James E. Mills, 80

James E. Mills, 80, of Scottsville, KY passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green.  The Smiths Grove, KY native was a retired employee of Keystop in Smiths Grove,  a member of Freedom Hill Church, former member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon and past master of the Odd Fellows Lodge #51 in Bowling Green.  He was a son of the late Grover Cleveland Mills and Nettie Marie Slaughter Mills. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years:  Carolyn Bratton Mills, Scottsville, KY; 2 sons:  Bro. Russell Mills and wife, Sandy, Scottsville, KY and Alan Mills and wife, Danielle, Auburn, KY; 1 daughter:  Kim Riddle and husband, Jimmy, Smiths Grove, KY; 7 grandchildren:  Andrew Riddle (Ashley), Brian Riddle (Elizabeth), Jenifer Stinson; Luke Eaton (Stevie), Caden Mills, Jackson Mills and Tristin James Mills; 4 great grandchildren:  Benjamin Riddle, Victoria Riddle, Hanah Dyer and Colson Eaton and 1 unborn great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by a son:  James Phillip Mills; 4 sisters and 8 brothers. 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Freedom Hill Church with Bro. Russell Mills and Bro. Elvis Farley officiating and burial in the Kinser Cemetery with Bro. Smokey Smith officiating. 

Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday until funeral time at Freedom Hill Church. 

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Freedom Hill Church.   Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home or mailed to 198 Borden Lane, Scottsville, KY   42164.
