Nelson Minyard, 90

Nelson Minyard, age 90, of New Grove, departed this life on Tuesday, June 24, 2024 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on May 31, 1934 to the late Charlie Hurl and Hattie Pearl Stice Minyard. He was married to his loving wife, Cecile Wilson Minyard, until they were parted by her death on February 23, 2017.

Nelson was a member of New Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was the former owner of Minyard’s Grocery, and retired as a mechanic from Western Kentucky University. He was such a kind man, and a true neighbor to his friends and those in need. 

He leaves to honor his memory— his son, Jeff Minyard (Billie Jo) of New Grove; grandchildren, Jordan Newton (Ethan), Jake Taylor, Weston Hodges, Josh Hodges, Clay Hodges (Olivia) and Gracie Hodges; great-grandchildren, Kenlei and Easton Newton, Heath Sanders and Baylor Hodges; brothers, Kenneth Minyard (Kathy) and Johnny Ray Minyard (Loretta); sisters, Mary Jane Anderson, Sue Neighbors and Diane Tarter (Irvin), along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Ricky Minyard, and siblings, Charles and Ed Minyard, Norma Jean Minyard and Lavana Duff.
