Your Freedoms or My Freedoms?

Mongoose,
In your replies, pretty much all the time you talk about personal freedoms. But what do you think about this new subdivision coming in to Chalybeate? Isn't the developer's freedom to build them infringing on everybody else in that community that doesn't want it built?

Dear My Freedom is Bigger than Your Freedom,
If individuals aren’t able to own property, or to be paid for property, be it physical or intellectual, that is anarchy—not freedom.

That’s where property owners at least have the freedom to do with their property what they will, within the confines of the law.  If you or anyone else would like to limit what property owners can and can’t do, the only thing you can do is push for zoning laws that limit —in the future,  situations such as what you are describing--or buy the land yourself.

Prove me wrong.

Maybe I don't fully understand, but individuals do not own property in reality. Basically a tenant. Buy 25 acres and build a half million dollar home and whatever the hearts desire. Spend the next 30 yrs paying it off. Thinking, I've done it. It's finally paid for and all mine. Then something like covid happens. Can't work cause everything is on lockdown and this and that. But it will be ok because my house and property are bought and paid for. It near the end of the year and everyone knows what that means. You receive a property tax bill in the mail. Which you normally pay promptly, but not this time. You tell yourself I'll just have to take the penalty for paying it next year. Next year comes and still no job due to lock downs and such. Tax bill comes due and still no money to pay it. You tell yourself they will understand. Do they, hell no. Everything you have worked your whole live for is takin from you for failure to pay property taxes. Then it's sold to the highest bidder on the courthouse steps via auction. So again maybe I'm just confused or misinformed. Seeing as that's the word being used more often these days.
