Edna Childress, age 92, of Chalybeate, KY, departed this life on Friday, October 21, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Sandy Hook, KY to the late Lafe and Katie Boggs. She was married to Alvin Childress for 68 years, who proceeded her in death. Edna, as a young woman, accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at Rocky Branch Baptist Church in Burke, Ky. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star in Brownsville, Fairview United Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She dearly loved gardening, gospel music, tending to her one hundred rose bushes, and laughing and talking with her friends and family. She is survived by one daughter, Pat Eyl (Anthony, Jr.) of Atlanta, GA; one son, Jimmie Childress (Teresa) of Mammoth Cave, KY; six grandchildren, Nancy Eyl (Bjorn Arp) of Washington, D.C., Jennifer Eyl of Providence, RI, Anthony Eyl III (Tarn) of Woodstock, GA, Craig Childress of IL, Amanda Black (Charles) of Mammoth Cave, LeeAnn Childress of Mammoth Cave; eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. She was dearly loved by her family and endeared herself to her devoted caregivers in the last years of her life.
