​Lt. Colonel Leonard “Buddy” Webb of Crestwood, KY, passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Louisville on June 28, 2017.  He was retired from the United States Air Force after 25 years of service, after which he was Vice President of Operations for Goodwill Industries of Missouri, and retired finally from Southern School Supply in 1996.  Although in poor health recently, Leonard remained an inspiration because of his Christian witness and deep affection for his family and friends.

Col. Webb is survived by his wife, Marian Lane Webb; three children, Frank Webb, Elizabeth Cooke (David), Margaret Webb (Celeste); brother, Johnny Webb (Glenna); sister, Jill Skaggs (Steve); daughter-in-law, Gail C. Webb; five grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah, Matthew, Alyson and Mark and three great grandchildren, Matthew, Eliana and Mary Lane.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Virginia Webb; sister, Mae Dean Thigpen and brothers, Jack Webb, Jimmy Webb and Jerry Webb.

​Michael Christopher Whittington, age 45 of Leonidas died Saturday June 24, 2017 at his home.  He was born in Portland, IN on May 8, 1972 the son of Richard D. and Lisa N. (Spillman) Whittington.  Michael graduated from Mendon High School with the class of 1990.  He later attended Glen Oaks Community College and Bowling Green Technical Institute.  Michael was employed at American Metal Fab in Three Rivers.  He enjoyed working on cars and small engines.  He was a softball and basketball coach while living in Kentucky.  He enjoyed playing video games and watching NASCAR events. 
 
Michael was married to Tracie L. Moyer on Oct. 5, 2012 in Centreville.  She survives along with two children, Luke Whittington of Leonidas and Kayla Whittington of Brownsville, KY;   four step-children, Christian Adams of Colorado Springs, CO, Jared Adams of Mendon, Jodi Reeves of Leonidas, and Sean Sherbern of Lawton; his mother, Lisa Whittington of Elizabeth, IN; his father and step-mother Richard and Linda Whittington of Brownsville, KY;  brother, Spencer M. Whittington II of Leonidas; sister Trisha M. (Eric) Ray of Schoolcraft; Step-sister, Brandi McNeil of Brownsville, KY; several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. 
 
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Mendon United Methodist Church.  Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with Rev. ​Dale Ashley, age 78, of Sweeden, KY departed this life on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his residence in Sweeden, KY. The Edmonson County, KY native was born on March 19, 1939 to the late William Elbert Ashley and Ruby Carroll Ashley.

He retired in 2011 after 50 years with the Edmonson County School System as a teacher, guidance counselor and finally Director of Special Education. He enjoyed a second career during this time as a photographer. At age 11 he professed faith in Christ and was baptized and joined Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until his death.

He leaves to honor his memory one sister, Lynne Ashley Stewart (Eddie) of Louisville, KY; one nephew, James Stewart (Amanda) of Louisville, KY; two great nieces, Madelynn K. Stewart and Evelyn Claire Stewart; one great nephew, James Noah Stewart; one aunt, Wilda Larson (Richard) of Wayzata, MN; friend and caregiver, Chester Carroll, as well as many other friends.

Interment will be in Sweeden Church Cemetery.

​Robert Christopher Outlaw, 43 of Mammoth Cave, died Thursday, June 15, 2017 at his residence. He was a native of Louisville, a member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church and worked for Denham-Blythe Construction Company.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Outlaw.

He is survived by his wife, Brandi Alexander Outlaw; three children, Alban Outlaw of Dubach, LA and Isaiah Christopher Outlaw of Mammoth Cave and Veronica Hannon of Indiana; a step son, Brandon Rauh of Louisville; his parents, Sharon and David House of Mammoth Cave; a sister, Paula Jean Outlaw of Mammoth Cave; one grandchild, Paytyn; his grandmother, Mary Jean Phillips of Louisville; his mother and father-in-law, Mary Ann and Doug Arnett of Crestwood; a sister-in-law, Megan Alexander of Louisville; brother-in-law, Michael Matthews of Denver, CO and one niece and one nephew.

​Shirley Ann McGrew Miller, 76, of Auburn passed away at 1:04 PM Thursday June 15, 2017 at Auburn Health Care.
 
