Carol Tandy Groaning

Carol Tandy Groaning, 73, of Louisville passed away at 6:50 PM July 28, 2015 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville.
 
The Jefferson County native was a homemaker. She was a daughter of the late Carl E. Tandy and Opal Fern Sink Tandy and the wife of the late Billy Jack Groaning. She was preceded in death by a son, John Boyd and a companion, William W. "Wally" Childers.
 
Surviving are a son, Gary Boyd of LaGrange; two daughters, Kimberly Neff of Pekin, IN and Diane Davis of Louisville; two brothers, John Tandy of Salem, IN and Donald Tandy of Louisville; a sister, Faye Devers of Louisville; seven grandchildren, Allen Boyd, Mark Boyd, Lana Sanning, Levi Davis, Ryan Neff, Johnna Adcock and Bonnie Looney; and three great grandchildren, Abigail Boyd, Makenzie Boyd and Fionah Wilson.

Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brownsville Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Saturday and after 9 AM Sunday.

Thelma “Sis” Denham, 70, of Brownsville, KY, passed away at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY on Wednesday, July  29, 2015. The Edmonson County native was born on December 14, 1944 to the late Clem and Loretta Hawks Elmore. She was married to Clifford Denham who survives.

She was a loyal housewife and a member Wingfield United Baptist Church.

 Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Mike Denham of Brownsville, KY, and Willie Denham (Anette) of Leitchfield, KY; one brother H.B. Elmore (Clara Jean) of Shepherdsville, KY; four grandchildren, Noah Denham, Emily Denham, Ava Hayes, Carlee Denham.

L.P. Graham

L.P. Graham loved adventure and spending time with his family. This was proven true when both a grand and great granddaughter were on an adventure with him Saturday, July 25, 2015 when a massive heart attack claimed his life at the age of 85. He was exactly where he would have wanted to be and we are thankful he did not suffer.

The Warren County native and life long resident of Edmonson County was the son of the late Herschel and Annie Logan Graham. He was preceeded in death by his wife, of 65 years, Lucille Glass Graham, a son Lonnie W. Graham, a grand-daughter Heather Renee Graham, and his sister Dorothy Logan. He was a member at the Shadyland Church of Christ. He was an amazing husband, father, papaw, brother, neighbor and friend. He will surely be missed.

Survivors include a large family built on faith and love consisting of a son Harold Wayne Graham and wife Becky; three daughters, Dora Ann Cowles and husband William; Connie Jo Colson and husband Marc, Eva Lou Meredith; a daughter-in-law, Eva Shannon Graham; ten grandchildren, Maria Leach (Jeff), Stacie Decker (Bill), DeWayne Cowles, Sheri Ann Jones, Jason Colson (June), Eric Colson (Emily), Stephanie Woodcock (Ronnie), Samantha Kiernan (John), Tabatha Southard (Denny), John C Meredith (Ashley); 22 great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral service 12 noon Wednesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Kinser Cemetery. Visitation 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Shannon Beckham, 38 of Smiths Grove died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at his residence.

The Warren County native was a technician for Gary Force Honda and attended Glendale Baptist Church.  He is preceded in death by a son Tyler Beckham.

His survivors include his parents Roger and Connie Fox Beckham; four children, Shannon Lee Beckham, Jr., Tapanga Beckham, Ashley Dawn Beckham, Alexis Beckham; his wife and mother of his children, Charity Davis Beckham; one sister, Melissa McDougal (Robert) and one brother, Kelly Beckham (Renee), several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and special friend, Gwen Campbell

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation 3:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Dr. Jesse H. Meredith, 86, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away at his residence on

Wednesday, July  22, 2015. The Metcalfe County native was born on July 16, 1929 to the late John and Berchie Crews Meredith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Nell Meredith

He was a Church of the Nazarene Pastor, and practiced family medicine in Kentucky and Indiana. He was also a member of Crossland Community Church.

He is survived by two sons, J. Richard Meredith (Debbie) and J. Douglas Meredith (Peggy) both of Bowling Green, KY; two daughters, Charlotte Self (Edwin) of Broadway, NC and

Dr. Sharon Smith (Dan) of Clarksville, TN; nine grandchildren Heather Smith, Nathan Smith (Karyn), Ryan Meredith (Jenni), Ceann Meredith, Meredith Miller (Shawn), Matthew Self (Lisa), Ashley Mead (Rick), Courtney Puryeas (Thomas), Brittany Meredith; fourteen great grandchildren; special caregivers Malcolm and Vonitta Brumit and a special friend Betty Pearson.

