Robert Loyd "Bob" King, 90, a beloved figure in the community of Park City, departed this life on December 29, 2024, at TJ Samson Community Hospital. Born on January 22, 1934, in Murray, Kentucky, to the late Virgil Bruce and Monico King, Bob dedicated his life to serving others through his career, community involvement, and unwavering spirit. He was married to his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Eva Marie King, until she was called to her eternal home on December 5, 2023.

Bob's professional journey began with KY Telephone, where he worked diligently as a lineman, service technician, and installer. His expertise not only connected families but also formed lasting relationships within the community. His work ethic was commendable, but it was his heart and commitment to service that truly distinguished him. A sense of duty also defined Bob's life beyond his career. He proudly served our nation in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, embodying the values of honor and sacrifice that we hold dear. These qualities carried over into his local commitments.

Bob's legacy will forever be intertwined with his remarkable tenure as the Mayor of Park City, a role he held for fifteen years. Park City was his home, and he worked tirelessly for the betterment of the community. He was also an esteemed member of Park City Baptist Church, and the Park City Masonic Lodge #934 F&AM. Bob found camaraderie and purpose among his brothers, dedicating over 65 years to the lodge. His contributions extended beyond the ordinary, as he embraced the role of “BoShag” for Shriners International, bringing joy and laughter to adults and children alike.

He leaves to honor his memory—his children, Shari King Harper (Kirby) and Greg King (Chrisn) all of Park City; his grandchildren, Todd Harper (Kendra), Bruce King (Mikayla), Jessica Galecio (Manuel), Brittney Harper and Rachel King; his beloved great-grandchildren, Abel and Ava Marie King, Chase and Kirbie Bonnema, and Camila and Nicolas Galecio, along with his sister, Pat Thompson of Murray, KY. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Bruce King; great-granddaughter, Addison Grace King and four sisters, Dorothy, Virginia, Lou and Carolyn.

The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery with graveside military honors by the Barren County DAV.

Memorial contributions can be made to:  Kosair for Kids.
