Edmonson Wins 2nd In A Row With 49-40 Over Green County Darren Doyle, story: Alyssa Doyle, photos: Lauren Ballance had her second 20-point-plus game in a row tonight with a 23-point performance over the Green County Lady Dragons in the second night of the Raffery's/Double Dogs Caveland Classic at ECHS. Coming off a 25-point, 10 rebound night against Metcalfe County where the Lady Cats won easily and possibly set a school record for the most team rebounds in a game (49), Ballance led the way for Edmonson County in a scrappy and sometimes sloppy game. Edmonson County led throughout the game but Green County refused to go quietly with a full court press that gave the Lady Cats trouble throughout the night. Green County had cut their deficit to only 2 with just under 5 minutes to go, but Ballance hit a 15-foot jumper in the corner to extend the Lady Cat lead to 37-33 with 4:25 left. Macie McCombs buried a three on their next possession and Ballance was able to hit 7 out of 8 free throws in the final minute and half (including two more from McCombs) that iced the game for Edmonson County. In addition to Ballance, McCombs added 11, Emma Rose Vincent had 10 points and 8 rebounds, Madison Harrison had 3 points and 10 rebounds, Katie Lindsey had 2 points and Lily Jane Vincent added 7 rebounds.
Edmonson County is now 4-3 on the season and will face Thomas Nelson in the final night of the Raffery's/Double Dogs Caveland Classic on Saturday night at 5:30.
