Robert Jesse "Bobby" Shufelt Jr., 74 of Bowling Green passed away Wednesday Aug. 25, 2021 at Greenview Regional Hospital.
The Edmonson County native was a 1966 graduate of ECHS, a riverboat tankerman, a US Air Force veteran and a member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Robert Jesse Shufelt Sr. and Sydna Faye Johnson Shufelt. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jonathon Mark Ashley. Funeral services will be private. The Edmonson County native was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion United Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Blaine Johnson and Lucy Vincent Johnson and the wife of the late Elmer G. Hogan. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard G. “Ricky” Hogan; a grandson, Michael Campbell; and eight siblings. Bertie was a homemaker and worked with her hands to care for the needs of her family. She sewed their little dresses, raised a garden and canned vegetables to keep them fed. Most importantly, she raised them in church at Oak Grove United Baptist Church, where remained a member until her passing. Norah Rea was a homemaker and a farmer for much of her life. In her later years, she was employed as a cook at Park Mammoth Resort and Linda’s Restaurant. She also worked at the Edmonson County Public Library and was a Foster Grandparent at Kyrock Elementary School. Norah was saved on November 17, 1960 as she read the Bible sitting in her rocking chair. She was baptized and joined Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church. On February 18, 1967 she joined Jock United Baptist Church by credit of letter, where she remained a faithful member until death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Davis; father, Eugene E. Lindsey; mother, Georgia Davis Lindsey and two sisters, Hazel Lindsey Wood, and Elizabeth Crain Lindsey Madison. Frances was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and held Bachelors, Masters and Rank I degrees. She began her teaching career in Edmonson County, taught in Warren County Schools and retired from Bowling Green City Schools with 40 years of service. She loved her years of teaching and counseling. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Known for her collection of dolls and beautiful garden flowers, she loved to share both with everyone. Her collection of dolls is displayed in her own "Doll Cottage". She was a member of the Bowling Green Seventh-Day Adventist Church for 47 years; a member of Leitchfield Seventh-Day Adventist Church for five years, and a member of Sandhill Seventh-Day Adventist Church. During these years, she gave much help to the Kentucky/Tennessee Conference. She served on the Educational Committee, visited the schools, and helped with evaluation and programs. She also served on the finance committee, seven years on the Executive Committee and other committees through the years. She and Buford loved to travel. They traveled through all 48 states, Mexico, Canada, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Frances leaves to everyone her appreciation for every kindness shown to her and Buford through the years—loving words, smiles and kindnesses too numerous to be recorded. She leaves this world looking forward to greeting you with a joyful hug—never to leave you again. Vincent, age 90 of Coxs Creek, departed this life on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Norton Healthcare in Louisville, KY. The Edmonson County native was born on February 6, 1931 to the late Blaine and Dowe James Vincent. He was married to Ellen Kay Vincent, who also preceded him in death.
Truman retired from Ford Motor Company as a production line employee. He was a member of Zion United Baptist Church. He leaves to honor his memory— his children, Paula Gravile (Earl) of Bardstown and Keith Vincent (Dale) of Louisville; seven grandchildren, Jason Coley (Patti), Daniel Vincent (Paula), Ronnie Vincent (Ashley), Tiffany Gravile, Kimberly Watts (Michael), Josh Walker (Ellen) and Valerie Fish; eleven great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Joseph Dillon and Carroll Kay, his sister, Willodean Meredith. Interment will be in Bee Spring Cemetery. Carroll, 64, of Bee Spring passed away Saturday July 31, 2021 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
The Edmonson County native was a 1976 graduate of ECHS and a forklift operator. He was a son of the late Otis M. Carroll and Bernice Jaggers Carroll of Bee Spring, who survives. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Pleasant View United Baptist Church, where he was a member, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday and 9 AM-7 PM Tuesday at Gravil Funeral Home and after 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church. Also surviving are his wife, Rebecca East Carroll; two sons, Colby Carroll (Tiffany) of Smiths Grove and Kyle Carroll (Rachel) of Bee Spring; a brother, Keith Carroll (Kathy) of Bee Spring; a sister, Marsha Thomason of Bowling Green; two grandchildren, Olivia Carroll and Elias Carroll; and several nieces and nephews. |
