![]() Edmonson Voice Staff Laney Meredith, photos Lady Cat sophomore guard Peyton Martin led the way in a win over the Warren East Lady Raiders on Thursday night with 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in a 52-31 win that now has Edmonson County sitting at 2-0 on the season. The Lady Cats were without head coach Kevin Jackson as he was serving the second of a three game suspension, but coach Barry Booth and company were able to hold the fort down in Jackson's absence. ECHS was very effective with defensive pressure as the Lady Raiders didn't have a single player in double figures. The Lady Raiders were led by Sarah Peters with 8 points. Senior Jhonna Basil put up 10 points while grabbing 4 rebounds, and sophomore Caitlyn Simon added 8 points and 4 rebounds. The Lady Cats shot an impressive 88% from the free throw line, knocking down 19 of 22. Also helping the cause was senior Tori Browning with 6 points and 8 rebounds, Madelyn Taylor hitting all her free throws for 4 points, and senior Rachael Duncan with a three point basket.
The Lady Cats will now travel to Cumberland County on Saturday in a girl/boy doubleheader with tip off scheduled for 3pm. You can hear Jamie and Scott broadcast both games live on WildcatsLive right here on EdmonsonVoice.com, with the pregame show kicking off around 2:45pm.
