Wynona Rose Jones, age 91 of Brownsville, KY departed this life peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born on June 9, 1933 to the late Garland and Dana Elizabeth Skaggs. She was married to her husband, Rev. Charles Thomas Jones, until the Lord said, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant,” and called him home on February 25, 1994.
For many years, Wynona dedicated herself to a bookkeeping career as Vice President at Brownsville Deposit Bank, where she influenced and inspired those fortunate enough to work alongside her. Yet, it was her role as a wife, mother and grandmother that defined who she was. She was a faithful help mate, offering unconditional support to her husband as he devoted himself to preaching the word of God. As a mother and grandmother figure, Wynona lived a life filled with grace and wisdom, guiding her family with strength, compassion, love, and unwavering faith. She was a member of Chalybeate United Baptist Church. Wynona nurtured her family not only by her Christian example, but also through her remarkable ability to create lasting memories, and fostering bonds that would endure through generations. She leaves to honor her memory— her sons, Tom Jones (Debra) of Morgantown and Mickey Jones (Terry) of Smiths Grove; grandchildren, Josh Jones, Jason Jones (Tiffani), Wesley Jones (Miranda), Sherrell Thompson (Michael) and Jordan Jones (Courtney); great-grandchildren, Anna Martin (Bryan), Brandon Jones (Madison), Brady Jones, MaKaylee Thompson, Ryley Jones, Madison Jones, Lilly Jones, Grant Jones and Leah Jones; great-great grandchildren, Wrangler, Weston, Lucy, Monroe and Tousley, and her siblings, Kendall Skaggs (Jewel), Wendell Skaggs, J.B. Skaggs (Judy), Mayme Lou Harrell and Roberta Hoskinson. Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Jones, and brothers, Blayne, Dewayne, Leroe and Herbert Ray Skaggs. The interment will be in Pleasant Union United Baptist Church Cemetery.
