William R. “Bill” Lindsey, age 82 of Brownsville, departed this life with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green. The Jefferson County native was born on February 19, 1941 to the late William R. and Marguerite Humphrey Lindsey. He was married to his loving and devoted wife, Elizabeth Lindsey, who survives.
Bill worked for years as a licensed electrician and plumber, and retired from the Medical Center at Bowling Green as an engineering supervisor. He was a faithful member and trustee at Poplar Spring United Baptist Church, until his health began to fail. Bruce served Edmonson County as a constable for over 40 years. He was a co-owner of Denham Auto Sales with his brother and nephew, Noel and Jon. He was of the Baptist faith. Bruce was quite the character. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke and pull pranks. Linda was born on August 6, 1952 in Brownsville, KY. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Sister and Friend.
Her husband, Greg Miller, survives her, as well as her three sons David Edwin Miller, Michael Joseph Miller and Kyle Adam Stanton, her two daughters Sarah Turner and Pristina Davis. Linda is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, her brother, Ronnie Johnson (Darla), and two sisters, Patsy Farris and Joyce Brown (Rick). She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Bertha Mae Johnson, one brother Donald Wayne Johnson and a daughter, Rebecca Miller. Linda professed her faith in Christ and was saved at a young age at South Union General Baptist Church, were she remained a member. After going to Springview Nursing Home and Rehab, Linda read her Bible daily and loved to talk about the Lord. Linda was a hard worker all of her life until her health declined. She was the oldest of four children and always worked hard when she was at home, whether it be helping with the garden, milking cows on the dairy farm or cooking the family meals while her parents were working in the crops or milking cows on the dairy farm. Linda was known for her intelligence and sweet nature. She had a passion for helping others and dedicated her career to the medical field. Linda started her journey in the medical field at a young age at Twin Lakes Regional Hospital. She worked there for many years until she moved to Shepherdsville, KY and started working as a medical assistant for Dr. Bruer, before transitioning and becoming a lab technician. Her dedication and passion touched the lives of many patients throughout her career. Outside of work, Linda found joy in her hobbies. She had a talent for quilting and crocheting. Linda made friends with ease and loved conversation with everyone. Linda chose to be an organ donor. If she were able to save one life, it would have pleased her. She dedicated a lot of her life to the medical field and helping others. There will be a memorial service planned later. Linda’s family meant the world to her. She will be missed greatly. Patsy Craddock Houchins, age 74 of Chalybeate departed this life on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. The Hart County native was born on March 1, 1949 to the late Dane and Dollie Childress Craddock. She was married to her husband of fifty years, Tony Houchins, who survives.
Pat was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and retired from Warren County Public Library. She attended Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed gardening, cooking and crafting. Time spent with her children and grandchildren brought her the greatest joys. Frank was saved as an adult at Midway United Missionary Baptist Church, and remained a devoted member until his health began to fail. He worked for many years at Belknap Hardware and Manufacturing Company in Louisville. In his later years, he worked at Green River Hardware. Frank had a gift to pray for the lost, and that brought him life’s greatest joy. Frank and Florence’s home was always filled with love, and was a second home to many children through the years. Phyllis was a charter employee for Humana Insurance, where she worked for over thirty-years. until her retirement. She loved to travel with her husband and was able to visit 45 of the 50 states. Janice was born August 16, 1942 in Big Reedy, KY to the late Alton Burks and Edna Mae Tomes Woosley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Gene Young; two brothers, Sheridan and Alben Woosley; sister Joyce Harrison, brother-in-law, Jack Harrison, and sister-in-law Myra Woosley.
Janice is survived by her children, Jay (Sherry) Young of Waynetown, IN and Erin Young of Indianapolis, IN; and grandchildren, Makhalea (Chris) and Shane Young; one brother, Terrell Woosley (Mary Ann); sister-in-law Lillie Woosley, and several nieces and nephews. Janice was a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where she met Ray. Ray and Janice were married on June 13, 1964, a week after graduating from WKU, with Janice wearing the wedding gown she had sewn herself on “Mamaw” Woosley’s old treadle sewing machine. They settled in New Albany and Greenville, IN before moving to Crawfordsville, IN upon retirement to be able to enjoy being wonderful grandparents to Shane and Makhalea. Janice was a lifelong librarian working at Hazelwood Jr High School in New Albany, as well as Iroquois Public Library in Louisville, KY. Janice had many talents and interests. She loved to sew, quilt, do puzzles, crossword puzzles and play scrabble (especially with cousin Julia Ann). She also was an avid tennis fan, which she passed on to daughter Erin, and they enjoyed going to the annual tennis tournament in Cincinnati for many years together. One of her greatest joys was to travel; she had a deep love of the ocean, and she and Ray shared many trips from Florida to Maine to Nova Scotia where they enjoyed seeing as many lighthouses as they could. Their final big trip with dear friends was also their first flight; to London, England. They toured England and Scotland. Which leads to one of Janice’s other great loves, she enjoyed all things British and learning about the English royalty, including the Crown Jewels which she got to see in person. She also enjoyed many trips out “West” with her brother Alben. But beyond all of these, she loved her family the very most. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. Nadene and her husband owned and operated Miss Green River Boat Concessions at Mammoth Cave National Park for over twenty-eight years. She was a faithful member of Cave City Baptist Church, until her health began to fail. The Edmonson County native was a 1967 graduate of ECHS, a retired CNA/CMA for The Medical Center @ Bowling Green and Greenview Hospital and a member of First Love General Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Clifford Torrence and Goldie Clark Torrence. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Torrence, Clifford Torrence Jr. and Ronnie Torrence; a sister, Sandra Faye Meredith; three grandchildren, Gerald Wayne Vincent, Brandon Kyle Grider and Krista Lynn Vincent; two great granddaughters, Kyleigh Westray and Grace Lynn; a son-in-law Lee Crowder; and a sister-in-law, Connie Vincent. Frankie Toms, age 89 of Park City, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 at The Medical Center at Caverna. Frankie was born in Hart County to the late Ted and Annie Mae Toms on August 10, 1934. At 29 years of age, he was saved while at his workplace in July 1963 and joined Cedar Hill United Baptist Church in August 1964. Frankie served there as a trustee and ordained deacon and also served as church clerk for many years.
Following his retirement from Holley Carburetor after 38 years of employment, he spent many mornings golfing with his friends. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Army at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and Fort Eustis in Virginia. He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of 68 years, Olive R. Lloyd was born on August 4, 1948 in Mesa, AZ. He was the youngest of 4 and always known as the prankster. He moved to Kentucky as a young child and completed his grade school in Edmonson County, Kentucky and college education in Bowling Green, KY. His working career would be spent in Bowling Green until his retirement in 2007. In his early career, he was a firefighter and later spent most of his working years as a Quality Engineer for Corvette/General Motors. He also was known best as an entrepreneur, starting multiple small businesses over the years. As a young man, he also proudly and honorably served in the military (Navy) where he received the National Defense Service Medal. Some of Lloyd’s hobbies later in life included enjoying good food, traveling, cars and car shows, technology and gadgets, and keeping up the prankster reputation. While in The Villages during retirement, he worked part-time with The Villages Community Watch and with the Atomic Golf Cart Company, along with participating in several clubs that included The Kentucky Club, The Villages Pine Hills Club, and The Atomic Golf Cart Club. A Celebration of Life for Lloyd will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Society, 3990 E. SR 44, Ste. 105, Wildwood, FL 34785.