The Edmonson County native was a skidder operator. He was a son of the late James Carl Lindsey and Agaline Cook Hardin. He was preceded in death by a sister, Penny Mercer.
 
Funeral will be at 11 AM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Slate Bank Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Monday, 9 AM-9 PM Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday.
 
Surviving are his father, Eugene Hardin of Brownsville; two sons, B.J. James E. Elmore, 87, of Smiths Grove, KY, departed this life on Friday, July 17, 2015 at his residence.  The Edmonson County native was born on May 23, 1928  to the late George Marion and Valerie Self Elmore and was married to the late Louise Hogan Elmore and Dottie Vincent Elmore, who survives.

He was a maintenance machinist for Phillip Morris Tobacco Co. and  a member of Poplar Spring United Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory— three daughters, Lyndia Beckenbach of Lake City, FL, Brenda James of Brownsville, KY, Deloris Tolle of Chalybeate, KY; one step daughter, Belinda Lindsey (Bill Bob) of Lindseyville, KY; two step sons: John K. Vincent, Jr. (Carolyn) of Bowling Green, KY and Jeffrey G. Vincent (Stephanie) of Huntingdon, TN; two brothers, Michael Elmore (Hilda) of Clarksville, IN and Riley Elmore of Louisville, KY; one sister, Alice Williams of Taylor, MI; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by one grandson, Brian Beckenbach and three sisters, Louise Williams, Nelsie Whobrey and Evelyn Vincent.

Interment will be in Hogan Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Vincent and  Bro. Jason Webb  officiating the services.

Charles E. Madison, 75, of  Brownsville, KY, passed away at his residence on  Monday, July  13, 2015. The Edmonson County native was born on  January 5, 1940 to the late Everette and  Lucille Vincent Madison. He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-one years, Janet Jaggers Madison on November 3, 1994.

Charles was retired from the Edmonson County Water District and he worked at Phillip Morris Tobacco Co. in Louisville, KY, and was a member of Ollie United Baptist Church .

He is survived by his wife of 20 years Ruby Jaggers Madison of Brownsville, KY; one son, Michael Lee Madison and his wife Kimberly of Brownsville, KY; one daughter, Donna Marie Moore of Brownsville, KY; one step daughter, Linda Sue Guess of Brownsville, KY; six grandchildren, Jacob, Janna and Josie Madison, Madison Shea and Mason Moore and Andrea Guess.  Also surviving are three sisters, Gertie Minyard of Bee Spring, KY, Martha York and her husband Paul of Brownsville, KY and Sherry Madison of Bowling Green, KY; four brothers, Gerald Madison and his wife Alice of Lizella, GA, Raymond Madison and his wife Nancy of Louisville, KY, John Madison and his wife Carla of Brownsville, KY, and Anthony Madison and his wife Pam of Brownsville, KY.  He is also survived by his furry little buddy,  Elvis Aaron Madison. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Rev. Elzie Madison, David K. Madison, and Joel K. Madison, a brother in law, Ed Minyard and a nephew Danny Minyard.

She was a housewife and a member of Cedar Springs United Baptist Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Felix Jessie (Jannie) of Temple Hill, KY, Sammy Jessie, Jr. of Holly Springs, GA and Alan Jessie (Sherri) of Milton, GA; one daughter, Hope Cassady (Billy) of Park City; one brother, Wade Pitcock (Pru) of Calhoun, GA; two sisters, Linda Inez Dankhoff and Faye Baumgardner both of Ft. Walton, FL; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and George  Pitcock., Jr.

The Edmonson County native was a homemaker, a BG Daily News deliverer and a member of Poplar Springs United Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late James E. Vincent and Addie Herald Vincent. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Vincent and Dewey Vincent.
 
Funeral will be at 1:00 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Duvall Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 PM Friday and after 9 AM Saturday.

She was a housewife, a member of Pine Grove United Baptist Church and attended Plano Community Chapel.

