Nelda McCrady Brooks, 79, of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Friday, June  26, 2015, at her residence. The Edmonson County native was born on March 30, 1936 to the late Lon Webb and  Ella Poteet Webb.  She was married to the late  James “Cotton”  McCrady and the late Edwin Brooks.

Nelda was a seamstress for Brownsville Manufacturing Co., a manager at Mammoth Cave National Park and a housewife.  She was a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. 

She is survived by  four daughters, Carolyn Carroll (Danny) and Angie Torrence both of Brownsville, KY and Jacquie Fincher and Emily Kirk both of Bowling Green, KY; one son, Lonnie McCrady of Brownsville, KY and one sister, Jane Johnson of Louisville, KY; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Interment will be in Pleasant Union Church Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Patton officiating.

Walt "Thudy" Childress, 52 of Bowling Green, passed away peacefully with his wife and close friends at his bedside Monday, June 22, 2015 at his residence. The Cub Run, Kentucky native was the son of the late Howard and Lillian Childress. He was preceded in death by one brother. Thudy was a Self Employed Carpenter. He was well know for his skill in Carpentry, and loved to ride motorcycles as well as playing with his 3 "furry children" - Max, Lacey, and Jenna. 

He is survived by his wife of 29 years; Tammy D. Childress, Bowling Green, 3 sisters and 6 brothers, and a multitude of great friends. Thudy chose to be cremated, and will be scattered at Gulf Shores, Alabama and Deal's Gap - "Tail of the Dragon" where he and his wife took multiple motorcycle trips.

Deloris Dean Renfro, age 82, of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.  The Edmonson County native was born on February 12, 1933 to the late Bert and Callie Skaggs Browning. She was married to late Bro. Fred Renfro.

She worked as a seamstress at Brownsville Manufacturing Co. and Kellwood Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Midway United Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory, two daughters, Dianne Sanders (Terry) of Lincoln, KY, and Susan Stice (Jeff) of Brownsville, KY; one brother, Richard Browning of Brownsville, KY; two sisters, Patricia Carroll (Elba) of Sweeden, KY and Vickie Vincent (Leslie) of Roanoke, VA; five grandchildren, Nicole Lindsey (Darren), Rose Anne Johnson (Brent), Rebecca Basham (Travis), Derek Stice (Denise) and Amanda Davis (Hunter); three step Grandchildren, Darrell Sanders (Nina), Randy Sanders (Maya), and Sandy Embry (Randall);  ten great grandchildren, and seven step great grandchildren.

On June 7, 2015, Robert Hunter Banks O'Brien, 33, son of Tanya and Joe O'Brien, while kayaking, passed suddenly from complications of MS. 

Hunter enjoyed outdoor sports including wake boarding, snow skiing, kayaking, surfing, mountain biking, dirt biking, camping, fishing, off-roading, running and observing nature. He loved life and lived it to the fullest in his short years.

Hunter will be dearly missed by all his family and the innumerable friends across the nation. 

His loving family would like everyone to know that he had been a lifeguard , taught swim lessons, and lettered on the high school swim team.

Peggy Jo Vincent Jaggers, age 63, of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. The Edmonson County native was born on November 13, 1951 to the late Ruth Webb Vincent and Kenneth T. Vincent.  She was married to her devoted husband of thirty-four years, Stanley Jaggers, who survives.

Peggy Jo retired from the Edmonson County Circuit Court Clerk’s office as a Deputy Clerk.  She was also a member of Green River Eastern Star and Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. 

Besides her husband, she was survived by one sister, Ann Stewart (Buddy) of Brownsville, KY; a special niece, Stephanie Stewart Gibson (Jerry “Hoot”) of Brownsville, KY and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Bobby Elmore, age 63, of Shelbyville, KY, departed this life on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at his residence in Shelbyville, KY.  The Edmonson County native was born on April 26, 1952 to the late Lee Elmore and Lula Mae Poteet Elmore who survives.

He worked as a electronics technician at Siemens Medical and was a member of the Kentucky Motorcycle Association.

Besides his mother, he leaves to honor his memory, two sons, Erik Elmore (Ann Marie) of Auburn, WA, and Thomas Elmore (Sara) of Shelbyville, KY; three sisters, Pat Hawks (Tonie) of Wingfield, KY, Sheron Harper (Byron) of Smiths Grove, KY, Becky Elmore of Owensboro, KY; former wives, Marian Gayle Hatfield of Louisville, KY, and Virginia Marie Elmore of Somerset, KY.

Olene Gravil Miles, 77, of Louisville passed away June 19, 2015 in Louisville.
 
The Edmonson County native was a retired mortgage officer at Community Trust Bank... in Campbellesville. She was a daughter of the late Lum Gravil and Mae Whobrey Gravil. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Trenton Gravil and Bert Gravil.
 
Funeral will be at 11 AM Wednesday at Southeast Christian Church in Crestwood, where she was a member, with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Tuesday at Newcomer Funeral Home at 235 Juneau Rd. in Louisville and after 9 AMWednesday at the church.

