Julia Gertrude Basham Hardin, 88, of Roundhill passed away peacefully with family by her side May 31, 2024 at her home.
The Edmonson County native was a homemaker and a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Wiley Basham and Pearl Miller Basham and the wife of the late Randall Leroy “Slick” Hardin. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Basham and Phillip Basham; four sisters, Leon Spinks, Luzon Forbes, Inez Elmore and Laverne Basham; and two grandsons, Brandon Tarter and Jason Hardin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cub Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM-7:00 PM Wednesday and after 10:00 AM Thursday. Janis Clemmons, age 79, of Brownsville, departed this life on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at her residence. The Edmonson County native was born on August 3, 1944 to the late Roy and Daphene Johnson Musick. She was married to her loving husband, Romie G. Clemmons, until they were parted by his death on May 25, 2020.
Janis was a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church, and worked for many years as a cosmetologist. In recent years, she spent most days reading, crocheting, gardening, or going by the cemetery to visit with the love of her life. Loraine retired as a unit clerk from both TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital and MediPlex. She was saved when she was eleven years old at Cove Hollow United Baptist Church, and later joined Chalybeate United Baptist Church, where she remained a member. Her happiest moments were those by Mike’s side, sharing laughs and wonderful memories with their family and friends. Judy worked many years as the office manager at Park Mammoth Resort. She had also previously worked as a social worker for the Job Corps, and a teller at South Central and Edmonton State Banks. She was a member of Park City United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats fan. She leaves to honor her memory-- her sister, Barbara Clark, along with several nieces and nephews. The Grayson County native was born on April 15, 1959 to the late Doris and Charles Edward Richards, Sr. She was married to her devoted husband and help mate of forty years, Mike Ramsey, who survives. Patty worked as a registered nurse at Twin Lakes Regional Hospital for many years, until her health began to fail. She was a member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church. The Lord blessed Patty with many gifts. She enjoyed playing the bass guitar and piano, making jewelry, crocheting and floral design. He also blessed others through her Godly gifts. She had the voice of an angel. At an early age, Patty and her family would travel to different churches and bless their congregations with their heavenly, spiritual voices. She was a daughter of the late Willard Hogan and Bessie Lacefield Hogan. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bettty Sue Brooks and two brothers, Boyd Hogan and Jeff Hogan. Johnnie Owlen Vincent, 63, of Elizabethtown passed away May 11, 2024 in Shepherdsville.
The Edmonson County native was a drywall finisher for TMP Construction and a member of Christian Home General Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Corbett Vincent and Nancy Alice Woodcock Lewis. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy Lou Vincent and Frances Vincent and a brother, Keith Oneal Vincent. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will take place 12-7 PM Friday and after 11:00 AM Saturday. Surviving are three children, Chris Vincent (Jennifer) of Shepherdsville, Alicia Jean Vincent of Oahu, HI and Justin Vincent of Mount Washington; a brother, Mendell Vincent (Carolyn) of Bee Spring; a sister, Lori Vincent of Bee Spring; a grandson, Caleb Vincent; and a great grandson, Kane Vincent. Terry Allen Cowles (1953-2024) was a devoted family man, friend, community member and Christian. Terry was born to Larma and Norma Cowles on December 27, 1953, and was the youngest of eight children.
In the fall of 1974, a young lady visiting his church caught his eye and as he said, "It was love at first sight." On April 3, 1976, Terry wed his bride, Betty Darlene Davison. Their 48-year marriage was blessed with two daughters that he was immensely proud of. Those daughters are continuing Terry's legacy. Brooke Vincent (Jeremy) provided Terry with his very best friends, his grandsons, Colby and Cooper Vincent. His youngest daughter, Meagan Cowles (Stephen Hoffman), have taught him that his grandpuppy Oliver is to be loved as much as his other boys. One of Terry's strongest traits was his incredible work ethic. He has worked for decades as a farmer. He spent time as an EMT and as a laborer for his brother's business, Cowles Concrete. Additionally, he spent time employed at Trace Die Cast, SR of Kentucky, and he began working at Bowling Green Metalforming when it opened until he became ill in March. Terry was also active in the community. He was awarded the FFA American Farmer Degree, was a past chairman of the Edmonson County Soil Conservation Committee Board of Supervisors, Past President of the Edmonson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, and served on the State of Kentucky Farm Bureau Natural Resources Advisory Committee. Also, while working on the Farm Bureau Committees, Terry helped establish the local Edmonson County scholarship programs for graduating seniors and helped begin the Farm Safety Day Program for the county. Terry has been a lifelong member of Boiling Springs Church of Christ. He is survived by two of his brothers, Kenneth Cowles (Linda) and Ronald Cowles. He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, and his parents. Terry's funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Pine Grove Presbyterian Cemetery. Randy Dennis Craine, 64, passed away on Tuesday, May 07, 2024, in Glasgow, KY after a lengthy illness. He was born January 19,1960 in Barren County, KY to the late Rondal and Rachel Hatcher Craine. Randy was a 1978 graduate of Barren County High School and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He retired after working numerous years for Dana Corporation and worked as a farmer.

She married Simpson Odell Duncan on October 4, 1958 and to this union were born two sons Terry Dale Duncan and Bobby Joe Duncan. She worked at Eaton corporation until 1998 and Walmart until 2005. She was a devoted housewife, mother, and special Aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews like a grandma making time for them always. A good friend to everyone she met, she enjoyed traveling and visiting many different places. She was a member of the Shadyland Church of Christ and attended faithfully until her health made it impossible for her to attend regularly. She was an excellent cook, especially her desserts for which many enjoyed. She was determined to get better, never gave up, and fought hard until the end of her life. She is survived by her husband, Simpson Odell Duncan, son Bobby Joe Duncan, sister Barbara Jean Burnett, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Clarence Johnson, mother Gladys Irene Bolton-Johnson, son Terry Dale Duncan, sister Alice Lorene Johnson-Wilson, and brother Virgil Leon “Tomboy” Johnson. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shadyland Church of Christ with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m-1p.m. Tuesday at the church. The Edmonson and Warren County native was a large truck operator who drove for many years with an excellent driving record in both the Louisville and South Central Kentucky areas and was a member of Red Hill General Baptist Church. He enjoyed driving, fishing, horse racing and trips to Florida. He was the son of the late Fonzo Gravil and Leona Higgs Gravil and the husband of the late Frances Patterson Gravile. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Lee Gravile and a son-in-law, Al Bizzell. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Doyle Cemetery.
