Granville Meredith, story and photos Lady Cat Senior golfer Kayla Meredith had a great week of golf. On Saturday, Kayla went to the Barren County Invitational at Barren River State Park (site of the girl’s regional tournament) where 81 girls competed. Kayla finished 18 holes with a score of 6 over, 77 and tied for 3rd in a 3-way tie. 1st place went to two girls tied at 76. There was a playoff for 1st and second. Kayla and the other 2 girls had a scorecard playoff which went to the hardest hole on the course, where Kayla had a bogey and the other girls had a birdie and par. This dropped Kayla to a 5th place finish, which made two years in a row of finishing 5th at Barren County. She later played in the All A Region on Monday at Ben Hawes State Park. Competing were teams from Hancock, Owensboro Catholic, Cloverport, Whitesville Trintiy, McClean, and Edmonson. Kayla qualified last year to go on to the state to become the first Lady Cat to represent Edmonson in the All A State and only the 2nd Lady Cat to compete at the state level. She'd set some goals early on-- one of which was to qualify again for the All A State. Comments are closed.
