William Leon Lindsey, age 88 of Chalybeate, departed this life on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on September 8, 1932 to the late Henry and Ollie Blansett Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty years, Christine Davis Lindsey.
Leon was a member and deacon of Wingfield United Baptist Church. He was a retired welder from Detrex Corporation. Leon was saved as a young boy at Oak Grove United Baptist Church in an old time revival when the gospel, preached by the late Bro. Gordan Campbell, convicted his heart. He was ordained alongside his late brother, Lonard, as a deacon by Oak Grove on March 23, 1969 and was a faithful member until he felt to join Wingfield Church. He was a strong, faithful Christian, a pillar to the way for many years and a great help to the lost and saved alike. He believed in a begging, knee-route way to salvation and would always stand for the right way. Many times he would stand up from the corner pew and start to testify and the Lord would give him a great blessing. Bro. Leon would always tell his children and the church to live for the Lord, take what you can feel, pray with it and if you can’t feel it, throw it away. Bro. Leon will be greatly missed by his church, family and friends. He leaves to honor his memory-- three sons, Steve Lindsey and his wife Debbi of Horse Cave, Mike Lindsey and his wife Judy of Chalybeate and Keith Lindsey and his wife Chasity of Chalybeate. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Beth Smith, Justin Lindsey and his wife Kalene, Rachel Lindsey and Kayden Lindsey; five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Maddox, Raylee, Emmalyn and Garrison and three siblings, Glen Lindsey and his wife Susie, James Lindsey, and Dorothy Logsdon and her husband Billy. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Pleas, and Lonard Lindsey. Interment will be in Wingfield Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Wingfield Cemetery Fund, c/o Keith Saling.
