​Sammie Renfro, age 74 of Chalybeate, KY departed this life on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN.  The Edmonson County native was born on April 16, 1944 to the late Herbert “Hub”  Renfro and Maude Campbell Renfro.  He was married to Sue Carroll Renfro, who survives. 

Sammie retired from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife as a conservation officer.  He was  a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church .

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory-- one daughter, Kim Renfro of Bee Spring; three grandchildren, Brandon Hogan (Ashlie) of Bee Spring, Whitney Moon (Joey) of Brownsville and Daniel Pereira of Bee Spring; five great grandchildren, Adrianna Harp, Austin Hogan, Rayleigh Moon, Madelyn Hogan and Braxton Moon; one brother, Bob Renfro of Louisville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Interment will be in Hawkins Cemetery with graveside service by Kentucky Fish & Wildlife  Honor Guard.

​Frank Wade Love, 61, of Glasgow passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 at his home. He was born on May 31, 1957 in Warren County to the late James Love, Sr. and Martha Love of Hadley. He was married to Phyllis Love, who survives.

He was a member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, and was a truck driver.

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory-- one son, Matthew Love of Glasgow;  two daughters, Christina Shaw (Jonathan) of Glasgow and Laura Sexton (Jacob Gibson) of Summer Shade; nine grandchildren, Jared Love, Shelby Love, Isaiah Love, Seth Love, Hunter Sexton, Dylan Shaw, Alyssa Shaw, Colby Love, Ansley Gibson; two brothers, Jimmy Love and Tim Love; one sister, Jeannie Davis and his mother-in-law, Rita Burgin.  Frank was also preceded in death by two sons, Robbie and Josh Love, and his father-in-law, Harley Albritton.

​Wanda Hardin, 96, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on July 23, 2018.

The Edmonson County native was born on May 6, 1922 to the late Gurmon Meredith and Nora Meredith Poole. She was the wife of the late Eldon Myro Minton and the late Marion Alfred Hardin. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gurmon "Terry" Minton and David Harold Minton; and a sister, Wilodean "Dean" Vincent.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243), with a funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.

There will also be a short service at 4:30 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Dit Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:30 PM Saturday.

​Dixie Short Dennison, age 90, of Cave City, KY, departed this life on Sunday, July 22, 2018 in Woodburn, KY. The Hart County native was born on June 19, 1928 to the late Floyd and Alma Clark Short. She was married to the late Kenneth L. Dennison.

Dixie was a housewife and a former member of Park City Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory— one son, Joe Dennison (Christie); one daughter Trish Zwakenberg both of Bowling Green; thirteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son, Richard Dennison, and one daughter, Kathy Powell.

​Doug Browning, age 76 of Brownsville, KY departed this life on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN.  The Edmonson County native was born on March 21, 1942 to the late Dewey and Pauline Skaggs Browning.  He was married to Flora Ann Davis Browning, who preceded him in death. 

Doug was a carpenter, and a trustee and member of Midway United Missionary Baptist Church. 

He leaves to honor his memory-- one daughter, Lisa Browning of Bowling Green; one grandson, Seth Decker (Kara) of Chalybeate; a special man that he loved like a son, Vernon Decker of Bee Spring; two brothers, Frank Browning (Florence) of Lindseyville and Anthony Browning (Wilma) of Bee Spring and two sisters, Delta Ray of Shepherdsville and Brenda Ray (Clifford) of Chalybeate. Wasilla, Alaska resident, Ronald Francis York "Punchy" Magers, 74, formerly of Brownsville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.

Ronald was born on November 30, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from Oldham County High School in 1961 and started working for Western Electric shortly thereafter. Ronald went on to serve in both the United States Army and Kentucky National Guard.  He retired after 27 years with Western and let his sugar mama drag him across the country to wherever she transferred with the Federal Government. He loved racing, dreaming big, and lake days. He was a stinker but we loved him.

He is proceeded in death by his father, Noah Francis York; mother, Dorothy Louise Magers; stepfather, Willie Moss Magers and son, Joey.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandi, and children Tony, Pam, Erin, Ronnie, Dale, Billy and Janet along with 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

​Lola Lorene Whittle Renfro, age 95 of Brownsville, KY departed this life on Monday, July 16, 2018.  The Edmonson County native was born on May 19, 1923 to the late James Clarence Whittle and Daisy Moody Whittle.  She was married to Cecil E. Renfro, who preceded her in death.

