The Edmonson County native was a retired disability support specialist for Best Center for Independent Living and a 1970 graduate of Edmonson County High School. She was a daughter of the late John Ronald “Jack” Byrnes and Zona Belle Ritter Byrnes. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Byrnes, Betty Basham and Mary “Bobby” Vincent; and a brother Charles Byrnes. Douglas McArthur Vincent, age 81, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (November 23, 2024) at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 03, 1943 in Edmonson County, KY, the son of the late Milton and Delores VanMeter Vincent. He worked as a Line Foreman for WRECC for more than 40 years and enjoyed hunting, fishing, frying chicken and attending Bloomington General Baptist Church, where he was a devout member for more than 50 years. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Hayes (Bobby) of Leitchfield, KY; six grandchildren, Mathew Aaron Hayes (Jessica), Joshua Cody Hayes (Amelia), Jacob Douglas Vincent, Ashley Nicole Hack (Travis), Alyssa and Cory Vincent; seven great-grandchildren, Randy Lee, Camila Elena, Bailey Keith, Emma Lynn, Audrey Monroe, Ava Pearl & Vendon Riley; one brother, Kadon Vincent (Carolyn) of South, KY; two sisters, Shirley & Brenda Vincent of Bee Springs, KY. Roger proudly served his country in the U.S Navy and Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, embodying values of bravery and commitment. After his military service, he pursued a fulfilling career as a technician for the United States Postal Service. He was also a member of Emmanuel Faith Church. A man of many interests, Roger had an insatiable curiosity about his ancestry. He found joy in delving into family history and genealogy, uncovering stories and connections that spanned generations. Additionally, he had a love for travel that took him to various destinations, and he cherished the adventures that came with exploring new places. Roger was also a devoted fan of Star Trek, sharing his enthusiasm for the series that captured the imaginations of so many. Besides his wife, Chun, he leaves to honor his memory— a daughter and son, Esther Lee (Joaquin Quinonez) and Peter Lee (Laura Seda), as well as a granddaughter, Una Lee-Quinonez. Jack was employed by Vault Pressure Control as a service technician in the oilfield. He enjoyed a variety of sports including, baseball, basketball, and football. His hobbies were playing video games, golf, and basketball. Jack was a great man, father, and husband. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Butch proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, completing three tours of duty. His commitment to his country exemplified the values he held dear: honor, dedication, and service. Following his military service, Butch transitioned into a successful career as a lineman and later as an engineer for South Central Telephone Cooperative. He tackled challenges with determination and skill, earning the respect of his colleagues and peers. He was an avid outdoorsman. Whether fishing or hunting, Butch found joy in every moment spent outside. In addition to his love for the outdoors, Butch was a sports fanatic, enthusiastically supporting his favorite teams. Terry Joe dedicated many years of his life to his career, retiring as a machine operator from Phillip Morris. Following his retirement, he worked at Dart Container, Nolin State Park, and as part of the mowing crew for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His work ethic and commitment to his responsibilities were evident throughout his career. In addition to his professional endeavors, Terry Joe had a farming background, where he cultivated tobacco and raised cattle until health issues prevented him from continuing. He found joy in simpler pleasures, often indulging in bargain shopping at auction houses and enjoying the thrill of piddling in junk. However, his greatest delight came from spending cherished moments with his family, which he held dear throughout his life. His faith was most important to him. He served as a trustee at Hill Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member until the Lord called him home. He was also a member of the Cub Run Masonic Lodge #910 F&AM. Kenneth enjoyed a fulfilling career as a conservation officer for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, where he served with honor and commitment. Beyond his professional achievements, he found immense joy in farming, hunting and fishing, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and share experiences with family and friends. He was a proud member of the Washington Meredith #355 F&AM Masonic Lodge, and a lifetime member of the League of Kentucky Sportsmen. After having grandchildren that utilized Norton Children’s Hospital, Kenneth was particularly passionate about the WHAS Crusade for Children, and contributing to the well-being of children that were in need. Kenneth was a member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. Many will fondly remember the moment he stood to proclaim being saved as a young man at Chalybeate United Baptist Church, a testament to his strong beliefs and values. Those who knew Kenneth well will remember him as an honest man who upheld integrity in all facets of his life. He instilled these same values in his children and grandchildren, teaching them by example the importance of being reputable, honest individuals and considerate neighbors. Besides his wife, Hazel, he leaves to honor his memory— his sons, Rocky Barth (Frances) of Louisville, Martin Meredith of Brownsville, Mark Meredith (Anna) of Bonnieville and Michael Meredith (Marsha) of Brownsville; his cherished grandchildren, Kristen Smith, Erica Kessinger (Daniel), Wade Meredith (Katie), Luke Meredith, Levi Meredith, Heath Barth (Jennifer) and Brittany Shields (Scott); great-grandchildren, Bentley and Blakely Kessinger; a son-in-law, Colby Smith; step children, Shirley Hatfield (Jerry), Bill Heath (Rita), Tommy Heath (Tijuana) and Denesa Sullivan; his siblings, Jeanette Kerr (David), JoAnn Vincent and Ray Meredith, along with several nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his only daughter, Regina Smith. Interment will be in Pleasant Union Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: WHAS Crusade for Children, 520 W.
