Joseph Webb “Boojer” Devers, Sr., age 83 of Cecilia, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at Kensington Center in Elizabethtown. He was born September 26, 1938 in New Hope. He was a former machinist with Brown and Williamson Tobacco with 22 years of service and later worked at Cooper Industries in Elizabethtown. He was an avid lifelong Farmer and loved raising cattle and tobacco. He was a member of Saint James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis William and Mary Ellen Masterson Devers; seven sisters, Lois Jean Richardson, Dorothy Howell, Elizabeth Jane Harris, Eugenia Anderson, Shirley Ann Devers, Martha Kimberlin and infant Maria Goretti Devers; five brothers, William Paul, Joseph Newman, Donnie, Dennis Jr. and infant Douglas McArthur Devers. Survivors include one daughter, Joanna Williams (Walter) of Bowling Green; four sons, Joseph W. Devers, Jr. (Beth) of Bee Spring, Lawrence Robert “Larry” Devers (Becky) of Glascow, William Scott Devers (Jennifer) of Bee Spring and Jason Todd Devers (Jacqueline) in Mount Washington; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am EST Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church Street, New Hope. Rev. Matthew Hardesty will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation is 3-7 pm Monday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm by Deacon Dean Giulitto. Comments are closed.
