Frank "Woody" Sullivan, 87 of Bowling Green died Monday, June 29, 2020 at the Medical Center.
The Edmonson County native was a son of the late Frank and Eithel Poteet Sullivan and husband of the late Edith Marie Poteet Sullivan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Sullivan and a sister, Bonnie Sullivan Hall. Woody was a retired tool maker from Holley Carburetor and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. His survivors include a daughter, Sheila Flener (Sam), two sons, Russell Sullivan (Terry) and David Sullivan (Sheri); two grandchildren, Sarah Pruitt and Samantha Baker (Mica); four great grandchildren, Emily Pruitt, Nolan Baker, Lennon Baker and Zane Baker, a sister-in-law, Reda Sullivan ; and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family will able to pay their repects via a drive thru visitation on Friday from 10-11 a.m. at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. The Jefferson County native was a customer service representative for Waste Management, a shift supervisor for White Castle and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She devoted her life to her husband and son with a caring heart and warm embrace and was known for telling all to "be blessed", which was her favorite phrase. Vickie was a daughter of the late Charles Ray Huff and Frances Nell Wise Huff. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Huff and her grandmother who helped raise her, Annabell Wise. Dickie owned and operated Lindseyville Barber Shop for forty-six years, and drove a bus for Edmonson County schools for over thirty years. He was a faithful member of Midway United Missionary Baptist Church, serving as deacon and song leader for over forty years. Leon worked in maintenance for Burlington Coat Factory. He was a graduate of Park City High School where he played on the State Championship Basketball Team and also pole vaulted on the track and field team. Leon was an Air Force Veteran and a member of Park City Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. He was also a former councilman for Park City. Besides his wife he leaves to honor his memory— one son, Brian Higginbotham; one daughter, Barbara Mattot; two stepsons, Samuel Parker (Jiab) and David Parker (Dawn); one step daughter, Barbara J. Painter (Aubrey); one sister, Pauline Poynter and several step grand and great grandchildren. Born October, 31 1934 in Windyville, KY Brother Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Lucy Davis Woosley, his brother James Woosley and a daughter, Joyanna Woosley. Survivors include his wife Joyce Vincent Woosley, 2 daughters, Teresa (Keith) Murphy, Melanie (Todd) Vincent, 3 Grandchildren, Christy (Mark) Buckles, Joseph (Ali) Vincent and Jocelyn (John) Vincent. Also surviving are 3 Great-Grandchildren, Anna Davis, Gavin and Raylan Vincent. Visitation will be held at Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel Saturday, June 6, 2020 from 12:00 to 7:00pm. Woosley was saved at a young age at Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church where he belonged until he moved his letter to New Home General Baptist Church in 1960. He was ordained as a Baptist minister on July 19, 1985 and pastored several churches. He was also a member of the Washington Meredith Masonic Lodge #355 F&AM and the Local 181 Operators Union. Following his retirement as a Foreman from TVA in 1997, most often you could find Charles in his garden, in which he took great pride. You never left his home without leaving with a gift portion of produce from the garden he used to feed bodies and feed souls. Charles and Joyce were married in Jeffersonville, Indiana, November 1955 and celebrated the arrival of their first daughter, Joyanna in November 1956. While expecting the arrival of Teresa in 1961, they returned home to Edmonson County. The third of the trio of daughters, Melanie, was born in January 1972. As a Grandfather, Charles never missed an opportunity to encourage and raise up his grandchildren, often times using an anecdote or a stroll through the garden to offer his praise, instill wisdom and show a path to a Christ-focused life.
