David Allen Self, 68

David Allen Self, 68, departed this life on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at his residence. He was born the eleventh month, fourth day of nineteen fifty-five in Barren County, KY to the late Willie and Nellie Perkins Self. David was married to his wife of forty-four years, Kathy Jean Self, until her passing on July 12, 2020.

David was a former electrical technician at R.R. Donnelly. He was what some would call a perfectionist and gave 110% at everything he did. This is evident as you drive by his house and see his meticulous lawn and landscape. He was passionate about being outdoors or exercising, whether it was hiking, being a “gym rat” or watching his son or anyone playing baseball. He never passed up a chance to catch a good movie or shoot a round of pool. His true love was his family, and all that were fortunate enough to be his friend.

He leaves to honor his memory-- his son, Derek Self (Emmi); grandsons, Slayten Weller Self and Jett Jameson Self; siblings, Judy Smith, Debra Batliner and Danny Self (Debbie); special friend, Beth Page, along with several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.

David served as the chairperson for the Cave City Cemetery Board and asked that memorial contributions be made to Cave City Cemetery 105 Duke Street Cave City, Ky 42127.
