Edmonson Falls to Butler 34-13 Darren Doyle, story: Macy Miller, photos: Butler County jumped on Edmonson County early and never let the Wildcats fully recover Friday night, using a pair of long touchdown catches from Butler's Carson Davis and a late Brody Dockery run to pull away for a 34-13 victory at Wildcat Stadium. The Bears led 26-0 at halftime and 26-8 after three quarters before Edmonson scratched back in the fourth. Butler's Davis set the tone early. With 10:53 left in the first quarter he hauled in a 33-yard touchdown pass and the extra point made it 7-0. Less than five minutes later he struck again, this time from 63 yards, and the extra point pushed the lead to 14-0 with 6:10 still on the first-quarter clock. Butler kept pouring it on in the second. Kevin Robbins broke a 35-yard touchdown run (extra point missed) to make it 20-0 with 7:34 left before the half. Davis then recovered a fumble in the end zone for another score; the two-point try failed, but the Bears took a 26-0 lead into the locker room at the half. Edmonson finally answered in the third. Roger Harris punched in a 4-yard run and Haley Shields converted the extra point, cutting the deficit to 26-7 with 6:19 left in the period. The home side found the end zone again early in the final period. Sawyer Simmons found Camden Williams for a 4-yard touchdown with 9:35 remaining. The extra point was no good, leaving the score 26-13. Dockery ended any comeback hopes. The Butler quarterback broke free for a 49-yard touchdown run with 2:45 left and the two-point conversion made the final 34-13.
Davis finished with three touchdowns — two receiving and one on the fumble recovery — in a standout night for the Bears. Harris and Williams provided the Wildcats’ offensive highlights. Edmonson County dropped to 1-5 on the season. They are scheduled to travel to Larue County (6-0) next Friday for a 6:30CST kickoff.
