 Tony Higdon, age 61 of Cave City, departed this life on Monday, December 29, 2025 at his residence. The Barren County native was born on June 21, 1964 to Rose Ann Higdon and the late Hershel Thomas Higdon. He was married to his loving wife, Kennetha Hay Higdon, who survives.
Tony retired as a mechanic from his family business, Higdon Service Center, where he dedicated decades to serving his community with skill and integrity. He was a true jack of all trades whose capable hands could repair anything. Tony was a dedicated member of The Place Worship Center, a sacred place where his faith was continually renewed and where he found his deepest peace and purpose. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing a competitive hand of poker with dear friends and the thrill of watching sports, cheering passionately for his UK Wildcats and Dallas Cowboys. His enthusiasm was infectious, and his presence at any gathering brought warmth and joy to those around him. Besides his wife and mother, Kennetha and Rose Ann, he leaves to honor his memory— his children, Brooke Craine (Michael), Tyler Craine (Jennifer) and Andrea; step-father, Glendal Miles; son-in-law, Chris Longley; grandchildren, Raylen Longley, Staley Craine, Angel Craine and Kayley Craine; sister, Gwen Higdon; nephew, Matthew Key and fur babies, Toby, Struggle D., Willow, Charlie, Monkey, Alex, Allie and Tyson. Gil enjoyed a fulfilling career spanning many years as a skilled machinist and dedicated maintenance worker, contributing his talents to RR Donnelly, Dana Corporation, and Magna before retiring. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and faith. Above all, Gil cherished his family deeply and had a true passion for the great outdoors! Nothing brought him more joy than spending time hunting and fishing, where he felt most at peace. He leaves to honor his memory— his sons, Lester M. Peggy retired from the Barren County School District after a deeply fulfilling career as a teacher at Barren County High School, where she touched countless lives through her patience, wisdom, and love of learning. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a faithful member of Little Hope Missionary Baptist Church. There, she joyfully served her church family by teaching Sunday School and graciously stepping in to play the piano whenever needed—a role she filled with both humility and love. She was also a proud member of the Order of Eastern Star. In her quieter moments, Peggy found joy in reading, especially Shakespeare’s poetry, expressing herself through writing, and challenging her mind with games and puzzles—pastimes that reflected her thoughtful, curious spirit. Besides her husband, Robert, she leaves to honor her memory— her children, Brian Burks (Oleva) of Glasgow and Whitney Gaskin (David) of Bowling Green, and her grandchildren, Briley Burks, Kaelin Burks and Preston Gaskin. The Edmonson County native was born on September 7, 1938 to the late Josie Browning and Paul Skaggs, Sr. He was married to his devoted wife, Beverly Sue Skaggs, until they were parted by her passing on January 28, 2003.
Carlton devoted many years of his life to serving his community, first as a manager at Park Mammoth and later as an owner at Parker Hardware. He also worked as a supervisor at Kellwood Manufacturing, where his strong work ethic and steady leadership were deeply respected. Beyond his work, Carlton was a loyal sibling, a trusted friend, and a caring neighbor who could always be counted on. While his health allowed, he was a faithful member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church, where he dearly loved his church family. In his earlier years, Carlton found great joy in coaching little league baseball and girls’ softball, sharing his time and encouragement with young athletes. Some of his most treasured moments were spent on the golf course and on Saturday mornings gathered around the table, enjoying breakfast with his great-grandchildren and family—moments that reflected his deep love for those closest to him. Jim was the son of the late Louie and Fannie McDaniel Goodman.
