James Earl Miller, age 81 of Bowling Green passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. 

The Edmonson County native was born July 14, 1940 to the late Willie and Tilda Wilson Miller. The Army Veteran was a tool and die maker at Cutler Hammer/Eaton and retired from Akebono Brake Corporation.  He was a member of the Church of Christ. James was preceded in death by his brother, Junior Miller (Anna Keen); two sisters, Nola Durham (James) and Elizabeth Miller; one niece, Lisa Miller Nevins and two nephews, James Durham and Jackie Scruggs.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Carolyn King Miller; two daughters, Kristi Smith (Earl) and Jamie Miller; one niece, Theresa Durham and one nephew, Daniel King (Rachel).

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Bowling Green Gardens.  Visitation will be   4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

C. Peter Mahurin , age 83 of Bowling Green, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.  The Grayson County native was born on September 21, 1938 to the late Clarence and Lora-Nell Mahurin.  He was married for over fifty years to his adoring wife, Dixie Cann Mahurin. 

Pete grew up on a rural farm in Short Creek.  He was a selfless, simple man that never wanted recognition.   He often referred to his childhood, life lessons that awarded him great successes throughout his career.  He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts - Chemistry degree.  He taught high school math and physics,  took a risk and wrote a letter to apply for a financial adviser position with Hillard Lyons in 1968.   Pete didn’t have a business degree, or have influential contacts.  However, he had common sense and determination, and later became one of Hillard Lyons’,  which later merged with Baird, top producers. 

He used an “old school” approach to business development.  He earned the trust and respect of his clients, and was currently the Director and Financial Advisor for Baird Private Wealth Management. He also served on the board of directors for Tennessee Valley Authority, Houchens Industries, Albany Bancorp, Cecilia Bancorp, Jackson Financial and Gray Construction.  He earned his Honorary Doctorate in 2009 from Lindsey Wilson College, and was named Philanthropist of the Year by Western Kentucky University in 2011.

Pete had a heart of gold, and made countless contributions to those less fortunate, to universities, churches and charities. Through the years, he and his wife, Dixie, valued the benefits of education, and was distinguished in 2017 by the WKU Board of Regents designation of the Mahurin Honors College. 

Of all his accomplishments, his greatest achievement was when he found the Lord as an adult at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Grayson County. Pete later joined Pleasant Union United Baptist Church, and was a devoted and faithful member until his passing.  

Besides his wife Dixie, he leaves to honor his memory, his daughter whom he cherished, Sarah Jo Mahurin (Matthew Mutter); his beautiful granddaughter, June Caroline Mutter; three brothers, Dr. A. John Mahurin, James Mahurin and Joseph Mahurin; his brother-in-law, Dann Cann (Kathi); dear colleagues, Shannon Vitale (Mike) and Sue Badgett (Brown), along with several nieces and nephews.

Susie Adair Gott Mills, 73 of Bowling Green passed away October 26, 2021 at Hopkins Rehab after a lengthy illness.

Susie was a native of Richardsville and born November 29, 1947. Susie as the daughter of the late Mable Stella Gott and Ervin Lamore Gott. She was preceded in death by her husband George Thomas Mills, her brother Mack Gott, her sister, Ruby Stahl and an infant brother, Lamore Gott.

Susie was part of the Charter Senior Living community/Bowling Green Retirement Community for 12 years. She was retired from Western KY University after 25 years of service and secondly retired from Kroger. Susie LOVED life especially relationships and never met a stranger. She had a gift of remembering names and everyones birthday. She looked forward to outings, activities and planned services at the retirement community.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Sandy Gabbard, Wanda Chapman, Debra Chaney, James Robert Stahl, Traci Reed and Timothy Gott. Susie also had 14 great nieces and nephews and numerous great, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Kinser Cemetery. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Clyde Brooks, age 72 of Mammoth Cave, departed this life on Friday, October 22, 2021 at his residence. The Edmonson County native was born on March 2, 1949 to the late Almon A. and Mable Kidwell Brooks. He was married to Pam Brooks, who survives.

Clyde was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a farmer, and had previously worked for the civil service and as deputy for the Edmonson County Sheriff. He was a member of Hill Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Cub Run Masonic Lodge #910 F&AM.

