George Albert “Tubby” Houchin, age 97, departed this life on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on March 17, 1924 to the late Hobert Tara Houchin and the late Flora Reynolds Houchin. He was married to the late Virginia Barbee Houchin.
Tubby retired as a carpenter from Alliance corporation. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during World War II and was a member of New Liberty Methodist Church. He leaves to honor his memory— two children, Royce Houchin of Smiths Grove and Marilyn Willis (Dallas) of Whitehouse, TN; two grandchildren, Robin Coots (Dale) and Tyra Palmer (Justin); three great-grandchildren, Austin Coots (Tiffany), Knox and Beau Palmer, three great-great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Aspen and Chase Coots; one sister, Wilma Sanders. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter and her husband, Christy Lindsey Lucas and Grover; two sisters, Idell Howard Houchin and Mildred Rutherford. Interment will be in Lambert Cemetery with graveside military honors by Nisbet Alexander Memorial Post #6937 V.F.W.
