The Wardale, MO native was a homemaker and member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late David Howard Tyler and Emma Opal Snider Tyler. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ailene Keefover, Linda Myers, Betty Anderson and Carol Robinson; and a brother, Bill Smith. Visitation will be 1-7 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home. The Edmonson County native was a dozer operator for Adwest Mining and attended Jetson Community Church. He was a son of the late Dewyard Hudson and Dolly Higgs Hudson. Wilbur “Red” Childress of Cub Run passed away Tuesday, June 18 at the Medical Center at Caverna, with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Melvin and Lena Wilson Childress.
Red was a farmer, mechanic, carpenter, an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and John Deere tractors. He never met a stranger and loved to talk. Red is survived by his wife of 65 years Georgia Belle Sanders Childress, Three daughters Debra Hawkins and husband Perry, Machelle Holloway and husband John and Shannon Childress. Noah would have started his sophomore year at Edmonson County High School in the fall. He was saved in a revival at Cedar Springs United Baptist Church, and was baptized as a member into the church. Noah loved fishing, riding his dirt bike, hunting and playing all sports. She was born November 18, 1923, in Edmonson County, Kentucky, to the late Harry and Nell Gentry. She is preceded in death by four sisters; Viola France (Ken), Dallas Duvall (Marvin), Jeanette Brown (Doug), and Nell Gentry. Ad is survived by her husband of 67 years, Alvis L. (Al) Sumner; two sons, Alan G. Sumner (Patti) and L. Riley Sumner (Liesa); five grandchildren, Chuck Sumner, Katy Doyle (Chris), Jacob Sumner, Alison Raymer (Josh), and Thomas Sumner; nine great grandchildren, and a brother, Harry A. Gentry (Becky), Raleigh, North Carolina. Ad was a 1941 graduate of Brownsville High School. She joined the war effort as a cockpit electrician for Curtis-Wright; then worked for Reynolds Aluminum and Standard Oil, Louisville, Kentucky. She met Al while working at Standard Oil, and they married December 29, 1951. Ad was a charter member of North View Baptist Church, Lexington, Kentucky, and a current member of Oakland Baptist Church, Oakland, Kentucky.
