Rondal L. Brooks, age 84 of Park City, KY, departed this life on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Hospice House in Bowling Green. The Barren County native was born on September 11, 1940, to the late Robert and May Foster Brooks. He was married to his best friend and soul mate, Maxine “Mac” Hogan Brooks, until they were parted by her death on July 26, 2024.

Rondal proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, dedicating twenty-one years of his life to service and retiring as a First Sergeant. After retiring, he continued to make an impact as a JROTC instructor for Owensboro Public Schools and as a security officer for Guardsmark Security. His unwavering passion for his community shone through his thirty years of service with the Park City Lions Club and as a loyal member of Barren County DAV. During this time, he worked tirelessly to see the completion of the Lions Club clubhouse, Park City Veterans Memorial Wall, and to ensure that each veteran buried at Evergreen Cemetery was reverenced with a flag at their grave site. He was honored to be a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Beech Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and a former member of the Barren County Planning and Zoning Committee. Rondal's life was a remarkable testament to the essence of being a true servant.

He leaves to honor his memory— his daughter, Jane Brooks Skrovan of Park City; his brother, William E. Brooks of Paducah; a sister-in-law, Shelby Esters (Leo) of Cave City; a nephew and niece, Tim Brooks and his family of Glasgow and Treva Nell Childress (Eric) of Park City, along with several other nephews, nieces and extended family members. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ric Skrovan.

The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery with graveside military honors by the Barren County DAV.

Memorial contributions can be made to: Barren County DAV or the Park City Lions Club.
