Nelsie Mae Taylor, age 83 of Mammoth Cave, departed this life on Thursday, January 14, 2022 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on May 19, 1938 to the late Almon A. and Mable Kidwell Brooks. She was married to her devoted help mate of over fifty-six years, Bro. Dave B. Taylor, before he preceded her in death on August 31, 2013.
Nelsie was saved as a young girl at the old Nolin School. She joined Union Light Missionary Baptist Church, and attended Hill Grove Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed her. She worked as a homemaker and took care of the needs of her household, whether it was pressing shirts for Bro. Dave during revivals or cooking meals for her children and grandchildren. She leaves to honor her memory-- three sons, Allen Taylor (Veronica) of Ollie, Brandt Taylor (Kim) of Chalybeate and Reed Taylor (Judy) of Mammoth Cave; one daughter, Karen Agee (Jim) of Brownsville; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Weldon Brooks (Sharon) of Bowling Green and two sisters, Bobbi Wilson (Robert) and Nina Childress (Kenneth) all of Mammoth Cave. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Terry, Jerry, Phil, Eddie and Clyde Brooks and one sister, Jean Wilson. Interment will be in Hill Grove Church Cemetery.
