Oscar Junior "June" Denham, 85, of Brownsville passed away at 5:59 PM Thursday July 30, 2020 at his home.
The Edmonson County native was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a son of the late Oscar Denham and Lula Johnson Denham and the husband of the late Joyce Denham. Goldie E. Duvall Houchin, age 83 of Brownsville, KY departed this life on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in Brownsville. She was born in Edmonson County on November 14, 1936 to the late Charlie Jett and Nola Meredith Duvall, and was married to the late Joe Spainhoward and Leland Wayne Houchin.
Goldie enjoyed caring for others as a home health aid and private nurse for many years. That love and compassion was returned to her many times over by the staff at Edmonson Care Nursing Home, where she resided the last ten years of her life. Goldie was saved as a young girl in February of 1949 and she enjoyed visiting many churches throughout Edmonson County, during her life. She was a member of Midway United Missionary Baptist Church. She leaves to honor her memory one son, Neal K. Lindsey (Gwen) of Bee Spring; one granddaughter, Lindsey N. Emslie (Cris); two great granddaughters; one brother, Trent Duvall (Lita) and one sister, Nellie Mings (Junie). She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia M. Parker; one son, Bobby Joe Spainhoward; one grandson, Ernest Matthew Davis; two brothers, Charles H. and Leon Duvall and a son-in-law, Ernest Davis. The Edmonson County native was a maintenance supervisor and foreman retired from SKF. He was a son of the late James Shirley Keown and Corene Elizabeth Howard Keown and the husband of the late Julia Annette Brooks Keown. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sherman Keown and Freddie Keown; and a sister, Sharon Cole. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Oneta was a former assistant for Dr. S.E. Farmer; worked at J.C. Penney and was a seamstress for many family and friends over the years. She was a saved as a young girl at New Salem Baptist Church, and was a faithful member of Midway United Missionary Baptist Church, where she had a beautiful alto voice, and enjoyed singing in the choir. Michael retired as an automobile dealership body shop and service department manager. He was a member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church, and a fifty year member of Washington Meredith Masonic Lodge #355 F&AM. He had a dual membership at Bowling Green Lodge #73. He was also a member of Shriner International of the York Rite Order of Masonic Lodge Chapter and Council. Michael loved southern gospel music and sang bass with his brother, Clayton, cousin, Hoyt Webb, Jr. and very close friend, Jerry Patton, in the Midway Quartet, which later became the Commanders Quartet. He also sang with the Southern Harmony Quartet and Southern Harmonaires. Besides his wife, he also leaves to honor his memory-- two children, Anita Michele Lindsey of Morgantown and Andrew Michael Lindsey and his wife, Kristin Strode Lindsey of Bowling Green; five grandchildren, Emma Kate, Macy Lane, Abby Drew, Jack Michael and Beau Napier Thomas Lindsey; sister, Carolyn Marie Lindsey Brown; sisters-in-law, Carla Gail Skaggs Foster and Dorothy Skaggs Lindsey; several nieces, nephews and close friends. He was born on May 18, 1953, in Edmonson Co, KY, the son of the late Curtis and Helen Poteet Brooks. He was a construction worker, who loved nature and was a good caretaker. He is survived by a daughter, Pamela A. Brooks of Louisville, KY, one sister, Agnes L Brooks of Leitchfield, his wife, Regina Brooks of Leitchfield, two step-children, Danny and Tanya McCarty, three step grandchildren and one grand-dog, Dottie. The Warren County native was retired from the Kentucky State Police, a former Warren County Deputy Sheriff and currently employed for the Simpson County Sheriff. He was of the Baptist faith. Russell enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved going to church and playing corn-hole. The Edmonson County native was born on June 28, 1926, to the late James Willie Cassady and Ellie Campbell Cassady. She was married to Trenton Elmer Madison, who preceded her in death.
Ella was an assembly line worker at Cutler Hammer. She was a member of Beaver Dam United Baptist Church. She leaves to honor her memory-- two sons, Ron Madison (Donna) and Trent Madison (Robynn), both of Brownsville; three grandchildren, Dana Burnam (Ryan) of Bowling Green, Travis Madison (Jessica) of Brownsville and Katie Brown (Jesse) of Flowood, MS; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Cassady and one sister, Eva Huffman. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Bennie Cassady and two sisters, Mary Strudivant and Maggie Cowles. Interment will be in Beaver Dam Church Cemetery. She was born on August 15, 1961 in Warren County to the late Briggs Murray and Alma Jo Murray. She was married to Sammie Glass, who survives.
Marie was a housewife, momma and mamaw. She attended Harvest Time Apostolic Church. Besides her husband, she leaves to honor her memory-- two sons, Davy Glass of Bowling Green and Donovan Glass (Coti) of Roundhill; two daughters, Amy Casey (Brian) of Clarkson and Amanda Glass of Rocky Hill; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Murray (Tina) and Johnny Murray (Debbie) and two sisters, Patty Wilson and Lisa Martin (Jr.). The Hart County native was a retired construction worker. He was a son of the late Chasteen Bratcher and Dorothy Wood Bratcher. he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilford Bratcher; and three sisters, Estel Morgan, Carlene Carter and Roberta Claire. Funeral services will be private. Public visitation will be held from 2-5 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Cove Hollow Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Clorine Newton Bratcher; three brothers, Lawrence Bratcher (Madge) of Mammoth Cave, Oddis Bratcher (Dianne) of Cub Run and Jerry Bratcher (Rachel) of Smiths Grove; a sister, Geneva Cain of Brooks; and several nieces and nephews. Ronald “Ronnie” Wood, age 63, of Pig, KY passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020 in Bowling Green, KY. He was born on November 5, 1956 in Edmonson County to the late Larry Oneal Wood and Grace Vincent Wood, who survives. He was married to Kimberly Wood, who also survives.
Ronnie was a retired electrical maintenance engineer for BANDO, and was a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church. Besides his mother and wife, he leaves to honor his memory-- one son, Jonathan Wood (Carla); one daughter, Heather House (Nathan); four grandchildren, Halleigh House, Kameron House, Violet Wood and Lillian Wood and one sister, Donna Rich (Tim). He was also preceded in death by one sister, Debra K. Minton. Interment will be in Bee Spring Church Cemetery.