Noma Decker Friedley, age 100, of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Edmonson Health Center in Brownsville, KY.  The Grayson County native was born on April 6, 1915 to the late Harrison and Ida Stevenson Decker. She was married to the late Melton “Buddy” Friedley.

She was a retired machine operator at P. Lorillard Company in Louisville, KY. She was a member of the Green River Eastern Star and Pleasant Union United Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory, one daughter, Ann Dennison of Louisville, KY; one son, Riley Cureton (Chris) of Peoria, IL; six grandchildren, Jana Reinhart (Mike), Jay Cureton,Dallas Cureton (Karen), Steve Cureton (Sally), Ricky Dennison, and Sandra Madison; 12 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren She was also preceded in death by one son Elbert Cureton and one grandson Denny Cureton.

Ronnie Lee Overfelt, 49, of Glasgow, KY departed this life on Sunday, June 7, 2015 in Louisville. The Tuscola, IL native was born on February 20, 1966 to the late Rondal and Barbara Sue Hester Overfelt. He was married to Judy Tarter Overfelt, who survives.

He was a diesel mechanic and a member of Free Bethel General Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Brandi Taylor Bowlds (Eric) of Brownsville, KY, Ashley Sue Clark of Louisville, KY, Katelyn Overfelt of Cave City, KY and Lauren Overfelt of Glasgow, KY; one brother, Jeff Overfelt (Tina) of Munfordville, KY; three sisters, Stephanie Overfelt and Shelly Overfelt VanDiver both of Bowling Green, KY and Rondal Overfelt Manning (James) of Franklin, KY; five grandchildren, Miguel Likens, Chloe Bowlds, Riley Bowlds, Peyton Taylor and Carson Clark and several nieces and nephews. Wallace “Wally” Herndon, Jr., age 45, of  Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Saturday, June 6, 2015 in  Elizabethtown, KY.  The Manassas, VA native was born on February 4, 1970  to  Wallace Gordon Herndon, Sr.  and Beverly Ann  Blake  Herndon .  

He was  a retired district manager for the Social Security Administration , an Army Special Forces veteran  of Desert Storm and Desert Shield and a member of Poplar Spring United Baptist Church.   

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Herndon of Brownsville, KY; one daughter, Rachel Herndon Rainey (Gregory) of Lexington, KY; parents, Wallace and Beverly Herndon of Culpeper, VA and one sister, Carrie Herndon of Culpeper, VA and several nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by one sister, Lisa Herndon King. 

Interment will be in Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA.  Bro. Jerry Vincent will officiate at the funeral service at Poplar  Springs United Baptist Church.

Romie Vincent 80, of Mammoth Cave, KY, departed this life on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born on November 17, 1934 to the late Clellan and Nora Holland Vincent. He was married to Shirley Ann Duff Vincent who survives.

He was a retired construction worker and bus driver of the Edmonson County Board of Education. He was a member of  Cub Run Masonic Lodge #910 F&AM and Stockholm United Baptist Church.

Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Bruce Vincent (Cindy) of Mammoth Cave, KY, Marty Vincent (Joy) of Lexington, KY, and Danny Vincent (Melanie) of Mammoth Cave, KY; two daughters, Karen Meredith (Gary) of Cub Run, KY, Phyllis Hardin (Jimmie) of Leitchfield, KY; one brother, Ranze Vincent (Marlene) of Louisville, KY; eleven grandchildren, Greg Johnson (Candi), Crissy Alford (Chris), Amy Polley (Jason), Jennifer Vincent, Shelley Thompson (Brandon), Brian Vincent, Sarah Vincent, Jill Vincent, Eddie Hardin (Makayla), Matthew Meredith (Amy), Brittany Hardin, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Kinser, age 56, of Anneta, KY, departed this life on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Kentuckiana Medical Center. The Louisville native was born on March 11, 1959 to the late Kellie Pierce and Ida Scott Kinser and was the husband of Ella Saltsman Kinser, who survives.

He was a retired maintenance worker for the City of Leitchfield and a member of the Navy and National Guard, Friends of Nolin Lake and Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. He was a retired member of Anneta Volunteer Fire Department

Gordon S. Moody, age 87, of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  The Edmonson County native was born on January 28, 1928 to the late Joseph S. Moody and Nellie Ray Moody. He was married to the late Marguerite Davis Moody.

He was a farmer and former owner of Marguerite's Flower Shop and Davis and Moody Construction. He was a charter member of the Edmonson County Lions Club and Edmonson County Saddle Club, he was also a member of  Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. 

He leaves to honor his memory, one son Mark W. Ruth Lindsey Gero, 93, of Nashville passed away at 6:30 PM May 30, 2015 at Creekside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Madison, TN.
 
The Edmonson County native was a homemaker and a member of Broadway Missionary Baptist Church in Leitchfield. She was a daughter of the late Jack Lindsey and Annie Luttrell Lindsey and the wife of the late Fred Gero. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Aline Vincent and Helen Bullock; and two brothers, Walker Lindse...y and Allen Lindsey.
 
Funeral will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Luttrell Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 PM Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday.