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory— three sons, Randy Brooks of Mammoth Cave, KY, Charlie Brooks (Margaret) and Jerry Brooks (Robin) all of Cub Run, KY; eleven grandchildren, Shauna, Cody, Taylor, Lane, Devin, Ruth, Gaige, Bryer, Slade, Austin and Gavin; four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jodi Sue, Nova Leigh, and Joseph; one brother, Charles Weldon Brooks (Sharon) of Bowling Green, KY; three sisters, Nelsie Taylor, Bobbi Wilson (Robert) and Nina Childress (Kenneth) all of Mammoth Cave, KY and a brother-in-law, Arnold Wilson of Cub Run, KY. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Terry, Jerry, Phil and Eddie Brooks and one sister, Jean Wilson.

Mary Frances Pedigo, age 84 of Cave City, departed this life on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Elizabethtown. The Barren County native was born on May 12, 1937 to the late Veach and Eula Undine Poynter Hampton. She was married to Wayne Pedigo, who also preceded her in death. 
 
She was an inspector at Horse Cave Sewing Factory for forty-two years, and a member of the Baptist Faith.

She leaves to honor her memory— son, David Pedigo (Caryn) of Elizabethtown; grandsons, Josh Pedigo (Amanda) and Aaron Pedigo (Lauran); granddaughter, Kristin Maples (Andrew); great-grandsons, Lincoln Pedigo and Landen Pedigo; great-granddaughters, Lilly Pedigo, Madison Maples and sister, Ruth Etta Dehart.

Helen Fay Hatcher, age 77 of Glasgow, departed this life on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at her residence. The Hart county native was born on January 2, 1944 to the late Amos and Lucinda Meredith Jaggers. She was married for 60 years to Russell Hatcher, who survives.

She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Hill United Baptist Church.

Kimberly Scott Flener, 61, of Morgantown, KY entered into her eternal heavenly home on Thursday, October 14th, 2021, from injuries sustained in a car accident. She is survived by her children, Joshua Scott Hampton (Jennifer) and Amanda Lane Flener, all of Morgantown; grandchildren, Laney Bell Hampton, Morgantown, KY and Sophia Lane Johnson, Owensboro, KY; mother, Anne Scott Evans (Hugh) of Morgantown, KY; sister, Angela Scott Keathley (Bryan) of Union City, TN; brother, Jason Keith Scott (Carissa), of Ekron, KY; nieces, Katherine Flener, Delaina Flener, and Ameia Scott; nephews Andrew Keathely, Matthew Keathley, Cade Scott, Canon Scott and William Flener; aunts, Rose Mary Page and Teresa Edmunson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Linda Flener; brother-in-law, Scott (Kara) Flener.

Kimberly was preceded in death by her father, William “Laney” Scott, grandmothers, Evelyn Page and Beulena Scott; grandfathers, Glyndon Page and Odell Scott; and her loving husband of 30 years, Boyce Dale Flener, II.

“Kim” was born on September 29th, 1960, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to the union of Anne and Laney Scott. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined First Baptist Church of Morgantown, along with her family. She was actively involved in church, school and community activities. In the Summer of 1981, Kim met her sweetheart, Boyce Flener. From that day forward, their names were rarely mentioned separately. She often described their courtship and marriage as a fairy tale.

Kim was an honor graduate of Butler County High School and Western Kentucky University. She had a passion for lifelong learning. Kim opened her heart and shared her talents in a teaching career with elementary/middle school students in Crittenden, Ohio, and Butler counties. Each student’s need was important in her eyes; often, she took care of essential needs that exceeded the expectation of the classroom teacher. She was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and Aberdeen Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed time spent at the beach, with her grandchildren, and reading.

Kim greatly cherished friends and family. A loving daughter, sister, and aunt, she doted on those she loved. She had a keen eye for capturing the perfect moment in a photograph and possessed an endless library of pictures she shared with joy. As a gifted writer, Kim shared pictures and stories of real life that kept moments alive in her family’s hearts forever. Of all the earthly titles and positions of which she has held, none could compare with “mother”, “grandmother”, and “wife”. “Mom” to Josh and Amanda; “May-May” to Laney Bell and Sophia; and “Honey” to her beloved Boyce, were her most honored titles. She could pack a bag that held any item needed by any family member attending band shows, gospel singings, a ride in the woods, or a day at the lake. She was a fierce protector and supporter of those she loved, having never left Boyce’s side in the days following his cancer diagnosis.

