Wilmon Newell Linger, 94, of Bowling Green passed away on Friday, December 22nd, 2023 at Greenview Regional Hospital. The Winterhaven, FL native was a son to the late Russell and Ada Baughman Linger. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Carolyn Barksdale Linger; daughter, Lauren Lundeen; and was the last of the five Linger siblings.

Mr. Linger served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech University and later received a Certificate of the Management Development Program from the Emory School of Business Administration.  He was an Aeronautical Engineer and retired from NASA and was a member of Smiths Grove Methodist Church. 

He is survived by his children, Mary Linger, Matthew Linger and Christy Allen (Dean); grandchildren, Daniel Dixon (Brittany) and John Lundeen; great-grandchildren, Sofia Dixon and Kingsley Dixon; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Smiths Grove Methodist Church with visitation from 10:30 until service time on Friday at the church.

Edwin Dale “Bobby” Orton, 93 of Lexington passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
The Burkesville, Kentucky, native was a son of the late David Orton and Edythe Allen Orton.  He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Elvira Denney Orton; a daughter, Sandra Adwell and his six siblings. 

After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Bobby joined the Kentucky Department of Highways.  Upon his retirement from the Highway Department in 1988, he joined the City of Lexington Engineering Department, where he retired in 2002.  Bobby loved U K Basketball, gardening, and telling stories to his McDonald’s group.  He volunteered with the Special Olympics and the National Kidney Foundation.  He was a member of Central Christian Church of Lexington, the UK Wildcat Club, the F.R.E.A.K.S. Social Club, and co-president of the Sheldon Club.

Leaving to cherish his memory is his wife of 36 years, Margaret Orton; two daughters, Barbara Jean Orton Roy (Tony) and Sherrie Lane Orton Sheets (Todd); two step-sons, Ronnie Adwell (Shelly) and James Thomas Adwell; seven grandchildren: Devin Orton, Garrett Cross, Alex Adwell (Amanda), Caroline Simpson, Anne Simpson, Brooke Ingram (Josh), and Brittany White; two great grandchildren, Onyx Adwell and Cooper Ingram; several nieces,  nephews and cousins.

His funeral service will be 12 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Eunice Faye Maston, age 88, of Bowling Green passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2023. She was born in Hart County on May 25, 1935 to the late Charles Leonard and Cora B. Doyle. She worked with her husband of 62 years, Stuart G. Maston at his business, Maston Overhead Door. When not working she was a homemaker who enjoyed being surrounded by her family, cooking meals for them and spending time with her grandchildren. She was of the Christian faith, and a member of Fairview Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. Eunice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers: Roger G. Doyle and Charles Doyle; and a great grandchild, Nathan Lyons.

She is survived by her two sons, Douglas S. (Rita) Maston of Gallatin, Tennessee, and Russell R. (Kelly) Maston of Woodburn; a daughter, Stacey M. (Richard) Francis of Richardsville; 7 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 1:00pm at the J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapel on Broadway with burial to follow in the Hawkins Cemetery in Edmonson County. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at 4:00pm until 7:00pm and again on Wednesday from 9:00am until the time of service.

Flora Martin Madison, 98, of Rocky Hill, passed away peacefully at her home on December 13, 2023.  The Warren County native was the daughter of the late General Washington Martin and Josephine Young Martin.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Howard Mitchell Madison, her two sons, Brian and Brent, and her grandson, Todd. 

Flora was also preceded in death by her brother, Lester Garland (L.G.) Martin & her sisters, Helen Martin, Ruth Hunton, Roberta Simmons, JoAnn Martin & her twin sister, Dora Kirby & infant brother George. 

Flora was Postmaster at Rocky Hill & retired after 32 years of service.  She and Mitchell also owned Madison’s Grocery in Rocky Hill.  She was a member of Mt. Vernon Church of Christ & O.E.S #279.  After retirement, she was also active in Edmonson County Homemakers & Nimble Thimble Quilting Club. 

Flora is survived by her daughter, Teresa Madison; Granddaughter, Ronna Booker; Grandson, Ryan Booker and his wife Leigh.  She leaves seven great grandchildren:  Caitlan, Hunter, Spencer, Madi, Ryleigh, Desi and Evan; and three great great grandchildren, Maddox, Larkin & Elijah.  She is also survived by her sister, Elsie Johnson; sister-in-law, Alma Martin; and special friend & neighbor, Dan Abell.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel.  An Eastern Star Ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 10:00   until time of service. Burial will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery.

C.D. Church, age 92, of Cave City, KY departed this life on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at The Medical Center at Caverna. The Luxora, Arkansas native was born on February 23, 1931, to the late Frank Roy and Lilly Dhority Church. He was married to his beloved wife of 69 years, Helen Miller Church, who survives.

C.D. served our country in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years, and served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement from the military, he started working at Mammoth Cave National Park. While he was there, he worked in maintenance, ran the Mammoth Cave Ferry and later retired. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and of the Christian faith.

C.D. enjoyed being around people. He could be found at many community gatherings and always had a good story to tell. His quick wit was always enjoyed by those he shared his stories and laughter with.

Besides his wife, Helen, he leaves to honor his memory— his sons, Steven Church, Randall Kevin Church (Mary Ann), Perry Church (Maria) and Russell Church; son-in-law, Tony O’Malley; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy O’Malley.

Rhett Walker Burden of Bee Spring, Ky was born sleeping on December 2nd 2023 at Nortons Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

He is survived by his parents, Benjamin and Carli Burden of Bee Spring. Grandparents, Anita (John) Downs of Bee Spring, Shannon (Jason) Holden of Caneyville, Bobby (Chris) Burden of Bowling Green. Aunt and Uncles, Megan (Alex) Brooks of Clarkson, Jace Holden of Caneyville, Logan Renfrow of Caneyville, Paisley Holden of Caneyville, Josh (Ashley) Ervin of Anneta, and Brittany (Dakota) Stone of Bee Spring.

He is proceeded in death by his siblings, Grant Taylor Burden, and Avery Rose Burden, his uncle Kerry Matthew Ervin, and his grandfather, Michael Thomas Rucker.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday at Harvest Time Apostolic Church Cemetery at 136 Cedar Grove Church Rd. Bee Spring, KY. Gravil Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