He and his siblings grew up in Camden, Tennessee, where he learned the value of hard work and working with your hands through life on the family farm. He spent his childhood raising corn, peanuts and sorghum molasses with a team of mules. Jim professed faith in Christ on July 26, 1959 at the age of sixteen years old at Eagle Creek Baptist Church in Benton, TN. He later joined Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church July 9, 1988 where he remained a faithful and devoted member until sickness overtook his body. Jim took great pride in serving as a trustee at the church, helping oversee the building and its operations. He truly found joy working alongside the late Bros. Elmer James Meredith, Bros. Barry Jo Rich, Bros. Hulan Sanders, and Bros. Walton Basham to ensure that Bee Spring Church was well maintained. Though his body was failing, his love for Bee Spring Church never wavered, and he always looked forward to receiving messages from the church text group to stay informed and connected. Jim loved to be around people. Through his interactions and relationships he acquired through his work at Sunbeam Bread and Kerns Bakery for 33 years and the Bank of Edmonson County 4 ½ years, he formed many lasting friendships. He never met a stranger and was known for his warm smile, kind words and genuine interest in others. Jim was united in marriage to JoAnna Duvall Goodman on February 20,1987, and together they shared thirty eight blessed years of marriage. Their union created a loving home filled with faith, laughter and devotion, raising four children and welcoming eight grandchildren. Jim loved his family with all of his heart and took great pride in each of them. Jim is survived by his loving wife JoAnna Goodman, three daughters; Becky Hogan (Ricky) of Odenville, Alabama and Lori Kilgore (Todd) of Houston, Mississippi, Staffanne Cassady (Kyle) of Chalybeate and one son; Stacy Vincent (Susan) of Bee Spring. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Beth Anne Kilgore, Leigh Ellen Rogers (Tripp), Brooke Tyler (Christian), Paige Kidd, Wesley Kidd, Sawyer Vincent (Lauren), Hallie Cassady, Hannah Claire Cassady, and Harper Kate Cassady and several great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two loving sisters, Bobbie Summerville of Jackson, TN and Martha Harris of Camden, TN. Bobbie and Martha faithfully called and texted “Buddy” as they knew their brother’s health was declining, offering love, encouragement and comfort. Jim loved to share the stories and life of his nieces and nephews, oftentimes a picture from Ricky and Randy showcasing their recent catch from Kentucky Lake. Jim gave completely— first to God, to his church, then always to his family and friends. This world is not his home, but a better place because of his life, and Heaven will be brighter because of his presence. He never complained through all the years of medical issues, pain or discomfort. Though we may not understand why “Papa Jim” had to endure the challenges in this natural life, we take comfort in the words of Scripture from 2 Timothy: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Peggy retired after many years of dedicated work on the assembly line at Eaton Corporation, a place where her strong work ethic and reliability were well known. Above all else, Peggy was deeply devoted to her family. She found her greatest joy in caring for her children and grandchildren, preparing big, home-cooked meals, and spending treasured time camping together. Quiet moments often found her reading a good book or happily working on word search puzzles. Peggy’s life was also guided by her faith, as she was a member of the Church of Christ. Later, he proudly joined the team at Les Pinkham Auto. Bobby was known for his pleasant, jovial spirit—a kind soul whose warmth, gentle humor, and genuine smile drew people to him effortlessly. He loved visiting with others and had a special gift for storytelling, often sharing a good story simply to brighten someone’s day. In his spare time, he found joy in working outdoors, whether gardening, caring for his lawn, or spending hours working on his classic Mustangs—projects that reflected both his patience and passion. Above all, Bobby found his greatest peace in his faith. He attended Open Valley United Missionary Baptist Church with his family, where he felt deeply comforted and at home. The Edmonson County native was a CNA at Bowling Green Warren County Hospital and also The Medical Center at Bowling Green after the transition. Nola enjoyed making candy and cookies with her grandchildren and was a talented seamstress. She was a daughter of the late Blossie Vincent and Thelma Louise Farris Vincent. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Irene Vincent. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Friday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brownsville Cemetery. The St. Louis, Missouri native was born on January 18, 1943 to the late Jean Duemler and Lawrence A. “Larry” Maddock, Sr. He was married to his loving wife and best friend of sixty-one years, Karen S. Maddock, who survives.
Pat proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Crisis, a time that shaped his deep sense of duty and honor. He later continued that spirit of service as a dedicated member of the American Legion. Before retiring, Pat spent many faithful years working as an electrician for D-Andrea Electric in Largo, Florida, where he took great pride in a job done right. In his quieter moments, Pat found joy in the simple things he loved most—cheering on NASCAR and college football, tending to his farm, and admiring the beauty of classic cars. Some of his happiest days were spent traveling in his motor home, embracing the freedom of the open road and living the best of both worlds between his Kentucky and Florida homes. Throughout her years as a waitress in many of the local restaurants, her familiar smile, quick laugh, and heartfelt conversations became something people looked forward to—often as much as the meal itself. Mary also had a passion for collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, filling her home with vibrant red treasures that reflected her lively spirit and love of nostalgia. Each piece held a story, and she delighted in sharing them. Her admiration for classic cars was just as deep—she loved their craftsmanship, their history, and the memories they carried from a bygone era. Betty Jane Seabolt Duvall, 85, of Roundhill passed away peacefully with family by her side Dec. 2, 2025 at her home.
