The Edmonson County native was born on March 30, 1936 to the late Lon Webb and Ella Poteet Webb. She was married to the late James “Cotton” McCrady and the late Edwin Brooks. Nelda was a seamstress for Brownsville Manufacturing Co., a manager at Mammoth Cave National Park and a housewife. She was a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. Walt "Thudy" Childress, 52 of Bowling Green, passed away peacefully with his wife and close friends at his bedside Monday, June 22, 2015 at his residence. He was well know for his skill in Carpentry, and loved to ride motorcycles as well as playing with his 3 "furry children" - Max, Lacey, and Jenna.

Thudy chose to be cremated, and will be scattered at Gulf Shores, Alabama and Deal's Gap - "Tail of the Dragon" where he and his wife took multiple motorcycle trips.
