Irene D. Kidwell, 84, of Georgetown, IN passed away at 4:18 PM Sept. 27, 2014 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN.

The Edmonson County native was a retired cook and a member of Hill Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Herald Carroll and Nora Sanders Carroll and the wife of the late Percy Kidwell.

Funeral will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial in Hill Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-9 PM Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen French (Sonny) of Georgetown, IN; two sons, Larry Kidwell of New Albany and Jerry Kidwell of Georgetown; two sisters, Mary Penner of Louisville and Shirley James (Roger) of Brownsville; two brothers, Jimmy Carroll of Scottsville and Billy Carroll (Maurita) of Smiths Grove; six grandchildren, Brandon French, Robby French, Hannah Kidwell, Kristin Kidwell, Robin Berry and Holly Lockhart; and seven great grandchildren.

Billie C. Martin, age 71 of  Park City KY, departed this life on Friday, September 19, 2014 in South Baldwin Region, Foley, AL.  The Edmonson County native was born on October 4, 1942 to the late William David and Wyona Childress Martin and was the husband of Faye Welch Martin of Park City, KY.  He was a retired parts manager for Tri-State International,  a member of McLure Masonic Lodge # 539 F & AM and Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

He is also survived by one son, Billy Joe Martin (Michele) of Park City, KY; one step son, Michael Cary (Veronica) of Bowling  Green, KY; one step daughter, Glenda Hogue (Tommy) of Clinton, TN; one brother, Jimmie C. Martin (Patricia) of Elberta, AL; three grandchildren, Lacey Jo Martin, Jordan Chapman and Matthew Martin; five step grandchildren, Jeremy Hogue, Joshua Hogue, Jessica Hogue, Shade Cary and Lola Cary and three step great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one niece, Lisa Marie Martin.

Masonic Service will be 7 pm, Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel.   Burial will be in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Bill Brumit officiating the services.

Bernice Tarter Ray, 97 of Brownsville, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in Bowling Green. She was a homemaker and member of Beaver Dam Chapel United Baptist Church.

The Edmonson County native was born July 7, 1917 to the late Sam Tarter and the late Mirtie Keith Tarter. She was the devoted wife of the late Willard Ray.

She is survived by a son, Lenard Ray and his wife Linda of Brownsville; a daughter, Grace Hogan and her husband Jerry of Brownsville; one son-in-law, Robert Davis of Brownsville, KY; two brothers, Harvey Tarter and Leon Tarter both of Smiths Grove; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Turley and her husband Clayton of Chalybeate, Eugene Ray and his wife, Myra of Smiths Grove, Travis Davis and his wife Rhonda of Chalybeate, Anthony Davis and his wife Teresa of Brownsville, Leanne Richards and her husband Bryan of Brownsville and Jamie Edwards and her husband Jerry of Chalybeate; ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Davis; a great-granddaughter, Karli Sha Davis; one brother, Wilbur Tarter and a sister, Allene Compton. 

Burial will be in Kinslow Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Patton and Bro. Steve Gipson officiating the services.

Wanda Alexander Minton, 88 of Brownsville, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 in Bowling Green, KY.  She was a retired secretary and bookkeeper for the Edmonson County Board of Education and a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. The Edmonson County native was born March 17, 1926 to the late Chester Arthur Alexander and Vuna Lindsey Alexander. She was the devoted wife of the late James Cecil Minton.

She is survived by a son, Bro. Richard Minton and his wife Juanita of Chalybeate; two daughters, Cecilia Steen and her husband Bob and Mary Alice Cole and her husband Joe both of Brownsville; four grandchildren, Teresa McClintic and her husband Mike, Angela Dennison and her husband Darren, Chad Minton and his wife Kandi and Scott Cole and his wife Leslie; two step grandchildren, Lauren Steen and LeaTriece Pozce; seven great-grandchildren, Jena and Jonah Brooks, Logan and Lilli Minton, Breanna and Karina Dennison and Carson Cole; one niece, Dorothy Yokley and her husband Wendell and one nephew, James E. Reed.  

Interment will be in the Alexander Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Patton and Bro. Jason Alexander officiating the services.

Kyle Edward Meredith, 35, of Bee Spring, KY,  departed this life on Sunday, September 21, 2014 in Bowling Green, KY. The Edmonson County native was born June 5, 1979 to the late Wayne Meredith and Carolyn Garner Meredith of Sweeden, KY, who survives.  He was a former EMT with Edmonson and Barren Co. and a member of Kyrock VFD and Kyrock United Baptist Church.  

