Born in Union County Kentucky on November 1, 1921, she was the daughter of Clayton and Willie Below. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, A. B. Mitchell and her son Brooks Mitchell. Her siblings Elsie, Charles and Bill, and all of her Mitchell in-laws preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Jane Mitchell Weston (Harold) of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughters Rachel Mitchell Ferguson (Burr) of San Diego, California, and Caroline Mitchell Lusk (Andy) of Mt. She taught home economics in school systems in northern, eastern, western and southern Kentucky. She retired as a teacher in the Edmonson County School District after 25 years of service. She also served as a home economist for Warren Rural Electric Cooperative, and was the first Home Economics Extension Agent in Edmonson County. She organized the first Homemaker Clubs in Edmonson County, which are still in existence over 50 years later. Eleanor was known for her hospitality, generosity and kindness within her family, her schools, and in her community. She was a member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church. As a teacher, it was important to her that students not only gained knowledge but were able to apply it throughout their lives. She retired to The Lakes at Mount Dora, Florida close to family. "Bill Tom" Duvall, 86, of Lindseyville passed away at 12:27 PM Oct. 3, 2017 at Edmonson Care and Rehab Center. The Edmonson County native was owner and operator of Bill's Barber Shop for 45 years, a U.S. Marine veteran, and a member of Washington Meredith Lodge #355 F & AM. He was a son of the late Tom Duvall and Mary McClure Duvall. He was preceded in death by a son, Brent Duvall; two brothers, Lester Duvall and Edmon Duvall; and five sisters, Naomi VanMeter, Estella Vincent, Irene Carroll, Nola Meredith and Dorothy Meredith. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Midway Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Thursday, 9 AM-8PM Friday and after 9 AM Saturday. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Stewart Duvall; a son, Benny Duvall (Stephanie) of Brownsville; two granddaughters, Shayna Tyree (Jason) of Sweeden and Kailee Duvall of Brownsville; a step grandson, Austin Hogan; and several nieces and nephews. ![]() Walter Meredith, age 85 of Bee Spring, departed this life on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Genesis Health Care Edmonson Center. The Edmonson County native was born on March 22, 1932 to the late Mitch and Lena Hayes Meredith, and was married to Norah Rea Decker. He was a construction worker, a farmer and was a member of Jock United Baptist Church. He leaves to honor his memory— one daughter, Carrie Ragland (Garry) of Bee Spring; four sons, Gary Meredith (Darlene) and Tommy Hodge both of Louisville, Jerry Hodge of Bee Spring and Thomas Hodge (Carmen) of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren, Brittany Mabrey (Richard), Corey Keith (Brookee Payton), Toby Meredith (Kelsey Mendell), Colton Ragland, Brianna Geralds-Hodge, Logan Hodge, Jasmine Hodge and Carson Hodge; three great grandchildren, Alivia Mabrey, Mason Mabrey and Kayden Keith and a son-in-law, Rick Keith (Janet). He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carla Keith. Interment will be in Bee Spring Cemetery. He was a son of the late Harlan Carroll and Dora Saltsman Carroll. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Susan Carroll, Agnes Wolfe and Evellen Jaggers; and four brother, James, Jimmy, Franklin and Danny Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at New Salem General Baptist Church, where he was a member, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Thursday at the church. Gravil Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Surviving are his wife, Nelsie Marie Meredith Carroll; two sons, A.J.
