Picture
Paul Reynolds, born on March 23, 1942, in a world that would immensely benefit from his dedication and passion, peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. The Binger, Oklahoma native was the only child born to the late Gean and Lodeene Patton Reynolds. He was married to his soul mate, Susan Z. Reynolds, who survives.

Paul enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring as a diagnostic imaging sales executive from GE, where he made significant contributions to his field. His educational journey began at the University of Texas in Austin, a foundation that fueled his inquisitive mind. A historian and conservationist at heart, he was deeply committed to the preservation of history and the environment. His efforts were recognized as he became a valued member of the beloved Kyrock community and the Edmonson County Historical Society. During his time in Sanibel, his dedication earned him the affectionate nickname “Water Warrior,” reflecting his unwavering commitment to the conservation of the region's natural resources.

An enthusiastic golfer and tennis player, Paul was known for his remarkable skills on the golf course. Later in life, he channeled his passion for the sport into ownership of a golf pro shop and driving range, where he not only shared his love for golf but also inspired many with his mentorship. Beyond his hobbies, Paul was actively involved in the Sanibel community, serving in multiple prominent roles. He was a dedicated member of the Periwinkle Partnership, which replanted 20,000 trees on Sanibel after Hurricane Charley in 2005. His service extended to the Sanibel Beautification Committee, the SanCap Chamber of Commerce, and the Sanibel Planning Commission. Additionally, he served on the Lee County Republican Executive Committee and held the title of representative of Southwest Florida Water District Board. His voice also echoed through the Fort Myers News-Press Citizens Editorial Board, showcasing his commitment to civic engagement.

Besides his loving wife, Susan, he leaves to honor his memory— his children, Deanna “Annie” Jacobs (Pete), Dr. Evan McBeath (Reilly) and Mary McBeath; seven grandchildren, Ella McBeath, Rebecca Finau, Bonnie Jacobs, Abigail McBeath, Rachel Finau, Owen McBeath and Rowan Finau; sister-in-law, Sandee Pester and his nephew that he loved as his own, Steven Pester (Kari).

Interment will be in Sweeden Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to: Edmonson County Historical Society.