The Edmonson County native was a seamstress for Brownsville Garment Co., a sales clerk for Dollar General in Brownsville and a member of New Home General Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late William Stanley McGrew and Iva Mae Decker McGrew. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Miller.
 
Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brownsville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday.

​Betty Joan Davis, age 82, of Wingfield, KY departed this life on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at her residence. The Jefferson County, KY native was born on July 10, 1934 to the late Stanley and Helen Lay Vincent, and was married to the late Junior W. Davis.

Betty was a homemaker and a member of Wingfield United Baptist Church. 

She leaves to honor her memory one son, Thomas Duane Davis of Wingfield; three daughters, Betty June Cannon (Glen), Carol Sue Saling (Keith) and Lisa Kay Reeves (Travis)  all of Wingfield; one brother, Elmer Vincent (Linda) of Bowling Green; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by one son, Allan Ray Davis; one grandson, Mark Allan Davis and one brother, Ernest “Dee” Vincent.

​Elladean Lindsey Cales, age 85, of Brownsville, KY passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 in Brownsville, KY.  She was born on  November 28, 1931 in  Edmonson County to the late  Paul and Josie Browning Skaggs and was the wife of the late Millard Lindsey, Thomas Bolton and Kermit Cales.

Elladean was a  retired clerk for Dollar General Store and a member of Green River Eastern Star and Chalybeate United Baptist Church.

​Robert Franklin "Frank" Spainhoward, 78, of Sweeden passed away at 8:46 AM Thursday June 8, 2017 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Edmonson County native was a paint and auto body repair specialist, a member of Edmonson County Saddle Club and a member of New Salem General Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Norman Spainhoward and Flora Lindsey Spainhoward. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Spainhoward; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Spainhoward.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Brownsville General Baptist Church with burial to follow in Brownsville Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home and after 10 AM Sunday at the church.

William Howard Minton, 76, of Brownsville passed away at 11:09 AM June 5, 2017 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Edmonson County native was a carpenter, business manager for Local 433 Sheet Metal Worker's Union, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Hobart Minton and Zona Vincent Minton. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil Minton, Percy Minton and Ray Max Minton; and a sister, Virgie Woosley.
 
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Gravil Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM Friday.
 
Surviving are a daughter, Nichole Bratcher of Brownsville; two sisters, Betty Ann Raymer of Brownsville and Billie Gray Prall of Henryville, IN; two grandchildren, Kayleigh Bratcher and Kole Bratcher; and several nieces and nephews. ​

​Ruth Amanda "Mandy" Wallace Miller, 24, of Corinth passed away June 1, 2017 in Grant County.

The Leslie County native was a food server. She was a daughter of the late Stephen James Hensley and Cordia Lou Jones Hensley of London, who survives.

Kellie R. “Ken” Wood , age 87, of Plymouth,. NC departed this life on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Plymouth, NC. The Edmonson County, KY native was born on November 10, 1929 to the late Alton and Ethel Napper Wood and was married to the late Marion Bray Ellis Wood and Shirley Wood.

Kellie was a 25yr. Korean and Vietnam War Marine Veteran and a deputy Sherriff for the Washington Co. Sherriff Dept. He was of the Holiness faith.

He leaves to honor his memory, one daughter, Brenda Davenport of Plymouth, NC; two grandsons, Kellie Alexander and James Alexander (Heather) ; seven great grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren and two sisters, Leola Carroll (Randell) and Rita Lindsey (Terry) both of Bee Spring, KY. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Larry, Jimmy, W.L. and Winston Wood.

Interment will be in Key Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Marines.

​Helen Lindsey Beckham, age 87, of Brownsville, KY departed this life on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Edmonson Healthcare Center. The Edmonson County, KY native was born on August 20, 1929 to the late George Wright and Lena Inez Gibson Lindsey. She was the devoted wife of the late Joe Kenneth Beckham.

Helen was a housewife and a member of Fairview United Baptist Church.

Glenn Davis, age 61, of Brownsville, KY departed this life on Thursday, May 31, 2017 at his residence. The Louisville, KY native was born on July 11, 1955 to the late Lawrence and Eunice Elmore Davis . He was married to the late Linda Graham Davis.

Glenn formerly worked at Cutler Hammer and was a member of Fairview United Baptist Church.
