Darren Doyle, story: Madison Doyle, photos: The Lady Cats dominated the Lady Cougars of Grayson County in every way last night in a 38-14 Edmonson County at ECHS. They out-rebounded Grayson County 27-13, shot 43% from the field on 13 of 30 shooting, made all 8 of their free throws, and held Grayson County to a season low 14 points and 16% shooting from the field. The Lady Cougars made only 5 field goals all night and were held completely scoreless in the third quarter. The Lady Cats jumped out to an 11-2 lead after the first, led 20-7 at the half, and 26-7 after three.
They were led by freshman Cariann Williams who scored 15 and grabbed 8 rebounds. Callie Webb and Riley Roy each scored 5, Emma White, Jenna Cook, and Kennadi Swihart each had 3, and Annie Kiper and Lily Jayne Vincent had 2 points each. Edmonson County improves to 14-6 on the season and 3-1 in district play. Their one loss comes from Butler County, who will be the other contender for the number one seed. The Lady Cats have two more district games remaining: one against Butler County on the road and Trinity at home. They must win both to have a chance at the top seed. With two wins and a Butler County loss, Edmonson and Butler will be tied 5-1 in the district. A coin toss would determine the number one seed. Their next game is scheduled on the road at North Hardin on January 31st.
