Richard T. “R.C.” Craine, age 83, of Cave City, departed this life on Tuesday, February 2, 2026 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. The Barren County native was born on August 6, 1942 to the late Samuel and Audrey Sturgeon Craine. He was married to his loving wife of sixty-three years, Patsy Ann Craine, who survives.
Richard devoted his life to honest, hardworking labor. He spent 21 years as a concrete truck driver with Square Deal Lumber Company, retiring in 1987, and later continued his career with Scotty’s Contracting, where he worked another 18 years before retiring in 2007. Alongside his professional work, Richard remained deeply connected to the land as a cattle farmer. He found great joy in farming, visiting the stockyards, and simply sitting outside, taking in the peaceful beauty of the farmland that surrounded his home. Richard was a member of Park City Baptist Church and a proud member of the Barren County Cattlemen’s Association. Besides his wife, Patsy, he leaves to honor his memory— his son, Kevin Craine (Julie) of Cave City; granddaughters, Chasity Haynes of Cave City and Cassandra Horton (Phillip) of Canmer; great-grandchildren, Hayden Slaughter, Stetson Haynes, Phillip Dale Horton, Jr. and Wyatt Horton; sister, Margie Kinslow of Glasgow; nephews and nieces, Stanford Kinslow (Donna), Cynthia Cross (Tim), Robbie Risk, Amanda Bottoms (Greg), Scott Hayes (Paula) and Todd Hayes (Joan); several other great nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elaine Hayes (Tom), Peggy Risk and Steve Binkley.
