Darren Doyle, story:
Two females were arrested and face multiple drug and other charges involving a minor at a road safety checkpoint on Nolin Dam Road on Wednesday. While conducting the checkpoint near the Lincoln Fire Department, Edmonson County Sheriff’s deputies observed an open alcoholic beverage inside a Pontiac Grand Am, occupied by two adult females, identified as Carrisa L. Carey (28) of Mt. Washington, and Gabrielle L. Kemp (27) of Shepherdsville, along with a minor, the Sheriff's Office stated. As deputies made contact with the occupants, the operator reportedly admitted having marijuana in the vehicle, according to the Sheriff's Office. Deputies then conducted a search of the vehicle, which resulted in the discovery of suspected marijuana, suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and several open alcohol containers. The minor inside the vehicle admitted to drinking alcohol and deputies found suspected marijuana in the minor’s seat, the Sheriff's Office stated. Officials said neither the operator nor adult passenger took ownership of the suspected drugs. Carey and Kemp were both charged and arrested for:
Law enforcement said the vehicle was the very first to pass through the checkpoint on Wednesday, which has been set up to help handle the extra traffic due to the current event at a popular ATV park in the area. The event, called "Redneck Rave," claims they have sold 20K tickets to the park for the event that will continue through the weekend. "As we stated earlier in the week, we want to be a welcoming host to all that enter our county, but we expect you to follow the law," said Sheriff Shane Doyle. "We're asking you to be respectful of other property and leave our county in better shape than you found it. We've stepped up patrols and are working with our emergency service partners to provide the best possible service for both our local residents and guests." Carey was also discovered to have two outstanding Bullitt County Bench Warrants for failing to appear on charges of Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, One Headlight, Failure to Wear Seat Belts, Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operator’s License, and Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance. The Sheriff's Office also stated that the minor on scene was released to the mother.
