Roberta McCombs Bean, age 92 of Pig, departed this life on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. The Edmonson County native was born on January 13, 1931 to the late Elic McCombs and Lena Spillman McCombs. She was married to her husband of seventy-two years, Douglas Bean, until they were parted by death.
Roberta was an accountant for Sears, and a member of Lehman Avenue Church of Christ. Roberta loved to read, enjoy her pets, and watching nature. She leaves to honor her memory-- one son, Gary Bean (Theresa); grandchildren, Chris Bean (Selena), Michael Bean (Monica), Jason Bean (Lauren), Steven Bean (Ashley); daughter in law, Debbie Bean; sister in law, Pat McCombs; and six great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Bean; grandson, Kevin Bean; and brother Jackie McCombs. Memorial contributions can be made to: Hospice of Southern Kentucky, American Cancer Society, or to the American Diabetes Associations. The Edmonson County native was born on October 19, 1930 to the late Lewis Bean and Marie Bean. He was married to his wife of seventy-two years, Roberta McCombs Bean, until they were parted by her death just hours before his passing. Douglas was a U.S. Navy Veteran as a M.A.R.S Member. He worked as a x-ray technician for Graves Gilbert Clinic, and was a member of Lehman Avenue Church of Christ. He leaves to honor his memory— his son, Gary Bean (Theresa), grandchildren, Chris Bean (Selena), Michael Bean (Monica), Jason Bean (Lauren), Steven Bean (Ashley), brother, Bob Bean (Nella Faye), daughter-in-law Debbie Bean, and six great-grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Bean; grandson, Kevin Bean; sisters; Verneil Rush, Virginia Walters; and brother, Charles Bean.