Kim longed for the day to be reunited in Heaven with Boyce. Because of their love and acknowledgement of Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives, they have been reunited. More importantly, they have seen Jesus, their Savior, face to face. Kim will be missed here upon this earth, but there is rejoicing in Heaven. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5.

Visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Chapel, Morgantown, KY on Sunday, October 17th from 4-8pm. Visitation on Monday will be held from 10am until time for the funeral service at 1pm at the Aberdeen Missionary Baptist, with Bro. Glen Armstrong and Bro. Tommy Hines officiating. Kenneth H. Lewis, 88, of Brownsville passed away peacefully Oct. 15, 2021 at his home.

He was born May 14, 1933 in the Boiling springs community to the late Clint Lewis and Matilda Wilson. He lost his parents at a young age and was raised in Boiling Springs by his grandmother, the late Stella Long Wilson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sybil Wells; three half brothers, Huel, Cletus and James Lewis; a son-in-law, Gary Raymer; and a daughter, Linda Kinser Sowders.

Kenneth was a retired painter, a US Army veteran and a member of Union Light Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed working puzzles, fishing, mushroom hunting, painting and keeping his yard and fields mowed with his John Deere. He never knew a stranger and would always make you smile and laugh. He loved spending time with his family and fur baby, Toby- and he always put them first.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Holly Springs Cemetery. Visitation will take place 12-7 PM Tuesday and after 9:00 AM Wednesday. The family requests that all visitors please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

The Edmonson County native was a homemaker and a member of Christian Home General Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Arnold Clark and Inas Poteet Clark. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Tina Clemons, Shirley Stewart and Francis “Fran” Clark.

The Edmonson County native was a carpenter, a retired Kroger produce manager, and a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Jessie Junior Lindsey and Jewel Gipson Carroll. He was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip Anson Lindsey and Andrew Nathan Lindsey and a brother, Jessie Ray Lindsey.

The Edmonson County native was an insurance agent and a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Carl Lee Ashley Jr. and Vickie Lashley Ashley of Grassland, who survives.

Betty Jean Watt, age 77 of the Pine Grove community, peacefully departed this life with her family by her side on Sunday, October 10, 2021.  The Edmonson County native was born on March 10, 1944 to the late Homer and Maggie Johnson Lindsey.  She was married to Norman Watt, who also preceded her in death.

Betty worked in her home to care for her family, and was a member of Oak Grove United Baptist Church. 

She leaves to honor her memory— one daughter, Sandy Poteet (Wendell) of Pine Grove; two sons, Randy Watt (Dreama) of Cedar Springs and Calvin Watt of Pine Grove; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Jackson (Stephen), Tabitha Watt, Scott Lindsey (Katelyn), Justin Watt (Katlyn), Sabrina Holt (Christopher), Jordan Watt and Colton Watt (Kaylee); fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirlene Young of Brownsville and Virginia Burns (Albert) of Georgia and  two brothers, William Jackie Lindsey (Linda) and C.D. Sandra Lee Logsdon, age 69 of Brownsville, departed this life on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Spring View Nursing and Rehab in Leitchfield.  The Edmonson County native was born on September 15, 1952 to the late Pete and Dottie Richards Minton. 

Sandra had previously worked for Sumitomo, and owned Sandra’s Antiques and Glassware. 

She leaves to honor her memory— two sons, Charles Hall Logsdon of Chalybeate and Pete Scott Logsdon of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Katlyn Logsdon, Carsan Tinsley (Trey), Chanley Logsdon, Payton Logsdon, Nicholas Logsdon and Finley Logsdon; one sister, Debbie Gibson of Brownsville and three brothers, Dusty Minton (Faye) of Indiana, Billy “Buck” Minton of Munfordville and Richard Minton of Brownsville.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Rusty Minton.

Billy Kenneth Vincent, 75, of Sweeden passed away at 9:10 AM Friday Oct. 8, 2021 at Hospice House in Bowling Green.
 
The Edmonson County native was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Kyrock United Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Eldon D. Vincent and Palvenia Higgs Vincent. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Lee Vincent and seven siblings.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Sweeden Cemetery. Visitation will take place 12-7 PM Tuesday and after 10:00 AM Wednesday.

