Vernon Dwyer, age 94 of Big Reedy, departed this life on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. The Warren County native was born on September 16, 1926 to the late Dewey and Veva Willis Dwyer. He was married for seventy years to the late June E. Woosley Dwyer, who preceded him on death on December 12, 2020.
Vernon was a U.S. Army veteran, and served during World War II. He retired as a school teacher and principal at Sunfish, Edmonson County Middle School and numerous one room schools in Butler County. After his retirement, he enjoyed raising cattle and his life in the Big Reedy community. He was a member of Hunts Church of Christ and attended Big Reedy Church of Christ. He leaves to honor his memory—one daughter, Jenny L. Porter (Doug) of Beaver Dam; two sons, Mike Dwyer (Gloria) and Andy Dwyer both of Big Reedy; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Victor Dwyer, one sister, Verena Dwyer French and one son-in-law, Doug Porter. Interment will be in Big Reedy Church of Christ Cemetery.