He is also survived by his wife, Gail Woodcock Meredith of Bee Spring, KY; mother, Carolyn Meredith of Sweeden, KY; two sisters, Delena Smith (Todd Hale) of Tompkinsville, KY and Lynn Durbin (Eric) of Bee Spring, KY; one brother, Janssen Meredith of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two nieces, Selena Smith and Erica Moore (J.D.); two great nephews, Garrett Smith and Conner Smith; expected great niece, Kiyalyne Elaine Moore; two aunts, Rita Meredith (James) and Charlotte Ray (Luther); several cousins and a host of friends.

Services will be officiated by Bro. Robert Carter and Bro. Johnny Elmore with burial in the Kyrock Cemetery.

Swanson C. "Jimmy" Jennings, 66, of Sunfish passed away at 3:54 PM Sept. 20, 2014 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
     The Halifax, VA native was a carpenter, a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of Chapter 32 Disabled American Veterans, a member of Post 6937 Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of Knights of Columbus #6743 in Peonia. He was a son of the late Charlie Jennings and Nellie Jennings.
 
     Funeral will be at 11:30 AM Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he was a member, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 PM Monday and 9-11 AM Tuesday at Gravil Funeral Home.
 
     Surviving are his wife, Betty Hayes Jennings; two daughters, Penny Bond (James) of Bowling Green and Pamela Hughes (James) of Fairview, TN; two sons, Jeff Duvall (Melissa) and Greg Duvall both of Danville, VA; a brother, Joey Jennings of Virginia; nine grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

 Betty Lou Davis Ashley, 68, of Brownsville passed away at 1:20 PM Friday at Edmonson Care and Rehab Center.

The Edmonson County native was a certified nursing assistant at The Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Aubrey Davis and Christine Sego Davis. She was preceded in death by a half brother, Bobby Sego.

Memorial service will be at 7:00 PM Monday at Gravil Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Monday.

Surviving are a brother, Gary Davis (Judy) of Chalybeate; a niece, Samantha Davis-Hennion; and a nephew, David Davis.

Kermit Woosley, 73, of Roundhill passed away at 5:45 PM Sept. 15, 2014 at Bowling Green Nursing and Rehab.
 
The Edmonson County native was a groundskeeper retired from WKU and a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Lester Woosley and Gracie Jones Woosley.
 
Funeral will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-9 PM Wednesday and after 9 AM Thursday.

Mallie Mae Lobb, 91, of Park City, KY, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014  in Glasgow. She was born March 2, 1923 in Barren County to the late Harry B. and Sarah Elizabeth Gordon Lobb. She was an upholsterer and a member of Fairview General Baptist Church. 

She is survived by two nieces, Willa Dean Brown and Sally Crump (Leland) both of Park City, KY; four nephews, Kenny Lobb (Eleanor) of Smiths Grove, KY, Arnold Lobb (Dorothy) of Brownsville, KY, Roland Lobb (Aileen) of Glasgow, KY and Carlos Lobb of Ormano Beach, FL; several great nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Hodge, 83,  of Merry Oaks, KY,  passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014 in Glasgow. He was born January 20, 1931  in Barren County to the late William Hazel Hodge and Nina Lee Hester Hodge and was married to Geneva Emerson Hodge of Merry Oaks.  He was a  farmer, carpenter, milk hauler for Carnation Milk Co. and a member of  Oak Grove United Methodist Church. 

He is also survived by two sons, Rickie Hodge and Mike Hodge (Sheila) both of Merry Oaks; three grandchildren, Chris Hodge (Tracy), Kelly Hodge (Jacie) and Robin Kidwell (Roger); four great-grandchildren, Josh Hodge, Bradley Kidwell, Charity Kidwell and Kayla Hodge and three step great-grandchildren, Gabby Moss, Daulton Brumitt and Blaine Mooneyhan.

Virgie “Granny” Salings,  83, of Brownsville,  departed this life on  Monday, September 8, 2014.  The Edmonson County native was born  April 9, 1931 to the late  Roby and Gurtie Elmore Huff.  She was caregiver and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Rochelle, IL. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Haynes (Tommy) of Glasgow, KY; three sons, Phillip Huff of Morgantown, KY, Philander Phelps (Rhonda) of Sikeston, MO and Tim Phelps (Amy) of Asheville, NC; three brothers, Gus Huff (Shirley) of Bowling Green, KY, J.R. Huff of Big Reedy, KY and Dagwood Huff (Rosie) of Roundhill, KY; three sisters, Betty Cherry of Bowling Green, KY, Beverly Smith of Morgantown, KY and Mettie Pogue (Jerry) of Central City, KY; twenty three grandchildren; forty two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Geraldine "Gerry" Wardlow, 86, of Bee Spring passed away at 3:40 AM Sept. 9, 2014 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
 
The Edmonson County native was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL and was a secretary for RKO Studios, Holley Carburetor, Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce and Central Finance Co. She was a daughter of the late Willie Carroll and Ethel Vincent Carroll and the wife of the late Jack Wardlow.
 
