​JoAnna Hudson Cann, age 97 of Leitchfield, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.  The Grayson County native was born on August 2, 1920 to the late Tice and Pearl Meece Hudson.  She was the devoted wife and helpmate to her husband of sixty-five years, Bro. Carmen Cann, who preceded her in death. 

Mama Jo retired as the owner of Cann’s Store.  She was a member of Broadway Missionary Baptist Church, and a true prayer warrior with unending faith.

She leaves to honor her memory— one son, Dann Cann (Kathi) of Leitchfield; one daughter, Dixie Mahurin (Pete) of Bowling Green; two granddaughters, Amber Dale Cann (Adam) of LaGrange and Sarah Jo Mahurin (Matthew) of New Haven, Connecticut; one great granddaughter, June Mutter; one niece, Dorothy Snyder and a dear friend, Mary Lee Williams.

Interment will be in Broadway Church Cemetery.

James Loyd Meredith, age 63 of Bee Spring, KY, departed this life on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at his residence. The Louisville, KY native was born on November 2, 1954 to Donald Ray Meredith, of Bee Spring, who survives, and the late Martha Jane Bullock Meredith. He was married to Sandy Early Meredith, of Bee Spring, who also survives.

James Loyd was a former paramedic for The Medical Center at Bowling Green and Edmonson County EMS. He was also a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church, and was a former singer with Music City Boys and several other southern gospel groups.

Besides his wife and father, he leaves to honor his memory— one son, Donald Edward Meredith (fiancé Jennifer Dickens) of Smiths Grove; one daughter, Jamie Lynn Flora (Jeff) of Bowling Green; one brother, Teddy Lee Meredith (Beth) of Hopedale, IL; two stepsons, Perry Hack (Brooke) of Leitchfield and Aaron Hack of Louisville; three grandchildren, five step grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Ray Meredith and one grandchild, Franklin Danny Boyd.

Interment will be in Bee Spring Cemetery.

​Donald Rogers, age 83, of Glasgow, KY, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Signature Healthcare in Glasgow. The Barren County native was born on December 25, 1934. 

Donald was a retired dozer operator for Monroe Brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Franklin Rogers of Glasgow; three sons, Donnie Rogers (Nancy), John Robert Rogers and Jimmy Rogers (Valerie) all of Glasgow; one daughter, Sue Rogers of Glasgow; one stepson, Glenn Thomas Dennison III (Carol) of Glasgow; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; five great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Vernon Rogers.

Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.

​Christian Goodroe, age 16 of Rocky Hill, KY, departed this life on Sunday, December 17, 2017.  He was born on December 25, 2000 to Jimmy and Melissa Goodroe, whom survive. 

Christian was a junior at Edmonson County High School, and employed at Subway in Park City.  He was of the Baptist faith and truly enjoyed time spent with his friends either playing football, welding, auto mechanics or just listening to music. 

Besides his parents, he leaves to honor his memory— one brother, Trenton Goodroe of Rocky Hill; three sisters, Alyssa Vincent (Cody) of Brownsville, Angelica Madden (Travis Butler) of Brownsville and Johnah Madden of Scottsville; paternal grandmother, Betty Brooks of Glasgow; maternal grandparents, Sam and Becky Boles of Glasgow and Janice and Louie Earle of Louisville; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a hosts of friends.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Otis Goodroe and Herman Brooks. 

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

​Anna Janell Logsdon Durbin, 92, of Sunfish passed away at 4:13 AM Dec. 17, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

The Edmonson County native was a homemaker and did a great deal of volunteer work, including at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Brownsville. She had a kind and generous spirit, which made her a wonderful wife, mother, friend and neighbor. She was a daughter of the late Christopher "Kit" Logsdon and Eliza Durbin Logsdon and the wife of the late Estill Durbin. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Margaret Mathias and Jane Devine; five brothers, Elmer, Daniel "Tuck", Martin, Paul and Jake Logsdon; a sister, Mary Logsdon; and three grandchildren, Carrie Durbin, Ryan Durbin and Katie Simon.

