James Edward Dickson, age 87 of Cave City, peacefully departed this life on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Shanti Niketan Hospice Home in Glasgow, KY. The Barren County native was born on September 3, 1938 to the late Gordon and Lou Ella Bragg Dickson. He was married to his loving and devoted wife of sixty-five years, Wanda Mae White Dickson, until her passing on June 26, 2023.

James dedicated many years of his life to working in the garment manufacturing industry in Horse Cave and Brownsville, where he faithfully served as a foreman and earned the respect of those who worked alongside him. Later, he spent numerous years providing HVAC services throughout the area, known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and willingness to help others. He took pride in honest work and in providing for his family, quietly demonstrating integrity and dependability in all he did. In his younger years, James found great joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, especially when those moments were shared with his only son and later his grandson—times filled with laughter, stories, and memories that will be cherished forever.

Above all, James’ heart belonged to his church, Basil Chapel United Baptist Church, and to the rich harmonies of southern gospel music. His faith was the foundation of his life. In the 1980s, he was a member of the Gospel Travelers quartet, traveling to churches throughout the area and lifting his voice in song. Those who heard him sing could feel the sincerity of his faith and the joy it brought him.

James was a devoted husband, a loving dad, a proud grandfather, and a caring brother. He led his family with quiet strength and unwavering love. Though he will be deeply missed, the legacy of his faith, his music, and his love for family will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves to honor his memory— his son, Mike Dickson (Brenda) of Bowling Green; grandson, Craig Dickson of Boston, MA; siblings; sister, Geneva Clines of Cave City, along with a host of relatives and friends.

Interment will in Cave City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Basil Chapel United Baptist Church or Shanti Niketan Hospice Home.
