Ruth Alice Smith Temple, 95 of Brownsville Kentucky formerly of Erwin, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Edmonson Center.
The Harnett County, NC native was a homemaker and a member of East Erwin Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Herbert Norris and Minnie Cook Norris and the wife of the late Joseph Luke Smith and the late Ira Temple. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 begining at 12:00 pm at West and Dunn Funeral Home Chapel of Erwin, NC. Rev. John Dye, Jr. will be officiating the service. A burial will follow at Erwin Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Gravil Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements. Surviving are her son, Joseph Smith (Debbie) of Brownsville; two sisters, Evelyn Small (Tom) of Clayton, NC and Shirley Pahl of Mooresville, NC, 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and two great great great grandchildren. Robert Sullivan, age 27 of Bowling Green, KY departed this life surrounded by his loving family and friends on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Louisville, KY, where he fought hard and bravely for twenty-eight days. The Warren County native was born on March 14, 1991 to Thomas and Alice Gross Sullivan of Wingfield, and was married to Whitney Tuck Sullivan.
Robert worked for Halls Parking Lot Service. He loved to hunt, fish and work on cars. Besides his parents and his wife, he leaves to honor his memory-- his loving dog, Duke; two sisters, Alma Lynn Chaffin (Moose) of Richardsville and Christina Sullivan of Wingfield; grandmother, Doris Sullivan of Wingfield; three nieces, Stephine Chaffin, Audry Chaffin and Brylee Honeycutt; best friend, Jerry “Shorty” Scarbough and many friends and loved ones. The Edmonson County native was a daughter of the late Clyde and Lois Graham Clemmons. She is preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Clemmons and two sisters, Wanda Blanton Lashley and Freda Brooks. The Southern Recycling yard worker was born Nov. 10, 1968 at the US Army base in Lin Landstuhl, Germany. He was a son of the late John Fuston Sr. and Dale Fuston of Adairville and Renate Hernandez of Clarksville, TN, both of whom survive, and the husband of the late Wendy Mayes Fuston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Red Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday. Buford Thomas Smith, 84, of Cave City, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at TJ Sampson Community Hospital in Glasgow. The Barren County native was born on November 10, 1933 to the late Leonard C. Smith and the late Pearlie Mae Thomas Smith. He was married to the late Genell Janes Smith.
Buford was a U S Army veteran, a farmer and was employed by Dart Container and Park Mammoth Resort. He was a member, deacon and songleader for Basil Chapel United Baptist Church. Buford leaves to honor his memory— one son, Gary L. The Caldwell County native was a disabled Wal-Mart employee and a member of Bristow Church of Christ. She was a daughter of the late Earl Todd and Hilda Sewell Todd of Princeton, KY- who survives. She was also the wife of the late James Lewis Newton. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Todd; and a sister, Carolyn Bray. Robert “Bob” Lich, III, age 75 of Sweeden, KY departed this life on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at his residence. The Pittsburgh, PA native was born on July 1, 1942 to the late Robert Lich, Jr. and Edna Haskel Troutman Lich. He was married to Anna Louise Thompson Lich, who preceded him in death.
Bob was a 1964 graduate of the University of Kentucky and the owner of Lich Plumbing. He was a member of the University of Kentucky Agriculture Alumni Association, and attended Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church. Bob is survived by two sons, Robbie Lich (Robin) of Sweeden, KY and Stewart Lich (Amanda) of Windyville, KY; four grandchildren, Ava Kate Lich, Camden Lich, Josie Lich and Jack Lich; one brother, Jon Lich (Marci); one sister, Nancy Lamm (Terry); two sisters-in law, Katie Jaggers (Bennie) and Linda Breslin and several nieces and nephews. Bob’s wishes were to have his body bequeathed to medical science with interment in Sweeden Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. She was born in Brownsville on March 14, 1918. Mrs. Slaughter was the daughter of the George Lindsey and Lena Gibson Lindsey.
Until her retirement, she was owner and operator of Service Cleaners in Munfordville and Park City. She was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Mrs. Slaughter was preceded in death by her husband William Earl Slaughter, a son Frank Slaughter, a daughter Anna Mae King, an infant daughter, a great-grandson, four brothers and five sisters.