Funeral will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she was a life-long member, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Monday, 9 AM-8 PM Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday at the church. Gravil Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Lou Wilson (Randall) and Paula Wilson (Estel) both of Sunfish and Carolyn Simon (Don) of Bowling Green; six sons, Steve Durbin, Raymond Durbin (Debbie) and Dennis Durbin (Shelia) all of Sunfish, Harold Durbin of Yucaipa, CA, Pat Durbin of Roundhill and Joe Durbin (Marjean) of Chalybeate; two sisters, Liz Logsdon of Bowling Green and Lina Oberhaus of Iowa; 26 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild.

​Gerald Lee Stewart, age 75 of Brownsville, KY, departed this life on Monday, December 18, 2017 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.  The Edmonson County native was born on May 25, 1942 to the late George Laymon Stewart and Lizzie Marie Browning Stewart.  He was married to Anna Renfro Stewart, who survives.

Gerald retired from DESA International as a welder, and was a member of Beaver Dam Chapel United Baptist Church. 

Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory— three sons, Alan Stewart (Wanda) of Brownsville, David Stewart (Maedena) of Smiths Grove and Tommy Stewart (Rosa) of Brownsville; three sisters, Lona Lindsey of Blackgold, Maedean Hennion of Poplar Springs, and Rebecca Meredith of Brownsville; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Dean Basham, 57, of Bowling Green passed away on  Thursday, December 14 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. He was born on March 21, 1960 in Louisville, KY to the late James Basham and Patricia Tallman Basham. He was married to Stacey Mercer Basham, who also preceded him in death.

He was a former truck driver for Olde South Trucking.  Dean was also a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Bowling Green, and a past member of Cub Run Masonic Lodge.

He leaves to honor his memory-- two daughters, Miranda Basham of Bee Spring and Lydia Basham of Cub Run; two stepsons, Bo Mercer and Gabriel Mercer (Brittany) of Oakland; two sisters, Deborah London (Jerry) of Hiseville and Patricia Spiekhout (Jason) of Bowling Green along with several nieces and nephews.

Patsy Thompson, age 83 of Mammoth Cave, KY, departed this life on Thursday, December 14, 2017.  The Jefferson County native was born on May 20, 1934 to the late Millis Meredith and Myrtle Davis Meredith.  She was married to Wilburn Thompson, who preceded her in death.

Patsy retired as a waitress from Country Kitchen and Mammoth Cave Hotel.  She was a member of Stockholm United Baptist Church. 

She leaves to honor her memory— her daughter and caretaker, Sandy Cox of Mammoth Cave.  Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her half brother, Albert Richard Strange, and half sister, Marie Beal. 

Interment will be in Stockholm Cemetery.

​William L. Jenkins, 91 of Bowling Green died Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the Hospice House of Southern KY.

The Warren County native was a son of the late Milton Omar and Clara Smith Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his wife Margarite Jenkins. W.L. was a mechanical engineer and a US Army veteran.

His survivors include three nieces, Sondra Page, Sheila Griffin and Stephanie Rogers; one nephew, Ken Jenkins.

There will be no services as cremation was chosen. His burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Thousand Oaks, California. Arrangements by Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.

​Thelma Fay Raymer, 89, of Brownsville passed away at 1:58 AM Dec. 12, 2017 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
 
The Edmonson county native was a seamstress for Brownsville Manufacturing. She was a daughter of the late William Esley Miller and Margaret Stinson Miller. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Vincent.
 
Funeral will be at 1:00 PM Friday at Red Hill General Baptist Church, where she was a member, with burial to follow in Doyle Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Wednesday, 9 AM-8 PM Thursday and after 9 AM Friday at Gravil Funeral Home.

​Daniel Kevin Decker, 39, of Bee Spring passed away at 2:00 PM Dec. 8, 2017 at his residence.
 
The Grayson County native was a construction worker. He was a son of Elroy Decker and Katherine L. Meredith Decker of Anneta, who survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Decker.
 
Visitation will be 11 AM-2 PM Monday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Pollyanna Cemetery in Anneta.
 
Also surviving are his wife, Valina Lindsey Decker; a son, Tyler Decker of Bee Spring; a step son, Jeffery Duvall of Bee Spring; grandfather, Ira Meredith of Bee Spring; two brothers, Tracey Decker (Reena) and Timmy Decker (Kathy) both of Anneta; and a grandson, Winston Duvall.
