Bonnie Lee Lindsey, age 81

Bonnie Lee Lindsey, age 81 of  Brownsville, departed this life on Friday, June  25, 2021 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.  The Edmonson County native was born on May 21, 1940 to the late Homer and Maggie Jane Johnson Lindsey. 

Bonnie  was a caregiver having cared for her parents and was a waitress at Edmonson Drugs.  She was a member of Oak Grove United Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory-- two brothers, William Jackie Lindsey (Linda) and C.D. Lindsey (Sheila) both of Brownsville; three sisters, Betty Watt of Pine Grove, Shirlene Young of Brownsville, Virginia Burns (Albert) of Georgia; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by  two brothers, Jimmie Andrew Lindsey and Harold Lindsey and two sisters, Margaret Jackson and Martha Poteet.  

Interment will be in  Johnson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Johnson Cemetery, c/o  Vernon Johnson, 109 Mohawk Rd., Brownsville, KY  42210.

Edna Mae Lancaster, age 81

Edna Mae Lancaster, age 81 of Smiths Grove, departed this life on Friday, June 25, 2021 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.  The Butler County native was born on February 16, 1940 to the late Ira V. Howard  and Lona V. Pharris Howard.  She was married to Robert Earl Lancaster, who preceded her in death.

Edna was employed by Hinton’s Cleaners and was a member of Resurrection Church of Bowling Green, KY. 
She leaves to honor her memory— one son, Robert Lancaster (Beverly) of Munfordville; two daughters, Robin Poteet (Rick) of Smiths Grove and Rhonda Stasel (David) of Bonnieville; ten grandchildren, Ricky Wells (Kristal), April Hall (Derrick) Ryan Wells, Dustin Poteet (Ashley), Dustin “DL” Lindsey, Brandon Poteet (Amy), Matt Stasel,  Shawn Stasel (Shawn), Weston Lancaster (Jennifer) and Jordayn Rennick (David);  fourteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Erma Wood, Mavis Vincent and Ruby Frank; one brother, James Howard; several nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by one brother, V.L. Howard.

Albert Riley Rich, 83

Albert Riley Rich, 83 of Smiths Grove passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday June 25, 2021 at his residence.

Albert was a son of the late Abb and Mattie Inez Rich and is preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Rich, William Rich, and Joe Rich, also two brothers-in-law, Clifford Peay and Medford Skaggs.  He was a route salesman for Sunbeam Bread Company, a member, deacon and sunday school teacher at Smiths Grove Baptist Church.  Albert was a U. S. Army Veteran, a former member of the Smiths Grove Lions Club for 42 years; past district governor; past president of the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation, and served as the Smiths Grove Representative for 14 years on the Bowling Green Warren County Planning Commission.
 
Leaving to cherish his memories is his wife of 63 years, Geneva Rich; two daughters, Debbie Joyner (Monroe) and Sandy Butler (Johnnie); one son, Mike Rich (  Pan) He was a loving  Gran to six grandchildren, Josh James (Jamie), Lucas Joyner (Liza), Kasey McCrary (Chris), Brooke Miller (Steven), Linsey Logsdon (Chris) and Mattie Rich (Chandel); 14 great grandchildren, Mackenzie Miller, Jacob Miller, Abby Logsdon, Lucy Joyner, Connor James, Lily Joyner, Nolan McCrary, Jonathan Miller, Ryser Anne Joyner, Mallorie James, Jackson Riley Logsdon, Ryne McCrary, Julia Joyner and Cole McCrary.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Smiths Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers the family request expressions of sympathy be made to Smiths Grove Baptist Church Building Fund. 

Roberta Elmore Simmons, age 84

Roberta Elmore Simmons, age 84 of Wingfield, departed this life on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at her residence.  The Edmonson County native was born on June 20, 1937 to the late,  Lennie and  Virgie Logsdon Elmore.  She was married to the late, Guy “Tootle” Simmons.