The Edmonson County native was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a daughter of the late William H. “Willie” Seabolt and Florence Dalton Seabolt and the wife of the late Sherman Duvall. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Pauline Heavrin, Irene Johnson, Delephene Doyle, Ilene Hardin and Geneva “Bobbie” White; and four brothers, Oval Seabolt, Dewey Seabolt, Ray Seabolt and John Seabolt. Surviving are five daughters, Carol Miller (Perry) of Roundhill, Debbie Lynch (David) of Franklin, Jo Duvall of Chalybeate, Kathy Duvall (Jimmie) of Bowling Green and Sherletta Huff (Ronny) of Big Reedy; a sister, Judy Clark (Bill) of Huff; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a lifelong friend, Jeanette Seabolt; and several nieces and nephews.  Glenn “Woody” Woodcock, age 77, of Munfordville, departed this life on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at his daughter’s residence. The Hart County native was born on December 12, 1947 to the late Lacy and Lucy Gaskin Woodcock. He was married to his devoted wife, Elaine Woodcock, who survives.
Glenn “Woody” proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, carrying with him a deep sense of duty and patriotism throughout his life. After his military service, he enjoyed a long and dedicated career as a truck driver with TS Trucking, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. Glenn was of the Methodist faith, and he loved being involved with the Hart County Lions Club, where he enjoyed helping out and spending time with friends. More than anything, Woody loved being out by the water with a fishing pole. That’s where he found his peace—just him, the outdoors, and the quiet moments that made him happiest. Besides his wife, Elaine, he leaves to honor his memory— his daughter, Marnie Fawns (Sammy) of Park City; grandchildren, Mercedez Fawns (Derek Thompson), Zack Fawns and Casey Crain; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Blayklee, Maverick, Oaklyn and Mason, and a brother, Ronnie Woodcock (Donita) of Munfordville. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Carlton and Ray Woodcock, Shirley Jackson and Pam Rich. Memorial contributions may be made to Patton Funeral Home or to the family through Venmo. Though his time on earth was brief, his precious life forever changed the hearts of all who awaited for him.
Besides his loving parents, Bryan and Samantha, he leaves to honor his memory— his big brothers, Andrew and Aaron Peebles; grandparents, Robbie and Tammy Crump of Smiths Grove and Buddy and Jan Peebles of Bowling Green; great-grandparents, Forest and Jean Jaggers of Mammoth Cave, Leon and Georgia Crump of Smiths Grove and Joyce Gnau of Louisville, along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Hazel Darlene Crump, Kenneth Gnau, Buddy Peebles, Sr. and Shirley Peebles. All services were private. ARRANGEMENTS BY PATTON FUNERAL HOME BROWNSVILLE CHAPEL  Terry Jo Skaggs, age 68, of Chalybeate, departed this life on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Edmonson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Edmonson County native was born on January 9, 1957 to the late Benton and Martha Nell Skaggs.
Terry Jo was a gentle soul whose reserved nature left a warm and lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She was saved as a young girl and became a member of Fairview United Baptist Church, where her faith continued to guide her throughout her life. For many years, she was an active part of the Edmonson County Saddle Club and the Edmonson County Lions Club, generously giving her time wherever it was needed—whether working the concession stand, greeting guests at the ticket booth, or lending a helping hand behind the scenes. Terry Jo found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved singing and spending time with her friends at Brownsville Karaoke. She also poured her creativity into crocheting and baking, often sharing her handmade treasures and homemade treats with those she cared about. Above all, her greatest joy and deepest love was her family. They were the heart of her world and the source of her happiest moments. She leaves to honor her memory— her sister and best friend, Corentha Cole (Jimmy) of Chalybeate; nieces and nephew, Miranda Thomas (Austin) of Chalybeate, Mallory Taylor (Matt) of Alvaton, and Tucker Cole (Hannah) of Chalybeate; great nieces and nephews, Sadie and Riley Thomas, Margot, Madaline and Malone Taylor, Myles and Noah Cole; dear aunt, Debbie Vaughn and cousins, Marty Burks (Bonita), Ricky Vaughn (Rhonda) and Chad Vaughn, along with several friends and neighbors who she dearly loved.
