Carol Tandy Groaning, 73, of Louisville passed away at 6:50 PM July 28, 2015 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville.
The Jefferson County native was a homemaker. She was a daughter of the late Carl E. Tandy and Opal Fern Sink Tandy and the wife of the late Billy Jack Groaning. She was preceded in death by a son, John Boyd and a companion, William W. "Wally" Childers. Surviving are a son, Gary Boyd of LaGrange; two daughters, Kimberly Neff of Pekin, IN and Diane Davis of Louisville; two brothers, John Tandy of Salem, IN and Donald Tandy of Louisville; a sister, Faye Devers of Louisville; seven grandchildren, Allen Boyd, Mark Boyd, Lana Sanning, Levi Davis, Ryan Neff, Johnna Adcock and Bonnie Looney; and three great grandchildren, Abigail Boyd, Makenzie Boyd and Fionah Wilson. The Warren County native and life long resident of Edmonson County was the son of the late Herschel and Annie Logan Graham. He was preceeded in death by his wife, of 65 years, Lucille Glass Graham, a son Lonnie W. Graham, a grand-daughter Heather Renee Graham, and his sister Dorothy Logan. He was a member at the Shadyland Church of Christ. He was an amazing husband, father, papaw, brother, neighbor and friend. He will surely be missed. Houchins, age 83, departed this life on Thursday, July 2, 2015. The Edmonson County native was born on October 17, 1931 to the late Virgil M. and Gertie Kinser Houchins. On December 20, 1953, he married his loving and devoted wife, Nellie M. Cherry Houchins, who survives. Jimmie was a farmer, which afforded him time to meditate, pray and keep his mind upon the Lord. He was the oldest, active Charter Member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church, and was a faithful servant to his church and community. He served as church clerk for 26 years, was an ordained deacon and trustee for many years. He was a true, Christian neighbor and friend. Jimmie delighted himself in helping others with his genuine, humble spirit.
