Harold Johnson, age 88 of Silent Grove, departed this life on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on October 8, 1936 to the late Clarence and Mary Louise Johnson. He was married to his wife of twenty-five years, Shirley Glass Newton Johnson, who survives.
Harold worked for numerous years with American Chain and Cable. He later joined the Edmonson County School District and retired from their maintenance department. Harold was a member of Oak Grove United Baptist Church, where he contributed to the spiritual journeys of many individuals through the years. In his later days, Harold cherished the simple pleasures found swinging on his front porch. He often spent countless hours riding his tractor, and enjoying the peace and tranquility of his farm. Besides his wife, Shirley, he leaves to honor his memory— his stepson, Chris Newton (Jeanna); bonus daughter, Karen Brock (Paul); two grandchildren, Casey Baker (Chris) and Trevor Newton; bonus grandchildren, Caroline and Nick Brock; a sister, Lillian Wright; in-laws, Gerrald Luttrell, Juanita Sexton, Ronnie Glass (Louise) and Debbie Poynter (Ricky), along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Anthony and Stanley Johnson, and two sisters, Zella Bullock and Brenda Luttrell. The interment will be in Johnson Cemetery.