Funeral will be at 1 PM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial in Key Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday and after 9 AM Thursday.
 
Surviving are a son, Mark Wardlow (Lorie) of Bee Spring; a sister, Wilda Larson of Minnesota; and two grandchildren, Lauren Whitaker and Noah Meredith.

Timothy Kirk Durbin, 59, of Sunfish passed away at 7:00 AM Sept. 7, 2014 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

The Greeley, CO native was an LP gas distributor. He was a son of the late John A. Durbin and Dorothy M...ae Bachman.

Memorial service will be at 4:00 PM Sept. 21st at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he was a member. Visitation will begin at1:00 PM Sept. 21st at the church.

Mossie  Skaggs Sanders, 84, of Mammoth Cave, KY, departed this life on Sunday, September 7, 2014 in Louisville, KY. The Edmonson County native was born September 30, 1929 to the late James R. and  Rose Nell Vincent Skaggs and was the wife of the late Essie Carter and the late Elmer Sanders. She was a retired assembly line worker for GE and a member of Harmony Eastern Star in Louisville, KY and Ollie United Baptist Church. 

 She is survived by four sons, Cary R. Carter (JoAnn) and David E. Carter both of  Louisville, KY, Anthony R. Sanders (Lana) of Mt. Washington, KY and  Mark S. Sanders (Debbie) of Shepherdsville, KY; one daughter, Karen Rose Simon (Ronnie) of Louisville, KY; thirteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Randel S. Sanders; three brothers, Rome, Ralph and Rondle Skaggs; two sisters, Mable Rich and Jean Jaggers and one great-great grandson, Hunter Varble.

 BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- James Leroy Sanders, 90, of Grassland passed away at 2:04 AM Saturday at Edmonson Care and Rehabilitation Center.
 
     The Edmonson County native was an upholsterer, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of New Home General Baptist Church. He was a son of the late John Martin Sanders and Ellis Sanders and the husband of the late Eula Mae Vincent Sanders. He was preceded in death by a son, Haskell Sanders; a sister, Glenna Mae Hardin; and two brothers, Lawrence Sanders and Paul Sanders.
 
     Funeral will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial in Holly Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-9 PM Monday and after 9 AM Tuesday.

Elton Harrell Crowder, 79, of  Dahlonega, GA, formerly of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Sunday, August 31, 2014 in Cumming, GA.  The Edmonson County native was born October 25, 1934 to the late Blue and Lillie Mae Higgs Harrell and was the wife of the late Willard T. Crowder. She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Grove General Baptist Church. 
She is survived by three daughters, Dora Johnson (Wallace) of Bee Spring, KY, Joyce Fields (Bernard) of Dahlonega, GA and Mary Jo Vincent (Edgar) of Brownsville, KY; one son, Travis Crowder of Brownsville, KY; one stepson, Charles Crowder of Brownsville, KY; eight grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one step daughter, Gaye Blue and one great great grandson, Landon Johnson.

Imogene Bryant, 79 of the Pine Grove community in Edmonson County passed away on
September 1, 2014 at her home. Imogene was the daughter of the late Alton and Versie
Bryant, also of the Pine Grove Community. She was preceded in death by two brothers
Don Bryant and Hal J Bryant, two sisters Dorothy Bryant Meredith and her husband
Momen, and Joyce Bryant Wingfield and her husband M.O. She was also preceded in
death by a nephew Donald Ray Bryant.
Imogene was a life long member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church in Edmonson
County where she had once served as treasurer and pianist. She was retired from Riley's
Bakery in Bowling Green where she had worked for 58 years. She was well loved and
respected by the congregation of her church and by the employees of Riley's Bakers.
Imogene was a graduate of Brownsville High School in Edmonson County where she
was a cheerleader and basketball player. She loved her daughter, family and friends with
her whole heart. She was also ready with a helping hand or a loving piece of advise for
anyone in need. Imogene's friends knew her as a "character," always ready with a
humorous word or story. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Imogene also loved her home, living there as a child and eventually returning as an adult.
She was also a loving caregiver for her mother and father.
Imogene is survived by a daughter, Sue Johnson Fitzpatrick and her husband Alex; three
nephews, Ben Meredith, Charles Meredith (Darlene), Harvey Meredith (Joyce); four
nieces Patsy Meredith Halvorson (Jerry), Sherre Bryant Long (Tim) and Lisa Bryant
Meredith (Steve) and Donna Bryant Stivers (John). She is also survived by two stepnieces
Donna Smith (Richard) and Gail Elmore (Larry); two sisters-in-law Jeanne Bryant
and Faye Moran and several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling
Green Chapel with burial in Pine Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Edmonson
County. Visitation 1:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the