She is also survived by one daughter, Phyllis Graham Richmond (Ernest) of Portland, TN; four grandchildren, Loren Richmond, Bryan Richmond, Jay Norris (Shelly) and Jason Richmond; eight great grandchildren, Nathan Hayes, Jessie Burchett (Luke), Trevor Norris, Ashley Lynn Norris, Tommy Norris, Tyler Richmond, Benjamin Richmond and Alli Richmond and six step great grandchildren. She was a retired department manager for K Mart in Glasgow. Judy was a member of Rocky Hill Eastern Star and Fairview Baptist Church.

She is also survived by two sons, Dewayne Johnson (Alicia) of Williamstown, KY and Nicholas Johnson (Megan) of Springboro, OH; one daughter, Cherie Howard (Roy) of Glasgow, KY; one brother, Jerry Johnson (Pat) of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Dylan Howard, Ariana Johnson, Dymie Howard, Ashton Johnson and Aiden Johnson; one step brother, Gary Marr (Marlene) and four step sisters, Shirley Kay Yates (Dave), Janet Brandenburg (Bob), Carolyn Showalter (Larry) and Mary Geier. Jeanne Elmore Willhite, 69, of Bee Spring, KY, departed this life on July 4, 2015 at her residence.  The Edmonson County native was born on  April 25, 1946 to the late Parker and Crystal I. Johnson Elmore and was married to the late Clifford William Wright.

She was the manager of the Olde Library Shoppe Charity and volunteered endless hours in helping others.  Jeanne was a member of Eastern Star and Poplar Springs United Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory— one son, Raymond Parker Willhite of Brownsville, KY; two grandsons, Justin Parker Willhite (Sulette) of Atlanta, GA and Jacob Thomas Willhite of Brownsville, KY; one brother, Jack Elmore (Nada) of Chalybeate, KY; one sister, Kaye Elmore Jupin (Barry) of Chalybeate, KY; two nephews, Joe Elmore and Barry Jupin (Tamara); two nieces, Crystal Elmore Wolfe (David) and Mikela Jupin Doerr (Patrick) and four great nieces, Meredith Elmore, Peyton Wolfe, Paige Wolfe, and Mae Doerr.  She was also preceded in death by a brother, David Mike Elmore.

Nellie Wilson,  78, of  Wingfield, KY, departed this life on Friday, July 3, 2015, at Edmonson Health Care in Brownsville. The Monroe County native was born on  July 7, 1936 to the late Diver Clarence and Florence Mae Creek and was married to the late Rev. Monroe Wilson.

She was a secretary for Sanders Radiator and was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  

She is survived by one son,  Steve Wilson (Judy) of Wingfield, KY; four daughters, Debbie Johnson of Scottsville, Redea Simmons (Roy “Noots”) of Wingfield, KY, Joy Miller (Tommy) of Bowling Green, KY and Kim Sanders (Kerry) of Lincoln, KY; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and three great—great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Joe Meredith  officiating.

 Jimmie R. Houchins

After a brief illness with cancer, Jimmie R. Houchins, age 83, departed this life on Thursday, July 2, 2015.  The Edmonson County native was born on October 17, 1931 to the late Virgil M. and Gertie Kinser Houchins.  On December 20, 1953, he married his loving and devoted wife, Nellie M. Cherry Houchins, who survives. 

Jimmie was a farmer, which afforded him time to meditate, pray and keep his mind upon the Lord.  He was the oldest, active Charter Member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church, and was a faithful servant to his church and community.  He served as church clerk for 26 years, was an ordained deacon and trustee for many  years.

He was a true, Christian neighbor and friend.  Jimmie delighted himself in helping others  with his genuine, humble spirit.  

Besides his wife Nellie, he leaves to honor his memory-- three daughters, Cherry Miller of Plum Springs, KY, Robin Tomes (Clifton) of Bowling Green and Charlotte Rappuhn (Jeff ) of  Nashville, TN;  two sisters, Martha Schultz (Bill) of Louisville, KY and Mary Alice Vincent (Johnny Pete) of Brownsville, KY; five grandchildren, Jonathan Tomes (Ashlee), Carly Miller, Dylan Miller, Lucas Rappuhn and Jonah Rappuhn and two great grandchildren, Jaggar and Jack Tomes.  He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, London Tomes; three brothers, Earl “Hambone” , Tommy and Joe Houchins and three sisters, Virgie Booker, June Priddy and Ella Perna.
