Shirley Doyle, age 87 of Cave City, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Glenview Health and Rehab in Glasgow, KY. The Barren County native was born on May 4, 1937 to the late Leonard and Pearlie Thomas Smith. She was married to her devoted husband, Royndal Thomas Doyle, until the Lord called him home on June 3, 2011.
Shirley was a cherished member of Basil Chapel United Baptist Church. She found immense joy in being so innovative, including crafting beautiful handmade items, preparing delicious meals, and sewing intricate garments. Most importantly, she treasured the time spent with her family, creating lasting memories. In addition, her dedication to the community was evident through her role as a grandparent volunteer at Hiseville Elementary, where she inspired and uplifted the lives of children. She leaves to honor her memory— her loving daughters, Theresa Jones (David) of Horse Cave and Marcia Payne (Tommy) of Smiths Grove; eight grandchildren, Christopher Dennison, Britt Jones, Abby Hadden (Clint), Zach Payne (DeAnna), Josh Payne (Paige), Ben Raymer, Blake Raymer and Bryce Raymer; nine great grandchildren and one great grandbaby arriving soon; two great-great grandchildren, and one sister, Doris Ward. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Nanette “Nan” Doyle Raymer; great granddaughter, Ruby Lee Jones and siblings, Orville, Raymond, Buford and J.B. Smith, Olene Coomer, Delcie Britt and Jennie Wilson. Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.