Roberta was a retired housekeeper with WKU, and was a member of Wingfield United Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory—three sons, Danny Simmons  of Sandy Hook, Bobby Joe Simmons  and Randy Simmons (Amanda) of Wingfield; two daughters, Christal Womack of Bowling Green and Brandy Simmons of  Franklin; four grandchildren, Ashley Simmons, Robert Womack, Britiany Simmons and Jessie James  and two  great-grandchildren, Josh England and Ayler England. 

Interment will be in Wingfield Church Cemetery.

Carolyn Smith Florence, 86

Carolyn Smith Florence, 86, of Louisville, KY, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a former secretary for American Builders. Her greatest title was mother and grandmother. She was a member of Beechmont Woman's Club and also Tops#KY27. She treasured the many friends she made as she worked organizing events with these groups. She was also a lifelong faithful member of Hazelwood Baptist Church. While she passionately loved her family, many Sunday dinners were spent hosting and including seminary students or grandchildren's friends treating them like they were family.

The Louisville native was the youngest child of the late Charles D. Smith and the late Margaret Lanham Smith. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend of over 66 years, John Oscar Florence as well as 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by three sons, Dr. John Florence (Vickie), Corydon, IN, Ted A. Florence (Betina), Brownsville, KY, Lee D. Florence (Tracey), Louisville, KY; six granddaughters, one grandson, fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Jean Birch; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, June 21, 2021 at Ratterman Funeral Home on 7336 Southside Dr., Louisville, KY and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Hazelwood Baptist Church, 4201 Taylor Blvd, Louisville, KY. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the church. Interment will be at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.

Memorial donations can be made to Beechmont Woman's Club Scholarship Fund.

Arthur Lloyd Raymer, 83

Arthur Lloyd Raymer, 83, of Greenwood, IN passed away Thursday June 10, 2021. Mr. Raymer was born September 13, 1937 in Huff, Kentucky to the late Cova Wayne Raymer and Eula Francis Hardin Raymer.

Lloyd attended Sunfish High School and graduated from Kailua High School in Hawaii. A proud veteran, he also served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He had been employed as an instructor with Amtrak and retired after 30 years of service. Lloyd was an avid golfer and served as a ranger at Shady Hollow Golf Course. He deeply loved his family and cherished the moments they could spend together. Lloyd was a member of the Greenwood Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Loletta Rodgers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cub Creek Cemetery; Visitation will take place 4-7 pm Monday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 19977 S. State Road 135 in Greenwood and 10 AM-2 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home.

Surviving are his loving wife, Catherine Faye Minton Raymer; his children, Arthur Samuel Raymer (Laura), Anita Faye Raymer Hopper and Michael Anthony Raymer; his grandchildren, Preston Davis Hopper, Nicholas Wayne Raymer, Tasha Marie Raymer, Hannah Katherine Gayhart and Landon Jameson Raymer; a great-grandchild, Kashton Davis Raymer, a sister, Lucille Self of Huff; and several nieces and nephews.

James Walker Bullock, age 70

James Walker Bullock, age 70, died Wednesday, June 9, 2021 in Bowling Green. He was born August 1, 1950 in Bowling Green. James was a retired Carpenter and of Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents Loyd Bullock and Helen Lindsey Bullock, son James Michael (Mike) Bullock, 3 brothers Paul Bullock, Frederick Bullock, infant Loyd Thomas, 2 sisters: Martha Meredith, Anna Marie Decker.

He leaves behind his wife of 32 years Myra Kay Nealy Bullock, a daughter Stacy Cockerel (Kevin), two sons: Chad Bullock (Teresa), Brad Bullock (Jeanne), daughter-in-law Tonia Bullock all of Bowling Green, two sisters: Rosalie Tunks of Crittenden, Mary Kinser of Louisville, one brother: Woody Bullock of Brownsville, 1 granddaughter Riley Marie, 8 grandsons Logan, Hunter, Holden, Cole, Chase, Rhett, River and 2 step grandsons Taylor and Tyler and step great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 PM Saturday, June 12, 2021 and Sunday 10:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial to follow in Luttrell Cemetery in Brownsville, KY.

