James Elmer Jaggers, age 83 of Sweeden, KY departed this world on Thursday, July 23 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
James enjoyed spending time with his family and instilling morals in his children. His interests involved tinkering and fixing household appliances and machinery. He enjoyed the outdoors and working with his tractor. He was known for his mischievous humor and contagious smile. James was born February 11, 1943 to Elmer Jaggers and Louise Minton Jaggers. At age 11, James attended a revival at Ollie United Baptist Church held by Brother Roy Sanders and Brother Clyde CassWell. He claimed his hope of salvation and later became a member of Cove Hollow United Baptist Church. He and his wife raised three children under their faith and trust in the Lord. All of their children were blessed with salvation by the mercy of the Lord making their home complete. When recently asked by his son and daughter about his salvation experience, he stated that he shouted all over the church house. At age 21, James met the love of his life Dorothy Faye VanMeter. The two were united in marriage on March 30, 1963. They shared 55 happy years together and from this union had three children. James was proceeded in death by his parents- Elmer and Louise Jaggers, Wife-Dorothy Faye VanMeter Jaggers and his eldest daughter- Pamela Jane Jaggers Smith (Ernie). Survived by 2 Children: Tracy Lynn Jaggers Burba (Arthur) and James Matthew Jaggers (Ashlee), 4 Grandchildren: Mindy Faye Smith Vincent (Jon), Bailey Huter Burba, Matthew Luke Jaggers, and Emma Kay, Jaggers. 1 Great Grandchild: Carson Blake Vincent, 3 sibilings: Faye Jaggers Bratcher (Steve), Forest Jaggers (Jean) and Judy Jaggers Wilson (Aubrey) Sego Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral services. Visitation and Funeral will be held at Cove Hollow United Baptist Church of Mammoth Cave. Visitation will be from 5pm-9pm on Friday, July 24, 10am to 9pm on Saturday, July 25th , and 10am to 2pm on Sunday July 26th . Funeral will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 26th at Cove Hollow United Baptist Church. – Brother Jr. Logsdon will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Cove Hollow United Baptist Cemetery.
