Charles Delbert Carnes, 91, of Sweeden passed away at 1:05 PM Dec. 29, 2021 at Hospice House in Bowling Green.
The Hart County native was a boilermaker, a member of Local 40 and a US Army veteran. He was a son of the late William Edward Carnes and Ethel Mudd Carnes; the husband of the late Evelyn Jane Elmore Carnes; and the loving companion of the late Margie Craddock. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Carnes and Alan Carnes. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Bee Spring Cemetery. Leila Adwell, age 95, of Horse Cave, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Bowling Green Medical Center surrounded by her family. The Hart County native was born on November 28, 1926 to the late Claude and Genia May Dennison. She was married to the late George Anthony Adwell.
Leila loved the Lord and taught Sunday school at Little Hope Missionary Baptist Church for several years. Along with being a devout Christian, she was a devoted mother and grandmother. The Edmonson County native enjoyed fishing, riding his moped, yard sales and drawing and coloring pictures to give to others. He was a son of the late Ewing Stoy Lashley and Lucy Helen Lindsey Moore of Grassland, who survives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Lashley; a sister, Holly Raymer; and two nieces, Amy Lashley and Carla Davis. Zachary Dale Cottongim, 29, passed away suddenly on December 18, 2021, while selflessly performing his duties as a Louisville Metro Police Officer.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Patsy and Johnny Shillito, and Betty and Wayne Maggard; and mother-in-law, Kellie McKenzie. Zach graduated from Edmonson County High School, and went on to receive his degree in Criminal Justice from Daymar College. He was a seven year veteran of the Louisville Metro Police Department, and was assigned to the 1st Division. His dad, Dale, is also an LMPD officer, and Zach was so proud to have followed in his dad's footsteps in becoming an officer, fulfilling his dream. Zach also proudly served as a PTO (Probationary Training Officer), and aspired to someday work as an LMPD traffic officer. He loved the teamwork within 1st Division, its command staff, and his patrols with his best friend, Shaun Sargent. He was a “tech nerd”, enjoyed fishing, and loved playing with his sons. She enjoyed making quilts, searching yard sales or thrift stores for that perfect buy, Kentucky basketball and above all else, spending time with her family and friends. Pearl's entire world revolved around her great-grandchildren. Her smile would light up a room when she saw one of her precious angels. LeRoy retired from B and W Metals. He enjoyed spending time fishing and gardening, and was a member of Cave City United Methodist Church. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Nunn (Billy) of Park City; grandchildren, Andrea McCandless (Tyler) and Seth Nunn of Park City; great-grandchildren, Abel and Jaxon McCandless of Park City and several nieces and nephews. The Hart County native was born on February 2, 1944 to the late William Cecil and Irene Laird Hatcher. He was married to his devoted wife, Lina Sexton Hatcher, who survives.
Johnnie worked in maintenance for many years at the Cave City Rest Area. He was also a farmer and a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he leaves to honor his memory— two sons, Johnny Hatcher of Park City and Danny Hatcher (Rita) of Cave City; five grandchildren, Kevin Hatcher (Diedra), Michael Hatcher (Amanda), Evelyn Greeno (Ray), Rebecca Hatcher (Johnathan) and Elizabeth Irene Hatcher; eleven great-grandchildren and one brother, Raymond Hatcher. He was also preceded in death by his son, Franklin Hatcher; two brothers, Robert Ike and Clifton Hatcher and one sister, Edith Hogan. Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery. The Jefferson County native was a truck driver. He was the son of the late Willard Thomas Crowder and Zelma Meredith Crowder and the husband of the late Carol Hayes Crowder. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold Crowder; a daughter, Lisa Crowder; and a granddaughter, Krista Vincent. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday at Vincent Church, where he was a member, with burial to follow in Vincent Cemetery. Visitation will take place after 6:00 PM Friday at the church. Gravil Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Surviving are two sons, Lee Crowder (Linda) of Rocky Hill and Darren Crowder (Ashlie) of Brownsville; a daughter, Betty Jo Davis (Steve) of Brownsville; two sisters, Joyce Fields of Dahlonega, GA and Mary Vincent (Edgar) of Brownsville; seven grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. |
