VISITATION 10—11 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2026 The P.L.A.C.E. Worship Center MEMORIAL SERVICE 11 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2026 The P.L.A.C.E. Worship Center ARRANGEMENTS BY PATTON FUNERAL HOME CAVE CITY CHAPEL Jack Johnson, age 93, of Mt. Washington, peacefully departed this life on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived. Born in Edmonson County on November 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Estil Alonzo and Fern Blanton Johnson. For many years, he shared a devoted marriage with the love of his life, Shelby Jean Douglas Johnson, until her passing on December 1, 1987. Though he deeply missed her, the love they built together remained in his heart throughout the rest of his days.
Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, carrying with him a strong sense of duty, honor and resilience throughout his life. Raised with a remarkable work ethic, he began working at just thirteen years old and never slowed down. He dedicated twenty-five years as a machinist at Brown Williamson and later worked more than twenty years at Cissell Manufacturing. Work was never simply a job to Jack — it was a reflection of the pride he took in providing for his family and the satisfaction he found in staying busy. In truth, if his health had allowed it, he would have continued working up until the end. Jack was known for his independence, determination and unmistakable grit. He had a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor and a way of bringing life to every conversation. He loved to tinker, repair and figure things out with his own hands, rarely meeting a problem he would not try to fix. Whether it was a stereo, a broken appliance or something others had long given up on, Jack enjoyed the challenge of making it work again. He valued hard work, self-reliance and taking care of the people he loved. His strength, wisdom and hardworking spirit leave behind a legacy that will continue to live on in those who knew him best. Jack was a member of Poplar Spring United Baptist Church and held close the values of faith, family and perseverance throughout his life. He leaves to honor his memory— his son, Gary Johnson (Teri) of Bardstown, KY; his grandsons, Thomas “Jack” Johnson and Dylan Wayne Johnson; his sister, Jan Sharp of Sarasota, FL; sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy Johnson, Wanda Douglas, Carolyn Thiessen, Teresa Douglas, Sandy Johnson and Mac Douglas; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts. Brian Lee Woodcock, age 53, of Bee Spring, KY, peacefully departed this life on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Edmonson County on August 18, 1972, he was the son of Dallas Woodcock and Rhonda Webb Brown. Brian shared nineteen wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, best friend, and soulmate, Dana Anderson Woodcock, who survives. Together, they built a life centered around love, laughter, family, and unwavering devotion to one another.
Brian was a hardworking man who dedicated many years to Scotty’s Speed & Custom and Bada Corporation in Bowling Green, and most recently worked at T. Marzetti’s in Horse Cave. More than anything, he was known for the kind of person he was — humble, genuine, and quietly selfless. Saved at an early age at Pleasant Union United Baptist Church, Brian recently attended Oakland Baptist Church and Living Hope Baptist Church alongside his wife, children and grandchildren. Though shy by nature and content to stay out of the spotlight, those who knew Brian best knew the depth of his heart. He possessed a gentle spirit, a heart of gold, and a sense of humor that could light up even the hardest days. Brian found joy in life’s simple pleasures and loved anything outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and classic cars were among his greatest passions, especially his treasured 1955 Chevy BelAir, jokingly referred to as his “mistress”. Many cherished memories were made in the garage beside his dad, tinkering for hours on their beloved cars or making trips together to the Tri-Five Nationals in Bowling Green. He also loved movies, classic rock, and country music — especially Hank Williams Jr. — and had a deep fascination with historical figures such as Billy the Kid and Sheriff Buford Pusser, attending numerous Sheriff Buford Pusser Festivals in Tennessee over the years. Yet, above all his hobbies and interests, Brian’s greatest pride and deepest love was his family. He loved fiercely and loyally, always putting those he cared about before himself. Whether as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, or friend, Brian’s quiet strength and unconditional love left a lasting mark on everyone blessed to know him.
