Darren Doyle, story: Alyssa Doyle, photos: Three solid individual performances by Lady Cats weren't enough to overcome the sharp shooting Barren County Trojanettes Monday night at ECHS as Edmonson County fell 71-52. Paced by Emma Rose Vincent's 19 points and 9 rebounds, the Lady Cats battled the boards with the help of Madison Harrison's 10 rebounds (6pts), and fought to keep pace with Lauren Ballance's 16 points, but Barren County's senior guard Elizabeth Bertram's 7 three-point night was too much for the Lady Cats to answer. Barren County jumped out to a 18-11 lead after the first and the Lady Cats had cut their deficit to 5 at the half; however, Barren County controlled the tempo of the game in the second half and took the win. When the Lady Cats needed plays, turnovers seemed to be the result, many of which were unforced.
Also scoring for the Lady Cats were Katie Lindsey with 8, Maham Shahbaz with 3, and Macie McCombs with 2. Edmonson County is now 2-3 on the season and will now prepare for the Raffery's/Double Dogs Caveland Classic, scheduled for December 19-21 at ECHS. They are scheduled to take on Metcalfe County Thursday night at 5:30pm.
