the late Willie and Mary Freeman Meredith. She was married to the late Earl Page and Amos Brooks.

Elizabeth was a former bus driver for the Edmonson County School System, former Green River Eastern Star and a member of Union Light Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory, four sons, Steve Page (Sandy) of Park City, KY, Harry Page (Sue) of Sweeden, KY, Roy Page (Amanda) of Mammoth Cave, KY, and Ray Page (fiancé Margret) of Brownsville, KY; two daughters, Judy Page of Bowling Green, KY, and Audrey Sanders of Mammoth Cave, KY; two step-sons, Ronnie Brooks (Donna) of Bee Spring, KY, and Jeff Brooks (Mary) of Chalybeate, KY; two step-daughters, Michelle Stevenson (Leo) of Bee Spring, KY, and Vonda Ashley (Daymon) of Bee Spring, KY; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

​ Harrison Dodson Jr., 80, of Bee Spring passed away May 5, 2017 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Barren County native was a retired employee of Hart County Creamery. He was the son of the late Harrison Dodson Sr. and Gertrude Eubank Dodson.

​Samuel C. Ray, 66, of Brownsville passed away at 10:50 AM May 6, 2017 at Edmonson Care and Rehab.
 
The Louisville native was an auctioneer. He was a son of the late William Clyde Ray and Lois Emogene Smith Ray. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Ray and Doug Ray.
 
Memorial service will be at 6:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Wednesday.
 
Surviving are two daughters, Londia Vincent of Mammoth Cave and Patricia Ray of Brownsville; two sisters, Jannett Ritchie of Russellville and Susan Risen of Louisville; and four grandchildren, Brittany Roby, Samantha Grom, Nathan Morgan and Daniel Coble.

Willie Steven "Toe Man" Bogle, Jr. 36 of Bowling Green died Friday, May 5, 2017 at his residence.

The Warren County native was a son of the late Willie "Trap" Bogle, Sr. and Wanda Kay Butler Bogle who survives. He was a Carpet Installer and attended Northside Freewill Baptist church.

His survivors include his mother, Kay Bogle; three sisters, Tina Lawrence, Donna Joe Beltran, Cindy Bogle; several aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and cousins. His companion of 12 years Courtney Blair; special friends, Angie, Steven, Brandon and Wendy.

Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Northside Freewill Baptist Church with burial in Boiling Springs Cemetery.

​Rachel Skaggs Wilson, 88, of Chalybeate passed away at 7:22 PM April 30, 2017 in Brownsville.

The Edmonson County native was a retired supervisor at Mammoth Cave National Park, where she was also the first female cave guide. She was a member of Silent Grove Missionary Baptist Church since 1943 and was a charter member of Capitol Hill Homemakers. She was a daughter of ClemonSkaggs Huff Butler and the wife of the late A.G. Wilson. She was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Joe Wilson.

Funeral will be at 3:00 PM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hawkins Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Tuesday, 1-8 PM Wednesday and after 1:00 PM Thursday.

Surviving are two grandchildren, Danielle Pearson (Daniel) and Cody Wilson (Heather); five great grandchildren, Nicholas Pearson, Emilee Pearson, Mia Wilson, Colton Pearson and Lyla Wilson; a daughter by love, Reva Vincent; several step brothers and step sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

​Walker Ray Vincent, 80, of Grassland passed away at 5:45 PM April 29, 2017 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Edmonson County native was a construction worker, truck driver, farmer and was a member of Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Leo Vincent and Hilda Louise Bullock Vincent.
 
Funeral will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Holly Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday, 9 AM-9 PM Wednesday and after 9 AM Thursday.

Carlton Osborne, age 86, of Brownsville, KY departed this life on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his residence. The Warren County native was born on August 29, 1930 to the late Ray and Bertha Palmer Osborne. He was married to Eva Chapman Osborne, who survives.

Carlton was a maintenance worker for Firestone, a farmer and a former Marine. He was a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church.

Besides his wife he leaves to honor his memory, five sons, Mark Osborne (Deborah) of Hendersonville, TN, Mike Osborne of Kentucky, Steve Jaggers of Chalybeate, KY, Tommy Jaggers (Jodie) of Chalybeate, KY and Daniel Jaggers (Elsie) of California; two daughters, Paula Hartis of Morgantown, KY and Pam Hester (Robert) of Park City, KY; two sisters, Catherine Goodwin and Ray Dean Madison both of Bowling Green; eighteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Interment will be in Math Minton Cemetery.