Delana Marie Barbour, 58, of Brownsville passed away at 11:58 AM Oct. 6, 2021 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Ft. Hood, TX native was an employee of Walmart Supercenter on Walton Ave. in Bowling Green and a member of The Community Church at Cedar Springs. She was the daughter of the late Paul Wallace Barbour Sr. and Patty Vincent Barbour of Brownsville, who survives.

Arlene V. Nash Miller, 94, of Big Reedy passed away at 8:25 PM Saturday at Edmonson Center in Brownsville.
 
The Edmonson County native was a bank teller, a member of Big Reedy Church of Christ and was a Gold Star Mother. She was a daughter of the late Nattie Nash and Lula Miller Nash. She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Hereau; a sister, Elora Simpson; and three brothers, John Nash, Everett Nash, and Estill Nash.

Robert E. “Kink” Carney, age 63 of Cave City, departed this life on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. The Radcliff, KY native was born on August 21, 1958 to the late Ivan and Dorothy  Burnett Carney.  

Robert was the owner/operator of Carney’s Body Shop and Auto Sales since 1978.   He was known in the area as an excellent auto body repair man.  Through the years, his love and passion for first generation muscle cars led him to collecting various, beautiful cars. 

He leaves to honor his memory— daughter, Chasta Martin (Chris) of Canmer; two sons, Ryan and Carson Carney of Cave City; his partner, Angela Bailey of Cave City; three grandsons, Garrett Tyler Dennison, Austin Martin and Caymen Martin of Canmer; two brothers, Larry Carney of Bowling Green and Gary Carney (Zelda) of Cave City; four sisters, Imogene Carney of Gallatin, TN, Lucinda Carney of Lebanon, TN, Sandra Alexander (Max) of Bowling Green and Nancy Carney of Springfield, TN; several nieces, nephews and decades of friends. 

Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.

Mary L. Vincent, 82, of Bee Spring passed away at 3:20 AM Saturday Oct. 2, 2021 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.
 
The Seymour, IN native was a homemaker and a retired employee of Brownsville Garment Manufacturing. She was a daughter of the late Herman York and Alma Hohnsteiter York and the wife of the late Homer Vincent. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dallas York and Bobby York and a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Vincent.
 
Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Key Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday.
 
Surviving are two sons, Frank Phipps of Bee Spring and Shannon Vincent of Bowling Green; two daughters, Shelby Butler (Frank) of Cecilia and Susie Vincent of Bee Spring; a brother, Larry York of Seymour; a sister, Shirley Sapp of Seymour; two grandchildren, Brittany Phipps and Autumn Butler; four step grandchildren, Joshua Meador (Sherry), Mark Meador, April Meador and Todd Meador (Coleen); a step great granddaughter, Faith York; and several nieces and nephews.

Lisa Ann Durbin Young, 58, of Bowling Green passed away Sept. 8, 2021 at her home.
 
The Edmonson County native was a graduate with two degrees from WKU, a CPA and a purchaser for various companies. She was the daughter of the late Terry Ray Durbin and Christine Duvall Durbin.
 
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Oct. 16, 2021 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she was a member. Gravil Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
 
Surviving are her husband, Mark Young; two brothers, Derrick Durbin (Denise) of Fort Thomas and Larry Durbin of Portland, TN; a niece, Kristin Durbin; and three nephews, Henry Durbin, Terry Durbin and Marcus Durbin.

Frank Crabtree, age 59 of Oakland, departed this life on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at his residence. The Barren County native was born on October 1, 1961 to the late Roy T. and Georgia Dorothy Dean Crabtree. He was married to Donna Fay Clark Crabtree, who survives. 

Frank was a maintenance worker for Diamond Caverns. He enjoyed being outside working on vehicles, building and taking care of his lawn. 

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory— two sons, Frankie Lee Crabtree of Brownsville and Christopher Crabtree of Oakland; stepson, Stephen Burnett of California; stepdaughter, Jennifer Hernandes of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Kailie Hernandez, Amaliya James, Andrew Fowler, Michael Fowler, Ferrari Boards and Alainah Crabtree; four brothers, Eddie Crabtree, Jeff Crabtree (Melinda), Joe Crabtree (Daphne) and James Crabtree (Rebecca) and five sisters, Helen Byrd (Tommy Cline),  Shirley Vincent (Cliff), Peggy Hayes, Kathy Thompson (Norvin) and Angie Woolbright. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa Faye Crabtree. 

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