Stella Richards, age 87

Stella Richards, age 87, of Cave City, departed this life on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Signature Healthcare of Hart County. The Cumberland County, KY native was born May 18, 1934 to the late Paul Young and Roxie Goodhue Young. She was married to Howard Richards, who also preceded her in death.

Stella was the owner of Stel’s Diner and a member of Fairview United Baptist Church. 

She leaves to honor her memory— son, Earl Crews (Kim) of Glasgow; daughter, Debbie Passmore of Cave City; brother, Johnny Young (Sandy) of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Scotty London, Leticia Cline, Shannon Pennycuff (Derek), Kyle Crews and four great-grandchildren. Stella was also preceded in death by one son Michael Crews; two sisters, Barbara Scott and Nina Anderson; a brother, Lee Young and a half-sister, Ruby Cannon.

Interment will be in Fairview Church Cemetery, Brownsville, KY.

Vernon Dwyer, age 94

Vernon Dwyer, age 94 of Big Reedy, departed this life on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. The Warren County native was born on September 16, 1926 to the late Dewey and Veva Willis Dwyer. He was married for seventy years to the late June E. Woosley Dwyer, who preceded him on death on December 12, 2020.

Vernon was a U.S. Army veteran, and served during World War II. He retired as a school teacher and principal at Sunfish, Edmonson County Middle School and numerous one room schools in Butler County. After his retirement, he enjoyed raising cattle and his life in the Big Reedy community. He was a member of Hunts Church of Christ and attended Big Reedy Church of Christ.

He leaves to honor his memory—one daughter, Jenny L. Porter (Doug) of Beaver Dam; two sons, Mike Dwyer (Gloria) and Andy Dwyer both of Big Reedy; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Victor Dwyer, one sister, Verena Dwyer French and one son-in-law, Doug Porter.

Interment will be in Big Reedy Church of Christ Cemetery.

​Fay Brooks Decker, age 78, of Mammoth Cave, departed this life on Friday, June 4, 2021 at her residence. The Edmonson County native was born on October 25, 1942 to the late Abraham and Sarah Elizabeth Rich Brooks.  She was married to Miner Decker, who preceded her in death. 

Fay was a former seamstress at Brownsville Manufacturing and a former employee at Josco.  She was a member of Nolin United Baptist Church.    

She leaves to honor her memory-- her son, Greg Decker (Penny) of Mammoth Cave; grandson, Corey Decker (Madeline) of Smiths Grove; sister, Janie Bell Sanders of Mammoth Cave and six brothers, Tommy Brooks (Seretta) of Mammoth Cave, Johnny Brooks (Donna) of Chalybeate, Roger Brooks (Angie) of Mammoth Cave, Jackie Brooks of Shepherdsville, Jake Brooks (Debbie) of Mammoth Cave and Dennis Ray Brooks of Mammoth Cave.  She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil “Smithy” , Judson and Jimmy Brooks.

Interment will be in Hill Grove Church Cemetery.

Paul H. Harmon, age 81

Paul H. Harmon, age 81 of Smiths Grove, departed this life on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Barren County Nursing and Rehab. The Lancaster, OH native was born on April 7, 1940 to the late Paul Edward and Martha Martin Harmon.

Paul retired from the U. S. Navy, where he served in the Vietnam era. He worked as a security guard for Pinkerton security, and was a member of Fairview General Baptist Church. 

He leaves to honor his memory— one brother, Chuck Harmon; one sister, Lottie Kennedy, along with several nephews and nieces. He is also preceded in death by one brother, John Harmon and three sisters, Sue Vaughn, Shirley Duncan and Hazel Crump.

Interment will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY  with military honors.