Lorene was a homemaker, a loving mother, and grandmother.  She was a member of Chalybeate Homemakers and Beaver Dam United Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory three sons, Leland Renfro of Chalybeate, Bro. Eldridge Renfro (Sharon) of Chalybeate and Bro. Ronald Renfro of Brownsville; one daughter, Sandra Stice (David) of Chalybeate; twelve grandchildren, Annette Huggins (Ted), Kathy Renfro, Brad Renfro (Robin), Lesley Spainhoward (Eric), Aimee Carey (Brian), Brandie Lindsey (David), Aaron Renfro (Missy), Blake Renfro, Shaun Stice (Carol), Ryan Stice (Natalie), Jonathan Stice (Elizabeth) and Bretta Stice; eighteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. ​Christine Thea Wilkins, 63, of Cave City, KY, departed this life on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at her residence. The Detroit, MI native was born on February 19, 1955 to the late Leonard William Wilkins and the late Beatrice Monroe Wilkins. She was married to Roger Oliver of Columbia, TN, who survives.

Christine was a private contractor, genealogist, gardener and book lover. She was recognized for her civic work many times while working for the Neighbor Housing Services in Menlo Park, CA and as a member of Menlo Park Planning Commission before moving to Kentucky to care for her Grandmother, Mossie Monroe.

Besides her husband she leaves to honor her memory— four daughters, Beatrice Larson Hatcher (Luke) of California, Alethea Larson (Joe Hook) of Arizona, Teresa Kuhlman (Hank) of Oklahoma and Elizabeth Rathman (Julie) of Minnesota; one brother, William P. Wilkins of New Jersey and five grandchildren.

Iva Ellen (Ila) Hudson Pickerill Raymer, age 85, of Louisville, KY passed from this life on Sunday, July 15, 2018 in Louisville. The Edmonson County native was born on January 20, 1933 to the late Arthur Hudson and the late Edna Harrison Hudson. 

Iva was known for her sales ability, her feistiness, her wonderful cooking, her love of antiques and yard sales. She was a member of Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church and River City Corvette Club.

Iva leaves to cherish her memory, Ricky Pickerill (Donna), Matt Pickerill (Megan), Jamie Pickerill (Cordia), Ricky Theo Pickerill, Cindy Hudson McCombs (Dwight), Scott Woodcock (Taylor), Landis Carden (Mike) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She loved her family dearly.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Grady Hudson.

Arnold D. was a farmer, former magistrate and  former Chairman of the Board for the Wingfield Volunteer Fire Department.  He was also a deacon and member of Pine Grove United Baptist Church. 

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory– one daughter, Donna Long (David) of Pine Grove; one son, Robbie Graham (Connie) of Pine Grove; four grandchildren, Katrina Turner (Tyler), J.R. Lavana Minyard Duff, 86 of New Grove, KY departed this life on Monday, July 9, 2018 in Bowling Green, KY. The Barren County native was born on August 16, 1931 to the late Hurl and Pearl Stice Minyard. 

Lavana was a seamstress for Brownsville Manufacturing, Bandy Bedding and also worked at Edmonson County High School as a library aide where she was affectionately known as “Ms. Mamaw”. She was also a member of  New Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

​She is survived by one daughter, Katherine Gipson (Albert) of Sweeden; three grandsons, Jason Decker (Jennifer) of Brownsville, Mark Decker (Mary) of Glasgow and Scott Decker (Sarah) of Pig; ten great grandchildren; three brothers, Nelson Minyard of New Grove, Kenneth Minyard (Kathy) of Rhoda and Johnny Minyard (Loretta) of New Grove; three sisters, Mary Jane Anderson of Smiths Grove, Katrina Sue Neighbors of Oakland and Diane Tarter (Ervin) of Pig.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Charles Minyard and one sister, Norma Jean Minyard.

Herbert H. Bailey, age 88 of Clarkson, KY departed this life on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at his residence. The Oppy, KY native was born on June 2, 1930 to the late Roscoe Bailey and Minnie Crabtree Bailey, and was married to the late Patsy Madison Bailey.

​Herbert was a factory worker for General Electric, a member of the Masonic Lodge for sixty years and was a member of Blue Lick United Baptist Church.
